Great tip for the book. I'm just starting again mostly in 1:6th (I used to do them for myself when I was younger and took it up again recently) I think the oils seem to achieve a pretty good base so I am watching this with interest.
Would like to add some comments regarding the use of oils. In the first part excess oil was absorbed by using cardboard, fine, but please transfer the paint to a non-absorbent palette, reason being that small fibers of cardboard will be in your paint and tough to remove. Drying times for oils can be sped up by using a food dehydrator, 8 hours in a food dehydrator same as 3 days on your shelf. If your painting time gets interrupted put your palette in a plastic container and place in the freezer, to begin use again wait till paint is at room temperature. Next time you do a horse try base coating with acrylic flat orange, then work your oils magic on that. cheers eh!
