I'm fairly certain that by uploading this I've been marked as future D-Class material, so if you don't see another video by ██/██/20██ you should inform Dr. █████ that I've been reassigned.
Sonic Sledgehammer Studio I bought the art books by Paranormal Activity Books, highly recommend them and of course watching all of the amazing fan films! Here’s hoping to more SCP content from you in the future!
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio I'm all in for painting, that the part I love, don't really play. 10 litres of agrax earthshade should do the trick @ $10.45 aussie dollars for 24ml... $10.45/24x10,000 is... er... $4,354.16.... hmm... damn. A bit pricey. Does my Covid-19 compliant grocery shopping suit really need to be painted? Would anyone mind if I did my shopping in grey primer?
The easiest way to explain is that it's a shared fictional universe; a collaborative writing project. It's basically a massive collection of cryptids, scary folk tales, and things that go bump in the night.
Not having a Level One clearance I could only see the first part when my computer screen went black. The camouflage looks great and I really like this scheme. I will have to try this out. Thanks for sharing this. Do I hear helicopters?
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio Speaking of which, my Pike and Shotte models arrived yesterday so I can start playing with Sludge. You're going to bankrupt me!
Initially I tought it was a Stargrave mini, then I read about Anvil Industry's Digital Forge, it's an astounding range, your work is really OK, it has a near modern vibe without being too sci-fi, it could pass for a light infantry trooper in the Expanse's or Firefly's universe.
These are older packs which aren't available directly through Patreon at the moment, but the packs or individual infantry bits can be picked up from their main store. I've been subscribed to the Forge from day one, though, and haven't regretted it once!
You definitely should! It's super simple. Just switching up the colour under a Contrast paint a fraction will give you a way deeper result sometimes, it's worth experimenting.
Boy Sonic, given the "police state" we see going on in various parts of the world right now I was half expecting my smart phone to lock me out of watching this video due to my lack of having the proper "identity papers". Lol. Great job as always. 👍
Awesome paint scheme. Serious question thou. I just starting hearing about the “MTF” is this a tv show? Anime? A video game? Just curious and would want to get interested in its story. Thanks again for your video, keep up the amazing work!
Unfortunately, I can't really tell you anything directly without ruining the excitement in finding out for yourself... which is part of the draw of the whole thing. What I can say is that with 'Mobile Task Force' you have enough to go on to find out everything you need to know, and far more besides.
These are some nice looking models remind me a bit of those cadians with respirators (only probably cheaper way of doing them than buying upgrade kits). End result looks very impressive.
Anvil have an absolute ton of variant head options that fit the Cadian bodies; there's quite a few respirator choices that wouldn't break the bank compared to the old Forge World ones.
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio I could definitely see some custom imperial guard army with a few of those heads on. Nice these days to be spoilt for choice and not just limited to GW and FW.
There's names for each of the packs, but I don't know that the individual bits are available separately yet. Might be a little digging required to get the specifics, I'm afraid!
I was just about to google some urban camo tutorials for my Exploit Zero project -- I'm in need of some heavy duty H-SEC corporate security -- and this feels as if you were reading my mind! One question though, and I'm agonizing about this: how do you paint close to the chest area without hitting the weapon, or vice versa? Or do you just live with the fact that area will be harder to reach properly and will contain some tiny mistakes and spots of paint in unwanted areas?
The reason I agonize about this: I dislike painting in sub assemblies, I only get inspired enough to commit to painting a mini if I see it completely built. Painting in sub assemblies tends to make me abandon the project :(
Just paint the camo, make a mess, then black the weapon in again later. You don't have to worry about hitting it during the camo stage; it takes just a coat of black and twenty seconds with a brush later on to tidy up. Try not to overthink the process! ;D
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio once I started taking estrogen I noticed it all over the place. Once I got surgery I sent all my friends pictures of MTF outlet converters.
I thought you were a Kiwi! Didn't realise you were in the UK... Anyway nice one for this. I've been doing a camo pattern on my I.G. but this is a better way of doing it. Going to stick with my colours but definitely will base coat, shade and drybrush this way, and try some Tetris shapes. Btw once the camo pattern is done try putting tiny white dots very sparingly - I usually put three together somewhere & that's it for one limb. I sometimes apply them with the head of a toothpick. It looks much better.
I'm a Kiwi, lived in the UK... and now in Germany, so it gets even more confusing trying to explain to people where I'm 'from' most times. 😂 Folks in England assumed I was an Australian, here in Bavaria everyone thinks I'm American, and when I went home to New Zealand for a while after living in the UK, they all assumed I was a 'bloody pom.' I can't win!
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio Hahahaha yeah you sure can't mate! It's good to be well-travelled though. Most people in the city I grew up wanted to live as close to their parents as they could for the rest of their lives. No wonder I wanted to get out asap. And yeah, I know why most people here (UK) thought you were an Aussie - but spend a bit of time around them and you can tell the Kiwi accent apart no problem. If I'm not sure I just ask "Do you wear thongs or jandles brah?". Btw I heard this joke once and never forgot it, it's pretty good: What do you call a good Aussie? ...A Kiwi.
Not yet! I haven't quiiite got the knack on it yet. There's a question of how distinct to make the colours so they're visible on a miniature while still looking like proper marpat, which - aside from a few dark brown flecks - is fairly samey.
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio it's a paradox isn't it? Camoflague is supposed to make things less distinct, but mini painting is all about contrast. I look forward to seeing more camo patterns that you work out and eventually the whole gang next to each other.
I play Raven Guard in 40K and I have several squads of scouts with sniper rifles. I just hate the “bad space marine” feel of the paint scheme from GW. It doesn’t make reasonable sense. They should be an urban camo and this is perfect for them to both be realistic and fit with the RG overall feel of the infiltrator sniper. Can’t wait to give this a go
I'm 100% going to use this method as a base for my Imperial Guard army going to switch out a couple of the paints for stuff I already have available but its going to look very similar thank for coming up with the paint scheme!!!
In theory, sure. Just swap the colors and you should be fine. I'd suggest the angular block shapes might not look quite right for a desert scheme; it might work better to tweak the milcam method I did recently. It certainly wouldn't hurt to try it, though!
Ooh, good call. That'd probably look really good. I might swap for a straight white on their camo instead for a bit more contrast, but it should come out well!
I picked up the Field blue off the back of this and it's a really good colour. My attempts to copy this camo failed completely but I think Field Blue will be an excellent base colour for painting WW2 Nationalist Chinese blue uniforms. One way to find out, I guess!
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio My pleasure , as all ways , All I do is watch , you do all the work , Thank you . (oh , and Steal your methods , but you is putting them out there to be used ,so fair game I say , keep up the great work , and once again, (coz it needs said , ) Thank you .
