For the edge highlight it might help to drag the side of the brush over the edge as opposed to trying to actually paint the edge with the tip of your brush. The side of the brush can easily be manipulated to only touch the edge so is easy and effective! Looks great❤
Nailed it. Doing a squillion high elf gems lately I really like adding a thick blob of Citadel Technical Ardcoat. Really gives them a glossy glass like appearance. Give it a try!
Awesome model indeed. Friend of mine had one that I often borrowed for my Undead/VC army. Having experimented a lot with black (Night Goblin robes), I finally settled for simply edge highlighting Eshin Grey over Abaddon Black, with very subtle dot highlights of Administratum Grey - the result is very dark and it's a quick recipe. Anyway, happy birthday and thanks for the video!
Very nice as always. A sneaky trick to unify red blends is a thin glaze of green on top if you're looking for some next level stuff to try. Sounds scary, looks great.
I'm so glad I found Your channel. Oldhammer and awesome painting skills. Also great work on the vampire, that black collar turned out great; rest of the model is awesome too, but painting black to stand out is so difficult so it needs separate praise :D
Happy Birthday Deets, hope you had a great day! Another great sculpt with possibly the thickest cape in history!! Good job with the painting, tough sculpt to paint this one, but you've done well. I hate painting black too, never can seem to get it right, always comes out looking too grey. Keep 'em coming man, always love watching your video's. cheers,
Thanks so much mate! It was a great day! yeah when I glued on that cape the weight hit me, it felt like a lead sinker haha. Will do! Hope you have a nice weekend 🙌🍻🤝
Happy Birthday dude! Hope you've had a good one.Really like how you've made the black/cloak work here. Trying so hard to mke more time for painting to try out some of the things you're doing!
Thanks my dude! It was a great day! Definitely schedule in some time when you can mate, I look forward to seeing some of your work! Hope you had a nice weekend with a few coffees here and there 😎🍻🙌
Happy birthday and great job dude! I saw this mini on eBay the other day and skipped it over. Watched this video then went back and bought it 😂 cheers mate!
The pose and checkered pattern scarf does give me a bit of a "Go team!" feel. Definitely would not be out of place on the stands of a Blood Bowl match! Hope you have a wonderful birthday!
I'm not normally a critical person and I really hate sounding negative but if I had to give one harsh suggestion for what you're doing with the channel it would undoubtedly be to keep doing what you're doing ;)
Thanks Sarah! 🙌😊 No worries! I have a big mix of brushes but I mainly use cheaper brush brands like Golden Maple, Reno Art and Micador. I get them in larger packs from my local arts and craft shop, they have good tips and I do replace them fairly often as they are cheaper than other brands. I feel comfortable with a size 0 and 00 but people will say go for a size 1 😂 For finer details I’ve been using an Army Painter Precise Detail BR7001. I just got my hands on a Kolinsky Sable this week so I’m excited to see how it goes. I hope that helps 👍
free handing anything is rough I was trying to freehand flames on some 4thed Phoenix Guard's cloaks ended up just doing a bunch of triangles. and what is the back ground music?
Yeah it’s always a bit tough! I freehanded some tiny flames on a Caradryan cape and it was difficult! It’s a royalty free track by Karl Casey (audio bat) but I’m not sure of the name. He has plenty of great music, check him out 👍
well looking good and well HAPPY B DAY and other BLA BLA good halloween yes you what good hint withe sword or enny old hammer mini wit a sword ax you do neat thing to make sharp what is it ??? tack a knight and yes SHAPen that blade that hint take off paint on side of sword or ax or knife try it you might be sipied have fun and se you nest vid hoply not HUNG OVER LOL
Thanks so much mate! Haha I’m not too hung over but I’m a little tired today 😂😎 nothing a couple coffees can’t fix. Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely give that a crack. See you on the next one! 🍻🙌
Great video mate and happy birthday. A couple of tips, hopefully not coming off like a tool. When you’re glazing sometimes it seems like your brush is overloaded. As the consistency becomes very thin and it’s mostly water it’s easy to have too much on the brush. You’ll find you have much more control and not flood the model if you have minimal paint for very thin glazes. Second, I really think you’d benefit hugely from some Kolinsky sable. You’d be surprised how much of a difference it can make. I’d highly recommend Rosemary and Co 33. Size 0, 1 and 2 are great and the quality is unmatched for the price, especially when you factor in how much Australia gets done dirty for art supplies. W&N, Raphael, Escoda and artis opus are great too but the quality gap is negligible to nonexistent. Anyway, just my 2cents, I feel like good brushes are possibly the best investment in the hobby when you’re a keen painter. Keep up the great work, love your style 🤙
