Love the videos Vince, watching your HC 400 where you were talking about the painting as therapy. So true, helps me just get lost in something and not really worry about other stuff or difficult work things. Thanks for your great videos, always a joy to watch them.
That was excellent. I will be rewatching this in anticipation of the big box coming in while tossing up what I want to do. This video is great inspiration. I did have a scheme in mind and had painted 60 of the Isle of Blood clan rats in a mix of teal or magenta depending on allegiance- and they look okay. I'm not completely sold on them but I am working hard on being finished rather than perfect and reminding myself that painting is an additive process that can always be come back to. New rats will heal the soul.
Great video, must admit it was stormcast that got me deep in the warhammer rabbit hole. The rats are new to me, nice paint job but will be a push to see if i even paint one, but never say never in this hobby i have come to realise 😅😅
Hey @vinceventurella I love the fact you are doing "display quality videos now". Let me give you some honest feedback : it looks amazing, really good color scheme, details, clean, right textures... I would up a bit the contrast (go darker in the deepest shadows). As someone that's always watching painting videos, from the photo on the video thumbnail you wouldn't guess the hight quality of the rat, and I think is because of the contrast advise I gave you
The clanrat looks fantastic! Glad you finally get new Skaven to play with. Really like how you did the eyes, but at the same time I'm wondering how it might work if you swapped the red eyes for green for some extra contrast? In my head it either looks amazing, or ruins everything... p.s. I just left a skaven related question over on HC 336. Would really appreciate if you got a chance to check it out, but I appreciate you're a busy man, especially with all the new rats.
Deffo excited to get into spearhead, its looking awesome! Love the tutorial here. Also looking forward to overusing my bad James Cagney dirty rat impressions.
Every kind of Fluo Orange is about to go out of stock thanks to this video. I'm gonna go with a Mordheim tone with mine, but I've taken a lot from this video. Thanks for all your hard work, Vince. I'm really glad you've been rewarded for your patience with these new fabulous models. One question, do you think any of the models in the box would benefit from being painted sub assembled? You probably won't know until you've put brush to plastic on each of them, but maybe you've already got some idea of models which may be annoying to paint fully assembled. Thanks again, Vince.
Another amazing video! You know though, I had half expected a hot pink Skaven. If I’m not mistaken you’d eluded to that paint scheme in your Exploring Colors series Pink
Nice work Vince. I was wondering if we used a wash on the clothing to make it a little stained and greasy looking. I’ve used nuln oil on things in the past where I didn’t want it and it looked dirty.
I'd be more intentional with it, stipple some mud/brown on and such, washes will get you a little too random of an effect and concentrate on the rescess (where there isn't as much dirt).
Hey Vince, thank you so much for this great video. Please could you help me out with the colours you used for the flesh and for the wood. I love your videos so much, but please could you make more videos useing the airbrush more. It is such a powerfull tool for the ultimate speed. All the best to you.
2:03 you would think that needs no explanation, but I felt very old when I listed to Trapped under Plastic and Scott didn't get it. But to be fair Scott is known to miss a reference or two...
Hi Vince great video. I like the fluorescent orange in the red look but I want to make my scene green. How can I get the same effect you did but with greens?
Hey Vince, amazing video thanks... I was wondering about these guys: in your opinion, could they be converted for old world? do you think they could fit in squares? you think they would look aesthetic?
youtube REALLY didnt want me seeing this video, clicking on it brought me to an info page about product placements, meanwhile tabletop times out there advertising a local cofee shop weekly and nothing.
Hey Vince apologies if this has already been asked but is there any chance of getting a Mr Hobby Primer primer? Anything that's not acrylic and water based makes me worried about trashing my airbrush. I realise you've done priming videos fairly recently and there is already some resource out there on this so maybe it's not worth your time, I just trust you more than some random gundam guy's vid I can find. Love the rattos, can't wait to see the finished army!
@@VinceVenturella I had I weird feeling from your response that you may have already filmed or be about to film this! You're a hugely positive impact to my hobby, thanks a bunch!
I like my method of choosing a color scheme. I have a big color wheel on the wall and I through three darts at it, those are my colors. Works horribly!
I'm having fond memories of my LGS with their Skaven release announcement banner from the 90s Knowing how much you love Skaven it's a good day for Vince, and therefore the world
I wish GW made three versions of the box, the normal one, one all Skaven and one all Stormcasts. I just don’t want any more Stormcasts and don’t want to go to the trouble of trying to sell them off. Actually what a want is Skaven vs Seraphon in Lustria, but that’s clearly a bridge too far. 😊
Hi Vince. Really like your videos. I'd like your help. I recently started my own bombardier, but I've been in a bit of a motivation slump lately. I have all of my basecoats down, but unsure how I want the skin to look, or the metal pipe under his foot, the cabling. I feel like I'm over thinking and just can't figure out where to start. Do you ever feel like that with a model, and if so, how do you get yourself out of it?
The answer is to just pick something and go, you will only see if you really like it when you have the colors down. There is no reason to fear, there is no reason to hold back.
Just me or is the quality truly locked at what looks like 240? RU-vid premium sure sucks if it is since I can't change the quality on my phone in the vid settings... Edit: loads of quality option on desktop but not in the RU-vid app. RU-vid is getting dumb
Vince, is the face pretty clearly skin, as opposed to fur? On a real rat, only the tail and paws are really bare, the face is covered with short fur. I’m trying to remember how my daughter used to paint her Skaven. Her army is with her, up in Michigan. I’ll have to get her to send me some photos.
Is the Skaven half likely to come out on it's own? I'm not interested at all in the other guys. If not, how many people are likely to want to buy just them?
@@VinceVenturella Thanks! Skaven will be my first army project after loads of BB teams and some sinle minis and I've been planning how to engage with it for months. First decision, bought myself an airbrush ;) Again, your channel is incredible, I devour every video and have been going trough old content (I started painting 2-3 years ago) Thanks!!
My plan is to paint my rats in the colors/style of the WHFB 4th edition cover--the first Warhammer book and army I ever owned. I'm so glad they've finally received their much needed model update.
Great video. It's really visible how excited you are about the new skaven. I, for my part, really can't decide if i want to repaint my army or stick with my old color scheme. It feels so un skaven😄
Folls like you who have been in the hobby for so long who have been die hard fans of the Skaven since their introduction are the part of the community Im am most happy and excited for. I cant imagine the feeling as someone who has only been in the WH hobby a few years now. I didnt assume you were going to knock out this box immediately or even within the next couple weeks because of your genuine love for the Skaven. I cant wait to see what you do next and am looking forward to the completed Skaven side of the box. Also, assuming their will be a wave 2 of skaven releases, what are you hoping to see next thats brand new and what do you think will get refreshed from the remaining old sculpts?
