This this the first time I have watched any of your videos. I loved the simplicity of what you have shared with us. I look forward to watching you again. I am now a subscriber...
Great video! There are these old books from my mother laying around that I didn’t want to throw away. Now I have something I can do with them that will also serve as a sweet reminder.
It is definitely a great reminder. There is something special about repurposing a loved one's old book. I really feel that the book I paint on is special because it was my dad's and since he is no longer around, it is a way to remember and stay connected, while also creating something new. Have fun with it!!
Hey i recently stumbled on your videos and i am so in love with your art style and the way you explaon everytbing.im now a subsriber and will keep waiting for new ones.....how about an online art class?
Hi, The matte medium (as well as gesso) creates a sealed surface so you won’t get quite the same result as you would on actual watercolor paper. But it does create a nice textured look. I usually stick to acrylic with heavy gel matte medium. I have tried watercolor with it but I didn't enjoy it as much - then again, I prefer acrylic paint (and occasionally gelly gouache) over any other kind of paint.
@@patriciasalem3606 Hi Patricia, I have only been practicing with jelly gouache and have not tried sealing it. I have had no issues in my art journal with it though. I wonder if a spray seal would work as well?
In this video the book pages are a semi gloss. I have another book that is matte. I think I prefer the semi gloss for when I use the book as an art journal. The books with matte pages I tear up and use as collage on my art. I also use acrylic paints when art journalling on old books (not watercolour paints). Thanks for watching!
@@KristaIreneArt Thank you so much for your quick response! I've been playing with making art in old books that I'm rescuing from local libraries and your videos are such a big inspiration :)
