The warmer weather has transformed Scotland into a lush paradise...ok almost warm! In this video I'll take you along to the coast for some plein air and talk about the experience. I guess on the plein air you will be talking about both watercolor and gouache. It will be fun to see what all you include. Being land locked here I really enjoy seeing the water, waves, sea fog etc.

love watching you paint and explain about your process. You mentioned that you liked painting boats - there is a Canadian painter by the name of Shari Blaukopf who also loves boats and paints them frequently.

Thanks Sarah.. the camera and drone footage was fantastic and as usual another gorgeous painting. I struggle with getting the right colours for the water but just loved how you did yours. Do you remember what colours you used as the combination was perfect.

Phthalo turquoise and burnt umber, buff titanium and cerulean, lemon yellow, ultramarine…various ratios of those

Beautiful work. I'm a beginner gouache painter and find your work so inspiring. How do you create your illusions on such a small scale? It seems like with a simple line you can create an image of something. I feel like I'm creating big blobs instead of an illusion of something. I know I know patience and practice right? Thanks for sharing.

One thing that helped was learning how to use my brushes in creative and unique ways. Lots of experimenting! Dry brush is also key

I loved "joining you" on the coast! Beautiful scenery and as always enjoy seeing some of your process. I did Pleinairpril and it was my first Plein Air experience. I started VERY small: paper on a small clipboard, water brushes and small palette. For various reasons, I adjusted kit after the first half. If I hadn't committed to Pleainairpril I don't know that I would have continued or pursued other kit. I am glad that I "had" to keep going as ultimately, I fell in love with Plein Air and have things that work for me: some from seeing your experience, and some from others and from my own experience as to what didn't work for me.

In Scotland you are not allowed to fly over 400 ft, and some areas are off-limits. I usually don’t go above 200 ft. There might be different restrictions for big drones. Mine is small

have you seen the historical artist generate the communities on time team? they were at loch migdale on a manmade island. your interest in fantasy work and being there made me think of you. now they use only technology. the episode was only 11 yrs ago but the archivist is also is gone. have you thought of applying your art the the history there?
