Painting Realistic Shelf Fungi

I've been making these 3d printed shelf fungi for an upcoming Halloween project and finally got around to painting them today. I really had no idea where to start on these so I printed out a reference photo of some fungi I liked the look of, and dove into it. I fiddled with the first one a little and figured out that doing it messy, over and over a few times gave me a very realistic result. It felt kinda stupid using my fingers to smear and blend the paint, but the results were amazing!

These turned out really nice. The painting brought them to life.

Ive been wanting to have a skeleton with a bunch of mushrooms attached to it. Also have another one laying down with mushrooms growing all over it. Kinda hope thats your plan.

Very convincing! Where (and how) do you plan to attach them?

Original formula Gorilla Glue should hold them well since they have holes for magnets in the back that the glue can grab into. They were designed to be refrigerator magnets, I have just repurposed them for my project.

Wow they look fantastic! I tried years back to just make them out of clay and foam, not as perfect as these obviously! #friendswith3dprinters
