Painting the Assassin's Creed Shadows trailer ✦ the first video game I ever played 

Last I checked a Retainer is a typpe of Samurai. Now whether Yasuke was really one i dont know, but seeing as though Japan has a statue of him in a Samurai museum plus , have him as a samurai in documentaries, and made every version of him they portrayed in games, flim, and tv as a Samurai....im assuming homeboy is a Samurai.

@CreativeWM_Personal the museum is Japanese. The documentaries they made about him are also Japanese. The childrens books about homeboy are also Japanese. And I'm pretty sure him being portrayed in japanese games like Nioh and more is also japanese. So...I don't know bro. They portray him as a Samurai in their OWN media. So what's the big deal? There was even a Japanese movie last year with Yasuke in it as a Samurai called Kubi I think? Does not change the fact that a retainer is a type of Samurai. Again I have no way of knowing if Japan is telling the truth about his status, but seeing as though it's THEIR culture and history, if they see and treat him like a Samurai who are we to say he is not?

@@froggylegs1499 the people working on AC Shadows aren't Japanese and use non Japanese sources. Also how can a historical figure we know next to nothing about officially be queer and why does the marketing say that we're freeing Japan from its oppressors? The only people in Japan at the time are Japanese People and why the use of techno music when beheading people as a black guy? This game is not going down well with actual Japanese people who see it as an insult to their history, culture and heritage.

@CreativeWM_Personal I was responding to your "he is a retainer, not samurai" post. Not the game it's self. I'm not the kind of person who talks crap about something before it comes out. Japanese have loveed and respect Yasuke for years which is why he is sitting in their Samurai history museum and in their games, manga, and documentaries, children books and so on as Samuri. I don't know how they feel about this game yet, as I dont live in japan and the game is not out XD , but they can't be that mad as all 3 versions of the games were the stop selling perorders over there by a land slide. But I'm sure there are some that are pissed because black guy. Every body can be racist. I did not know they made Yasuke queer but hey I played a game where he is Vampire Cybrog Samuri and I there is also one where he is a big titty girl so, meh? It's not trying to be a history game so who cares? The music thing is a silly argument , friend. Naruto had hip hop, jazz, and guitar. So did Samurai Champloo and Nioh. And also every JRPG has music that is not accurate to the times. Last i check all the gamer gate bros were defending "creators freedom" when it game down to that Korean game with a doll like girl and her body, but now people are attacking the "creatoers freedom" literally just cuz AC decided to make a game where Yasuke is playable? So when is it okay for someone to make a game about this guy? (Sorry for the rant, this is a fun discussion)

What are you talking about he is a real person from the time period they’re depicting??

​@@IBTL1There was one, only one African samurai in the whole history of Japan. He was remembered ONLY because he was not Japanese. That's the only achievement. So, they are making a game about our region, and one of the 2 main characters is non-Asian. Sure, it sounds right to me. [sarcasm] Next time they are making a game about Africa, I am expecting the main character to be a European or an Asian.

The game isn’t even out yet! You’re coming up with conclusions based on what you THINK they’ll do. Can you not wait to see some reviews before complaining? I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but the AC franchise isn’t exactly historically accurate to say the least. Let’s all wait until the game is out, THEN pass judgement.

@@ingakit5381 Japanese media have had depictions of Yasuke for decades now. Depicting him as a stalwart warrior that’s noble to Nobunaga. It doesn’t matter if he’s the only African samurai, he’s still a small part of Japanese history. Your saying this as if there aren’t other games that you can play with 100% Japanese cast of characters. Just going off of your comment, it feels like you think Yasuke is in the game either to win diversity points or out of spite. Why couldn’t they have chosen him simply because he would be an interesting character to write about?

@@oshares4422 Once again, I am not buying it. If someone is making a game about our region I want the main characters who are in fact Asian. You may do as you wish. I was talking only for myself. Peace.
