In january a very dear friend of mine and fellow artist, Christopher Pollari, who was like a grandfather to me, passed away after short serious illness, and all I could do was sit here on the other side of the pond, unable to do anything. This painting represents the darkness of that time, the sadness and hopelessness I felt and still do sometimes. It's something I do occasionally when I feel down and depressed, I just paint the darkness out. And so I did with this one here too.

Hi there, my name is Marlies, I'm a traditional artist from Germany and I mainly work with graphite, coloured pencil and acrylics. Lately I also try to get into watercolours a bit. I mostly draw human portraits, but lately also animals and the occasional flower or plant. I do (fantasy) landscape paintings as well.
Annnd … as you have probably guessed, another habit of mine is to try out new art supplies, because it's fun!
