Love this series of behind the Scenes focusing on the tremendous talents of these artist that bring these figures to life thank you sideshow for giving these tremendous artist from painters, photographers etc the appreciation they deserve, that without them these collectables would not be possible...well done sideshow and thank you for a marvelous series.
Their ability to pull detail out of resin is inspiring. You should see about a collab. Most of these videos are procedural, I would like to see tips, tricks and products based video. sounds like something right up your channel's alley.
the actual ones are definitely painted by cheap chinese labourers, you can even tell this particular model is 3d printed as you can see the layer lines
It's still just a piece of cheap plastic, I don't care how many layers of paint they put on it. They should consider another material with some weight and quality feel to it.
@@SweetTorment72 there's still likely hundreds of hours of labor behind it for both sculpting and painting- a more expensive material would _add_ to the cost, not 'justify' it
Okay, I'm not only gonna freak out by the amazing talent of the artist, but will also point out the great talent of the editor of this video. Oh my God that was really well recorded, organised and edited. Amazing work guys!
@@DuoFurey sometimes I wonder why they don't just use the same or similar factories hot toys uses. I mean sideshow has been their distributor for years now and have even collaborated on some stuff, but I know it's probably not that simple.
@@mandocalrissian6454 Hot toys stuff is very posesable unlike sideshow which is a big plus to hot toys. Sideshow is more akin to prime1studios because they are just statues. Prime1 being much better but the price difference shows.
I love watching the process of painting with traditional tools and brushes. The Mandalorian Premium Format figure has one of the best paint jobs I've seen! Great video SSC - thanks Bernardo and Anthony!
WHOA, SOMEONE I ACTUALLY SUBSCRIBE TO IS HERE IN THE COMMENTS?! Could you upload more comparisons and reupload the "famous people portrayals in movies" compilations please?
@@dimitreze aw man... Do you have a patreon or some other platform? Just know you'll ALWAYS have my support bc I really enjoy and appreciate your videos!👍
If ever there was a question concerning the cost of SSC's collectibles, these videos do a great job in showing us just what we are paying for--Michelangelo in miniature! I truly admire the skill and passion that goes into your products.
@@vhscopyofseinfeld I’d gladly pay the $1250 for the prototypes they show. The final version of The Child has such a horrible paint job it’s hard to keep it.
Some really interesting techniques you don't see from some other painters--flicking a toothbrush for mud/oil splatters, spritzing alcohol, sea sponge for softening washes. Nice!
Fascinating to watch. So the master does the proto, then onto the factory. Is there a chance of touring the factory? I just wonder how many people are included in the task of bring each figure to market? Awesome work!!!
I am having BIG problems painting my Grogu sculpture and am amazed with the blue wash and then the magenta and yellow in the ears. Amazingly detailed tiny scale painting. They both look amazing Bernardo and Anthony.
Wow. It’s amazing the amount of work that goes into these pieces. Takes my appreciation for my collection to a whole new level. Definitely make more videos like this, Sideshow.
I am fairly new to the hot toys Star Wars collectibles. When I first place my pre-order for the Kenobi series version of Darth Vader I could not believe how long they said the wait time would be. Now, after watching this video I have a whole new appreciation for the amazing talented people with this company that do things by hand. This is the first video that I have watched about the making of and I am blown away. What a wonderful bunch of craftsmen and women you have doing the beautiful work. New subscriber, new customer. Very impressed
Wow!!! Im astonished someone could be this talented, and your knowledge of how to achieve the effects and colours is seriously on another level... Why on earth is there people with the thumbs down??? What didnt they like or admire about your work??? Idiots!!! Great video, thanks Les
Uh, they aren't. They are painted overseas. Only a couple prototypes are hand painted. Production pieces are not hand painted and are not even close to this level.
This reminds me when woody was all damage and this guy came in and fixed his arm, gave him a nice cleaning and new colors covering at the end ANDY´s name on his boot.
Kinda what I was thinking too. Still an amazing paintjob, but even when Mando first gets the Beskar suit, it already looks like it's been outside in the dirt for weeks.
