I love Sennelier! I think they are affordable and I love their colors! My favorite is sap green, such a beautiful color! It has some separation, the blue separates and it gives such a nice look. Very subtle, yet stunning in my opinion. Just thinking about it makes me so happy!

Gifts is not buying... :D Lovely christmas/birthsday gift. I love Sennelier watercolours. I haven't tried their tube paints though. I only got some of the pan colours. They layer so nicely. I really like your loose paintings here. Looking forward to seeing more cat paintings.

Yay the sennelier😍😍 so pretty, I absolutely love Payne’s grey. Your swatches came out so much better than mine, I think I tend to go heavy on the water😂 oh well. Love that loose style for the cat and bridge. The bloopers😂😂

I like really concentrated colors, so I tend to go heavy on ghee pigment and light on the water. :-D. Your second layer on your swatches looked great, though! Looking forward to seeing you use them!

Beautiful paints but alas the honey. I've been in a search for a good indigo so I went back to your brand comparison. Love the Qor. But a big problem here with the humidity. My Sap Green Qor is always super tacky. So I'm going to try the Holbein. Thought the Mission Gold looked like Payne's grey.

Yeah, humidity is not an issue for me here in Colorado, thankfully. I also re-watched that comparison video this morning. The Holbein was pretty decent, so that'll be a good choice. The Mission Gold definitely looked like Payne's Grey, and now I have a good set of those paints, too, which is really fun.

That is a very generous gift indeed. Sennelier is a great brand of paint. I love that they remain somewhat sticky to the touch in the area of the world I live in - a lot like M. Graham, which means that they rewet very easily. I hope you get to see your family soon.

i went to amazon while watching this video i caved and got the 12 10ml.student grade 34.00 instead of 83.00 .if i ever sell my work ill get your set for now im still learning after 26 years of acrylics .im also going to start oils this year thank you for bringing art videos i love them happy late birthday

hello Miranda, Great little late Birthday/Christmas present. Hopefully, you'll be able to see this side of your family pretty soon. My only professional watercolours are all Sennelier and Schmincke, which are really good. The Sennelier are very good if you like layering colours, they are famous for that. Your cat is adorable. The Calico cats tend to be quite spirited animals. Have a nice weekend experimenting with your new paints. V.

I love getting new watercolors, I have never tried the Sennelier watercolors, but I have some M Graham coming and they also have a honey binder so I'm curious if the constancy would be similia. Have you noticed if any of the colors granulate?

Hi, Naomi! I've looked several places online, including Sennelier's own website, and I've been unable to find information about which of these colors granulate, but by looking at my dry swatches, I would GUESS that out of these 12, the Forest Green, Deep Ultramarine and Warm Sepia might be granulating colors. Possible the French Vermillion and Payne's Grey as well, but I just can't find anywhere to tell me for sure. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. :-)

@@MirandaWatsonArt This is helpful, thank you! I never used to like granulating colors but the more I use them the more I don't mind them so I'm always looking for unique ones that will granulate and see a slight color difference like Moonglow from Daniel Smith :)

I ended up receiving the 8 half pan set of sennelier for my bday and for me especially they are more convenient than the tubes, mainly where I have so many cats running around everywhere to the point where no matter where I place poured paint to dry out they'll find it and treck it everywhere throughout the house so things that come already in pans is a must for me.

Right? Those cats seem to get into everything! I was able to stick these filled full pans in the palette and just gently set the lid down over the tin and that seemed to work for me this time. But if you're going to end up with pans anyway, it probably IS a good idea to just start that way; especially since many companies do the binder a little differently sometimes in their pans versus their tube paints. :-D

Yeah, I couldn't choose between them, so that's definitely why I kept them both on my Wishlist. I was so glad to receive two of the three sets that I had there! I have great family and friends.

You have just answered a biiig question for me: I was wondering whether that metal tube-holder part can be removed from this palette. Subscribed. 🙂 I use magnets for my pans and have a big one for all and a small one for travel. With the magnets I can just choose a different set of paints for a limited palette, it's so easy to switch them. And who would've thought that those 12 half-pan sets can actually hold 21 colors, which is more than enough for a travel set. 😂

Oh, good, I'm glad this was helpful! It took some good prying, but it did pop right out. It's so much more useful now. Magnets are a great idea, too! I love the thought of interchanging colors, thanks for that!

What a beautiful and generous gift! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. It's interesting that the tube holder bit came out, and it works well as a marker stand, lol! I had trouble finding any info about the red, I still have no idea what the pigment is. I like the colours they have chosen for this set. The warm sepia is an excellent brown! I love the looseness of your kitty painting, it looks really great! The bridge is super bright and pretty. Between you and Alexis releasing your videos, I am totally inspired once again to do a painting with my Sennelier palette! ❤

That set is beautiful, i only have a few senneliers...but the ones I do have are gorgeous!! Im on my second pan of that forest green, so beautiful. I love how you are like an artist chameleon, by that I mean-you can just watch a video and first try, paint in someone elses style, so beautifully, it's incredibly inspiring:) Thanks for sharing, great video as always...Much love❤

Really enjoyed this video. Agreed, Sennelier paints are great. Only have a few tubes that were actually given to me from a family I know who’s mother passed away who was an artist. Beautiful cats and a beautiful painting of your calico. You’re lucky to have such a nice family to have gifted you this set. Also, I commend you on restraining yourself from buying anymore art supplies this year. I know I wouldn’t be able to do it. Good luck!

What a wonderful present. Love your cat. Seeing the bridge reminded me that the original Sennelier store is on the river. In the early 90's, I bought some pastels there. I was surprised at how small the shop was. I have had trouble off and on from pan palettes leaking. I now put packing tape on the bottom of them. If you palette leaks from taking stuck out, you might want to try doing that. Thank you for another enjoyable video.

If this is supposed an introductory set of primaries, then their choices of colors are quite lacking. To represent most natural colors you need the following: 3 warm primaries, 3 cool primaries, the 3 secondaries, burnt umber, and b&w for opaque mediums (payne's gray and possibly Aussie Gold for watercolor instead). These rest of the colors mentioned can't be mixed with just 3 primaries in their highest brightness (e.g. you can't get the brightest lime green with yell+blue, neither a true purple with magenta+blue etc -- surprisingly, same is true for deep burnt umber). That's why oil painters maintain that they need that set of 12 colors as minimum to do their job. Anything extra is indeed convenience colors. This set instead comes with 3-4 colors that fall into the primary category, and the rest of the colors are just extraneous convenience colors. Instead, they add the useless opera pink, which is highly fugitive. Who are they kidding? Very disappointing in this set AND on 95% of the sets found by other companies too. It's almost criminal to release basic sets that don't contain all primaries/secondaries as required for proper mixing.
