I've been using the nighthawk for over 400 hours. it is my favorite and i've have a lot of dust boots(4 machines) in my shop. i've tried a lot, made a lot, and people given me a lot. it by far is the best solution i've found.

THanks for this! You have inspired me - I am currently working on making a modded dust boot, this got me thinking. Keep up the good work.

Sweet! I use one of their vortex bucket ones on my shopvac and love it, because I definitely didn't need one of their HUGE wall ones. I'll have to look more into this one since it seems about right for my needs.

I also have the nighthawk on my journeyman. The combo works great for me and get 80% plus of the dust depending on the cut

You read my mind, Hamilton. 😂 I picked up my new dust collector last night, and my Nighthawk boot should be here today. Hopefully, I'll get everything assembled by this evening and be carving again by tomorrow. I have plans in the works for this whole process to be my very first RU-vid video. I am not too far from you in Canton and would love to pick your brain sometime on some ideas.

I started going down the shop vac, then the fan/bag with 4" hose route and realized I needed a cyclone. That was 15 years ago then I stopped. Now retired and playing with a 3018, MDF saw dust went everywhere, I remembered cyclones, tiny Coffee jar/spray bottle Cyclone got made. They work great if you have that boot, $30 for a clear magnetic one, more important than a spindle upgrade. Due to the maker movement and YT plenty of vids on making dust collectors. If you CNC wood, dust collection is needed, no matter what size machine.

For your perfect dust boot - I fully agree, and can I add that it has a mount for the JTech laser on the front (14w for preference), and maybe even uses the dust extractor for fume extraction, too.

ive been using the shop vac and the onieda cylone no isses but fine dust being air born from the router air blowing down that fine dust will kill you too lol so i like this video show down of dust collections systems as I entend to make changes and from what i see i think its going to a spindle instead of the router

Thanks for the comparison Hamilton. Choosing a boot for my onefinity is something I'm going through myself. I'm considering the carbide 3d sweepy since it's compact and comes with a 36mm adapter for my hose. Which hose were you using with your festool vac? Going from 27 to 36mm made a huge difference for me. Keep at it. You're one of the extremely few content creators who I genuinely feel hold no bias when given free products. Looking forward to your next videos. Have a great weekend!

Hamilton, I know this is an older video but I am curious to know if you have tried or would try running that SuperCell dust collector on your CNC and another tool at the same time? I am getting ready to add a CNC to my little hobby shop and would like to be able to have it running while using another tool like my table saw or planner. Thoughts?

Hi there, Looking at your video, I see the bearing on the Z axis is coming lose and about to workout of the mount and come out the top of the Z carriage. (right side)

I have the PWNCNC v10, which seems very similar to the Nighthawk.... Z axis dependent and works very well (with proper DC of course). Also has several... at least what I believe to be... improvements over the Nighthawk: Maglock style quick hose disconnect; magnetic 'spacer' inserts so you can quickly and easily adjust the height of the brushes, as well as different size brush ring attachments. It is also very easy to remove if you need it out of the way, like for a laser... simply loosen one clamp and it pops right off. Is there something different about the Nighthawk that makes it better?

I've used several different dust boots and dust collectors, I've found one of the biggest issues is 3d carving I've seen every dust boot I've purchase fail in 3d carving from brushes being pull off and destroyed to damaging the piece I'm working on, any more I stopped using a boot on 3d carves. As for dust collection system, I started using shop vac years ago then bought a Laguna P flux 3 and now Im back to a Fein, why I have found running a 3HP for a 12 hour carve really heats up my shop and my mini split AC cant deal with 104 out side and 95 plus heat producing dust collection.. Plus a 3 hp duct collection is a major power hog all of these things cut into profit margin when producing for pieces for income. So in all the testing you did on flat boards I would believe just about any boot would work, or at least that what I have experienced. To be clear I have not used nighthawk I did click on your provided link to take a look, kind of shocked at 200 bucks for it but not much I can say about that. Thanks for doing all the testing and I fully concur with your dust boot "need" especially the storage above the CNC.

I have the exact same Dust Collector from Oneida, but I went with the Supercell Turbo with the 30 Gallon drum since I needed a smaller footprint because of the size of my shop. That thing is awesome and I have no regrets buying it!!! But I have a question... I want to add a couple tools to my dust collection setup and so I need a few more T-Joints and some blast gates / blast gate adapter. (Essentially a 4" to 4" Crimped end and 2 inches long.) But Oneida has a crazy long wait time. It's a 5 day wait from the time you order to the time it ships. I was curious if you went 100% Oneida recommended duct work or if there were other ducting you liked as well that might ship faster...

I just came across this video yesterday and was kind of stunned at the Supercell capabilities - it appears you've had it about a year now and I wonder if you would comment on its performance since then. Also, I'm curious which SuperCell you have - the High Pressure or the Turbo I realize it has been a year but hopefully you're still monitoring the older threads Thanks

I'm sorry I loved your content but saying a dust extractor worth your cnc is good is useless. I would have appreciated a comparison to a 100$ vacuum more useful. I really hope you don't get too successful to be out of touch like so many others.

I bought you carveco teaching series and its a joke ....... your volume is so low I can barely hear you, also its not for begginers because you go right into defining work space, I don't even have the software and zero clue what machine to buy ............ you oversell and under perform ........ I want a refund !!!!
@HamiltonDilbeck
@HamiltonDilbeck Год назад
I'm glad that I saw this comment! Please email support@learnyourcnc.com and we will get you sorted out! For anyone reading this comment- Ted seems to think that the course is geared towards beginner cnc general knowlege. This course is meant specifically for Carveco Maker+ and does not go over specific machines to buy... The contents of this course are clearly laid out. I'm unsure where Ted's expectations came from- but I assure you that if you go into this course thinking that I will be detailing different machines and guiding your purchases, I will certainly under perform. The course can take anyone from knowing nothing about cnc software to designing their first project all in the same day. Also for those reading, any refunds will automatically void your month free of Carveco Maker+. My goal is to teach people so that they can feel confident with what they are trying to create. Comments like this bum me out, but all I can do is respond truthfully to them. Thanks for reading!
