Lahore today is fairly developed, quite a middle class city, people like the couple in the video. Loss of the hindu/Sikh was immense and the loss of business with India. Many of these people went to India and are millionaires, from Sindh & peshawar aswell, so India benefitted

For me the most astonishing fact was that to avoid riots people preferred converting to Christianity rather than Islam. That shows what those people felt about Islam. There have been many instances when people preferred to die rather than convert to islam. Others who converted did so out of extreme distress.

@@travelearthwithme1699 it's surprising that you say this and this shows that you don't understand how it works. Islam has been mostly against Hindus and Sikhs. So converting to Hindu wouldn't have solved the problem. Islam is against non Abrahamic religions which means that they cannot tolerate any religion which has idols or multiple god's. Islam's earlier prophets were Jews or Christians like Moses, Jesus etc hence they don't have much problem with Christianity. I hope this helps you understand. You should also check out how many people especially westerners have converted to hinduism as its the most ancient and advanced religion. Your comment clearly shows that you know nothing about Hinduism and are biased against it.

Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad who was first and illiterate education minister of India had strongly opposed partition. Many of his famous speeches are available. But his major worry according to his speeches was that if muslims would be divided, islamization of india could be delayed. Imagine about 60 crores of muslims in undivided India in 2021. Surely by now it would have been Islamic state of India !

Britain chose Barrister Sir Cyril Radcliffe to draw the boundary that would demarcate the Punjab and Bengal provinces. Radcliffe had never visited British India or written about it ever in his professional life as a lawyer. He virtually did not know anything about the subcontinent, and despite that, he was chosen to draw the boundaries between two volatile countries. Perhaps the only reason he was involved was they wanted somebody who'd make an 'unbiased' decision.

Exactly.... Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad who was first and illiterate education minister of India had strongly opposed partition. Many of his famous speeches are available. But his major worry according to his speeches was that if muslims would be divided, islamization of india could be delayed. Imagine about 60 crores of muslims in undivided India in 2021. Surely by now it would have been Islamic state of India !

Kuldip Nayyar was a great ambassador of peace and he was a very respected journalist (some will have different opinion as he had his share of controversial statements too). He started tradition of candle light vigil during midnight of August 14 and 15 at Wagah border in year 2000 to bring people of both the countries closer to each other nd the tradition still continues even after he passed away in 2018. His birthplace was Sialkot and he studied from Lahore.
