And Ramiz Raja sir had an accident with boundary board while fielding...sad...Those were days Ind Pak matches were too furious....Love from india...india Pak always brothers
I cant forget this match. I had an off from college to watch this match. But could watch only 15 overs as my grand mother died in front of my eyes at home. 😢😢
Pakistan looked dreadful and WI cruised to victory, to think they would win the WC. But it was a treat to see Lara, you can see the pure class, he simply looks majestic!
Carribians also gave up a good chance in 1987 wc sf birth ( Walsh did not use mankad out to salim jaffer if he did it wI would got semi-final birth might won wc also )
Well there were great moments for all superstars likes of Martin crow, Sachin, jhonty to name a few but Aqib Javed also played vital part at crucial phases. Specially That wicket of Greatbtach in semifinal was a Dimond otherwise NZ were eyeing 300 which would have been an impossible chase for Pakistan. Greatbatch was looking dangerous that day. Love CWC 1992😍😘
Hello friend U missed to tell fielding king johnty ( I kept a superb blowup still picture of johntyrhodes who was laying horizontalyl in the air) and u also missed kiwis marauding captain Martin crow
lara's knock in that game presented inkling of what the cricketing world going to witness. I clearly remember that game. We, the friends of NIVH Dehradun had been gripped by the world cup mania. I was in 8th standard. We used to get fascinated when Desmond haynes would score hundred. We wandered who would surpass Desi. We were bit disappointed as Haynes missed hundred but enjoyed the Windiz comprehensive victory.
@@midshipsport : Indian or not I find Pak 92 win a 100% credit to the rain gods and the one who set its rules for rain washed matches. Best WC has to be Sri Lanka 96 and even 82 if not the recent Eng win
@@manojshetty4 yes for sure. The rain intreviened in the 80 all out match vs ENg and vs S.A... yeah true.. but this team continued playing well and won a lot for series tests and odi all around the world.
It's a decent knock by Ramiz. Cricket used to be tough before mid 1990s - and West Indies were like the Brazil(Soccer) of International Cricket at that time - from 1980 to 1995,they never lost a test series anywhere in the world. Though it's a bit selfish,it's unfortunate to see so many jingoistic comments from Pakistani fans regarding this knock.
Dipak B.C. Lara was a peerless Batsman in the class of very few greats of the era. Javed was talented & a fighter but Lara was natural talent like many other WI players.
This a match where all my favorites are playing accept IMRAN khan. Wasim Alram, Kaved Miandad, Inzi,C.Ambrose, R.Richardson, C.Hooper, M.Marshal and my special boy the best batsman of the world B.R.Lara. What a match it was 🌸
Sorry, but I watch this match live in 1992. Ramiz Raja was considered one of the attacking batsman in those times. This innings although seems slow to you but watching it live in those days "was not that slow". It was a good innings. If Pakistan had won then it would be considered man of the match effort. trust me.
Imran khan should have took Salem jaffer for Waqar younus and Asif Mujtaba for saeed Anwar but he too a lot of inexperienced to put all batting pressure on Javaid Mindad. If Ijaz Ahamed bowled more than 5 hours Salem jaffer was an excellent bowler .
@@sk-4464 it was the strategy of thise times, a opening batsmen like ramiz raja, ravi shastri should stay and play as many as balls he could so that ball is dried up and it will be easy for next batsmen though many times this startergy turned out to be disastrous.
In my opinion Lara nd Saeed Anwar in same class as a batsman each player has his positive and negatives... Saeed possessed varied ranges of cricketing strokes in his repertoire too
Only against India and Sri Lanka and in Sharjah never played well against Australia southafrica ,mohd Yusuf and inzamam were great batsman scored run every where
Don't compare Brian Charles Lara with Anwar. Lara is incomparable with any asian cricketers his knock 277 in Aus 400 in eng 200 in sl 375 in eng 9 double tons .... Sachin dis not score 200 in Lanka S

1996 cricket world cup is the most unique world cup ever played among the 19 cricket world cups till date ( including 7 T20 world cups). Below are few facts : 1. Only world cup to be won by a co-host nation. Sri Lanka won final in Lahore and not on home soil 2. Only final in which both captains were left handed batsman 3. Only final match to be held in pakistan 4. Pakistan is the only country which hosted a world cup final without hosting a semi final match !!!! 5. Only final to have a century in a success full chase. Arvinda di silva scored 107. 6. Only time world cup trophy was handed over by head of a state. Benazir bhutto the then PM of Pakistan handed over the trophy to arjuna ranatunga. 7. 1996 world cup is the only tournament in which both finalists despite being in the same group never faced each other in earlier stages of the tournament. Australia did not go to sri lanka for its pool game due to security reasons and sri lanka was given 2 default points 8. Arvinda di silva is the most productive man of match player with 107 runs 3 wickets n 2 catches 9. Sanath jayasurya is the least productive all rounder to win player of series award 10. Only world cup final among the 4 final match appearances of Glen McGrath where he went wicketless 11. Only 50 over world cup match till date in which sri lanka beat Australia 12. Only World cup when India played at Eden Gardens Calcutta in 50 over world cup !!!! 13. Only 50 over world cup in which West indies lost a semi final match 14. 1996 was the last time West indies reached semi final stage in 50 over world cup 15. Ind vs Sri Lanka semi final, only test or odi in history which was awarded due to rioting crowd !! 16. Only World Cup in sub continent when India did not host the final match. 17. Only World Cup final in which Glen McGrath and Shane warne went wicketless 18. Only World cup where all semi finalist belonged to same group 19. Ony World Cup final where Glen McGrath, Shane Warne and Ricky ponting were on the losing side 20. Only World Cup where the opening match did not have any of the host nations
@@deepchatterjee5123 consolation retired hurt it was , I still remember world cup 92 , that was the series made 3 of the greats of 90s , lara , sachin , inzi , except that stupid rule of rain , and who ever won or lost 92 world cup was the best world cup by a margin massive playing areas what atmosphere it was
@@javedsultan4830 the fielding restriction were there in that world cup for the first 15 overs , ''By 1992, only two fielders were allowed outside the circle in the first fifteen overs, then five fielders allowed outside the circle for the remaining overs. This was shortened to ten overs in 2005, and two five-over powerplays were introduced, with the bowling team having discretion over the timing for both.''
Cricket was at its best, batters were not butchers, bowlers had some thing to offer, and above all batsmen had to earn their runs but running hard. Now cricket is more like base ball. I simply don't understand what will be the ultimate fate of this game. It has lost its balance in favour of batsmen. Importance of running between the wickets is way less these days
Don't blame Rameez Raja for his slow inning as it was an old fashioned cricket in 1992. As Miandad said in the end 220 or 230 is a fighting total. Just watch Sachin inning in 2011 wc semi final and then blame Rameez.
Even Tony Greig and David Gower repeatedly said that he had batted slow during the commentary then what makes anyone say it was attacking. He scored 49 of 115 balls before he picked up. Had he scored his 50 of 75 balls as was the norm back then , Pakistan could easily have scored 40-45 runs more for the loss of 2 wickets
Sachin played like that becoz india lost back to back wickets and dhoni, raina were only batsmen left, but here rameez playing slow is totally useless.
I couldn't believe this pakistani team won that world cup with the presence of ramiz raja in the team what a selfish player he was he played only for his hundred he make his hundred on 158 balls
Not that I defend Rameez's scoring rate, but to put it into context at the time, run scoring strategies were transitioning with the old school tactics employed by the likes of Pakistan, Australia etc being challenged by the innovative pinch-hitting NZ introduced. Rameez's strike rate was no worse that many other opening batsmen of the time. Boon's 100 against WI was off 146 balls. In the end, Pakistan's tactics were effective enough to win the cup but today, their run scoring strategy of play slow early and go berserk at the end with wickets in hand would not win them many, if any, matches.
10 wicket ki haar me bhi tujhe choke nahi dekhe perfect Yorker dekh gaya madarchod musalman perfect yorker wo hota hai jispe bold out mile .matlab gand mar gai usme bh kah raha hai ki maja aaya
Very slow and defensive start of Pakistani cricket team. That was pakistani first match of world Cup 1992. I still remember West indies won by 10 wickets I think and Laura injured by wasim akram's yorker.
Anybody might say everything but honestly that's the startegy every nation employed during those days we can't blame Rameez for his slow batting on the contrary to score century in Australian bouncy fast track at least appreciate that also brothers
Many compared the West Indian team of the 1970s with Steve Waughs team of Invincibles of the late 90s. I believe Australia had the edge solely because of Shane Warne. The greatest leggie of all time!
West Indian team of 1980's was the best because their bowling and batting were the best. West Indian batsmen would have pulped Warne! Tendulkar had done it .
