I am from India and the Last song "Jo tu na mila mujhe" is one of my favourite song. Pakistan has some good voices and they need to come to the frontline like this. "Wo Humsafar tha" is actually not a love/separation song of 2 people. It was written by "Naseer Turabi" on the partition of East-Pakistan (Bangladesh) in (1971) His agony pain reflects writing and this Ghazal is the representation of that.

Urdu(Pakistan National Language) is it self very poetic language so in some way it also really helps Pakistani music... And even many Bollywood songs too

What you guys checked online was "khol". However the word mentioned in the translation of Woh Humsafar tha was "Kohl". Kohl is sort of like an eyeliner that is used to line both upper and lower waterlines of the eyes. It's a traditional eye makeup.

Parizaad is the best series to watch. Much less dramatic, more grounded, excellent OST, perfect story, and mind-blowing performances.

I think you guys might have reacted to "Tera wo Payaar" (Coke Studio) by Momina and Asim. This was originally sung, written and composed by Shuja Haidar. You can react to that as well but he's truly an underated artist. Btw your guess on the plot of "Alif" was spot on. The last ost udari is a drama about child abuse and sexual assault on minors and the show is great and very important and depressing

"Wo humsafar tha" carries importance because of the context these lines were written in, as an Ode to Bangladesh, which became independent in 1971, it was East Pakistan before that. It is a lament at the misfortune and acceptance that the fault didn't lie at the other end, and that they were not the ones that deviated from the pact that was meant to hold all together. "Ghazal bhi wo jo kisi ko kabhi sunaayi na thi"... It is not about the Mahira n Fawad's Drama serial, though that helped in popularizing it.

Hi guys, The reason you see alternative rock influence in Pakistani music is because of a band that revolutionized Pakistani and Indian music. Their name was "Junoon". It was initially a rock band with western influences but then they introduced Tabla, Dholak and other Eastern instruments. They created a new Genre called "Sufi (Spiritual) Rock". They released albums after albums and became the gold standard in South Asia traveling from Pakistan into India and Bangladesh. Thats what started new alternative bands like Atif's Jal and similar alternative rock bands in entire South Asia. JUNOON is the missing piece to your puzzle of South Asian music. You must listen and review "Sayonee" , "Saeen", "Mera Maahi", "Maati", "Ghoom Tana" etc by Junoon. They were the biggest band of Asia for 20 years and performed at UN. They were called U2 of Asia. Please do a review of them and you will understand the entire picture. There old songs were "Heeray" where you can see how pure western rock they were in initial stages and how they transitioned into mixing Western and Eastern music together. Hope it helps. I think Pakistani musicians have got the heck of fusing alternative rock and folk loric music. They have been indulging in it for a long long time. Starting from the Band culture in the 80s till the 2000s. All the big guns in this regard are from that age whether it's strings, jal, vital signs, junoon. All these bands were inspired by Western rock and pop sounds. For example, Strings(Producers of Coke Studio S6-10) were popularly known as U2 of South Asia. So, when you do something for so long and then have a platform like coke studio that provides the all these bands and musicians to come together, it gets more and more perfect. Pakistani musicians have perfected the craft of fusion. All the musicians of my age have it mastered almost.

"Ertugrul ghazi" is mainly a turkish series named 'Dirilis Ertugrul' (English- Resurrection Ertugrul). But Pakistan is made it famous by dubbing it in urdu. Even in my country Bangladesh has also a huge fanbase of this series. Its also dubbed on Bangla language. The one of bestttt series i have ever watched in my life. Thanks for reacting on this. As in that region a good weather is when its cloudy, nobody wants to go out in Sun, people celebrate rain so much that beaches get crowded in rainy and cloudy days.

Ertuğrul Gazi is a Turkish series inspired by historical events, not a Pakistani series. One of the music you listen to is a Pakistani version and the other is an Arabic version, both are not original. Please also listen to the original version. Generally the music of the series is played with Kopuz, one of the oldest musical instruments of the Turks.

He talks about how there was anger, indifference and sometimes animosity, which talks about the political differences of the two cultural groups. Ignorance and political tug of war. But there was never unfaithfulness, like in a family where, no matter how many differences there might be, anger or difference of opinion but you will never betray your brother.

Love the way you pronounce the urdu words . 80% are correct . I feel that latin and urdu speaking people dont have difficulty pronouncing specific words unlike European and American natives who just butcher the urdu word 😄😄 but still i live their reactions too. Waiting for part 2 :D As for the drama 'Alif' (ا) (which is a letter in Arabic, Urdu etc. 'Allah' begins with an Alif, but also the word Insaan (which means human), so as the name suggests, this drama is about trying to find the middle ground of separating between God and materialism/ our desires etc, by finding ourselves). The main lead's dad was a Sufi dancer before he had met his mom. Sufis are God devoted folk. However the dad put his love for her above his love for God, which he later regretted and left his family for (as far as I remember). The son grew up away from religion, without a connection to God (and calligraphy: medium to connect to God) due to his childhood being messed up due to his dad leaving. The wise old man is his grandfather who took care of him and brought him up. It's a great drama about finding one's self, spirituality and social problems. As for Udaari, there are actually multiple men/ male leads in it. The rich dude is from the city, looking to find singers from villages with a certain singing technique. The young guy in the village was the village singer girl's first love interest. And as for the guy with the hazel eyes and creepy vibe... He's a terrible person. Main antagonist. Left me so traumatized. Udaari is honestly a great drama where social problems, inequalities, stigmas and child abuse issues are highlighted. The song is in Punjabi, and the general message is "taking flight" (Udaari in Punjabi). Many issues, of many people are highlighted. And all characters "take a flight" and get off of the ground, after getting crushed down by society and their circumstances. As for drama recommendations: You guys should watch Zindagi Gulzar hai as your first drama! Or even Humsafar or Alif. Udaari would be great too, but maybe since I literally get too emotional to watch it again, give it a watch when you guys are emotionally ready. All are great ones, for a look into Pakistani culture and society, and societal issues :))

"Tu Mera Nahi" I have also listened it first time today and it so good. It really touches my heart, the vocals n the music both is brilliant. I think it is the best song I have listened from nescafe basement

I'd recommend Zindagi Gulzar Hai as a first introductory drama to PK. And it's music is beautiful. My personal fav PK drama so far. Nothing has beaten it

Efra almost picked up dramatic situations and lyrics really well while Waleska has an amazing skill to sense musical delicacies. However you've missed gems in this regard. The language is Urdu so it is called Surma, but in the subcontinent, it is also called Kajal/Kajol. It is widely used in the Middle East, the Caucasus and North Africa, South Asia, West Africa, and the Horn of Africa as eyeliner to contour and/or darken the eyelids and as mascara for the eyelashes.

Xulfi was the part of eP who later produced coke studio s14 n so marvellous. Nescafe basement is also produced by Xulfi. So you should check eP band which was on full rage in early 2000s. React n listen to Entity Paradigm (eP)'s songs like "waqt", "humesha", "aa humay azma" and "fitrat".

The fact that "Woh humsafar tha" was actually been written for Bangladesh which was previously part of Pakistan as East Pakistan, but seceded from it in 1971, in anguish and pain Nasir Turabi wrote it as if another part that was supposed to be our companion has left us.

Actually Humsafar ost lyrics "who i parted ways with had everything but unfaithfulness" is something shown through serial storyline where people willingly created misunderstandings to separate the couple, both spent 10 years in separation with animosity towards one another due to misunderstandings but actually never moved on with somebody else, so they were still loyal even thinking that other person is wrong. They loved each other unconditionally. Their love brought them together after 10 years when truth comes out about selfish people against the marriage and their daughter reunites them.

Qurat has a very unique voice indeed. You should listen to more of her songs.

Out Pakistani artists are superbly talented. Dont forget. The provinces Punjab, gurjrat west Hydrabad.. Bangladesh... these were all one Land. Punjabi Urdu and Hindi and many other dialects are similar.. just different in script. Hence series music realised anywhere becomes like a common hit in each country. Woh Humsafar tha is amazing and one of my own. And i swear if you watch the drama khaani, that ost will make you cry. I cried a lot until i found it hard to breathe. That drama was really sad and Rahat Fateh Ali's voice added more to it making it impossible for me to not cry.

Vo humasafar tha is originally a ghazal (a form of rhyming and rhythmic poetry) written by Naseer Turabi (an Urdu poet) when East Pakistan (now called Bangladesh) separated from West Pakistan (now called Pakistan) in 1971. Ghazals are a beautiful genre of poetry often composed into a song due to the rhythmicallity of the form.

the part at 27:58 is kinda true!!! In classical singing your teachers will tell you to practice singing alaap/sargam with 'ha', to ensure the breathy full chest voice, and once you've practiced it you can sing the sargams with 'aa'
