Dear Iman and Moazzam, the tower kind of structure of the Temple is called Gopuram. This Meenaxi Temple has totally 9 Gopurams. It is one the most wonderful Temples one could visit in India. The Temple is of Goddess Meenaxi Ammal.

In North India temples have a top, called shikhar with kalash, trishul or kamal like formation and appear like a triangle. The temples of south look like a pyramid and may have many stories that get narrower upside.

some information is not true, It was not demolished by any Muslims empires. The construction of the temple was actually stopped due to the collapse of the empire. The King of Madurai was defeated and he reverted to Islam. and another thing is all the people are allowed but in the karuvara only hindus allowed.
