Two months ago we realized with my two best friends to go on a trek in the Alps, the objective was to sleep in high altitude. One evening our camp installed next to a lake at 2800m of altitude we were listening to this sound sitting on a rock above the clouds watching the sunset. It was a moment out of time, probably the most beautiful moment of my life. Yesterday, I received a call from the uncle of one of my two friends, telling me that he had decided to end his life. We knew he was in trouble and had prepared this trek to cheer him up, to show him that life is worth living. I dedicate this music to him and I really hope there is heaven up there. I was 13 when I lost my mom, she was only 32 when she passed away. It was my first time dealing with excruciating grief and pain. After her funeral, my brother and I watched cartoons that night while my dad was cooking us a meal. I think he thought we weren't that much affected by her death since she was mostly absent in our life, but boy was he wrong. Out of nowhere, I stopped watching tv and went to the kitchen and asked him if there was heaven up there; he's answer was the major cause of my depression for over 10 years. Now almost 30, healing bit by bit, I'm still wondering if there's heaven up there. If so, mom, I hope you are happier than you ever were on earth. Edit (April 29, 2023): Wow, I cannot believe the amount of love, support, and the stories I’m reading. It’s been two years now since this post, and not really using RU-vid (and thx to platforms like Spotify, Apple Music etc.) I have been a big fan of Palace since I discovered them. To all who have been sharing their stories to all of us, it’s not easy, but it will be easier with time. Not a single day goes by without thinking of my mom, it’s crazy how we (my brother and I) were barely with her, but the emptiness in our hearts is extremely immense. I’m still working on myself till today, and I have told my therapist that every time I hear of someone passing, my anxiety comes back because I feel the pain of the loss one family has to endure. I think about how they will face the five stages of grief, whether or not they had closure (we didn’t), and if they have their loved ones next to them fir moral support. Let’s just remember it’s the cycle of life, we are born to die. But while we are still alive and living, let’s remember those who once lived and celebrate their life on earth. These past two years, I have developed a new coping mechanism towards losing someone dear to me: I dance, dance, dance to the feeling of loss. Thx so much again for your words and for sharing your stories, we are all interconnected as we live and go through the same life experience. ❤️❤️ Ps: “Your mom was not a good mother, she left you when you were five to suddenly appear in your life at age 11. If there were haven somewhere, people like your mom will just remain dead, they won’t be resurrected.” Saying these words to a 13 year old boy who hoped to meet his mother again, one day, is devastating. Knowing my mom will remain dead if there were haven because of her mistakes in her life on earth was something I did not deal with very well. I’m merely on good terms with my dad because of the things he did to my mom when they were together. She had to leave us to get out of an abusive relationship, and she had no education and was solely relying on my dad’s income. Anyway, It’s been 18 years now, and she remains dead. Guess dad was right.

The night before my open heart surgery I played this song and just cried alone in my hospital bed. For the past year I was going through the process of getting the correct diagnosis and by the time I finally did I was told I had maybe 2-3 years left. I was initially labeled as inoperable back in July '20 until I finally got a call from San Diego around Christmas that they wanted to perform the operation and that I should fly out there at the beginning of March. Idk, it's hard to explain the entire journey I went through mentally/emotionally, but this song brings me to tears every time I listen to it.

Last year around this date I was going through so much depression and bunch of personal stuff. A friend of mine told me about this song and how it always made her cry, and it click on me, since this song has a very special place on me, and I'm glad that now 10/30/23 I'm on a way better mental and physical place. My grandmother was 13 when she was forced into an arranged marriage with a much, much older man. She was then forced to have kids with him (one of them being my father). Then, after her husband passed away, she found a way to bring her and her children to America and give them a better life. She worked hard to readjust to American culture and learn English and raise her children. She was an extremely strong woman, filled with grit and the most palpable resilience. She passed away almost two years ago, and the world lost a little bit of its color for me. But every time I hear this song, I hear her story. I remember all that she went through, all that she sacrified so that I could be here. I hope that it's Heaven up there for her. Thank you Palace.

My dad was someone who has suffered a lot in life and due to horrible cases and outside our family, he could not be with me throughout my childhood and adolescence, I could only enjoy him for 1 year until he had problems again. In spite of everything, he was the most wonderful and courageous person I could meet, he crossed hell with only one goal: He wanted to see my children grow since he could not do it with me. He suffered a lot from cirrhosis and, despite fighting with all the desire to live, he could not survive the covid-19 and died in my arms. This is one of the most beautiful songs I think I've ever heard.

Discovered this song buried in my library. It randomly played one day, on my drive home, as it was one of my last days at what would be my old career and church. It hit a deep deep place in my soul. I had been questioning my whole life and even my own beliefs and the lyrics to this song hit me like a pile of bricks and I broke down crying. Not a subtle cry but a heavy weep. I wept as if someone had just died. I realized my idea of what church, god, religion, the meaning of my life, was broken. It was as if the illusion of everything I knew was shattered. It was one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do. I left the job I had thought was my dream job, the community I had been a part of since I was 16 (now 25), my beliefs, my core values. It hasn't been easy but I know it was the right thing to do. I had a mental breakdown I guess you can call it that following a week or two post leaving. I went to the ER and had a full blown panic attack. Since then things have been difficult. Things are looking up and this song still feels heavy but I feel like in time it will be a happy cry and not a mournful one. I know it's heaven up there.

I'm in my 50s and it never ceases to amaze me how many brilliant bands and songs I have still yet to hear. Stumbled across this due to one of my kids listening to them and when a song gives you goosebumps .... amazing.

My younger brother died nearly a year ago and a few days after he died I found this song and this band. I love this song so much I had to learn to play it myself. I now sit and play this song on one of my brothers guitars that he left for me, whenever I am sad or down and I miss him I go to this song for comfort. Discovered this song the day I went to get a tattoo in honor of my late grandmother. Thirty minutes after my tattoo session I had this band blasting through my car stereo listening to the song "Live Well" because it was playing during my tattoo session and the artist was saying how it was her favorite band. I mentioned I loved how the son made me want to dance in an open field so she gave me the title. I was excited, now I could jam to the song on my way home . My session was beautiful because the artist and I bonded about how everyone should just be and do whatever. Other people's happiness shouldn't be dictated and we should just be happy. We talked about how everything is meant to be and everything happens for a reason. Then there I was windows down, sun setting, and riding with the high of my new tattoo. And this song comes on. I've been having a rough year two losses of the few most influential people in my life. A toxic relationship. And the demise of my parents thirty-two-year marriage. Every time I listen to this song I'm on the verge of tears, it brings repressed pain and trauma to the surface from watching my mother die from cancer when I was 17. It's also full of solace and beauty and sends me into a meditative state thinking about where my mother is now, is she looking down on me and what it would be like if she was still around. I'm middle-aged now but I still think about her all the time and when I'm on my death bed I'll still be thinking about her. This song is the sound of that profound grief and longing.

My dad was my best friend he was my world, but he was a addict… an addict who loved drugs but also loved people and leading them to the Lord. The world looked at him to be a tweaker but he was a warrior on and off he would be with drugs fighting for his family to stay clean and he did! He got two beautiful dogs a beautiful house a beautiful motorcycle a quad etc etc everything he wanted in the world he had! I miss you dad.. he never got to teach me how to ride a motorcycle… but my uncle Ben who was my brothers dad had the chance to teach me and the smile on his face I will never forget… he could ride all day if he wanted too! Sadly a month after my dad passed away, my uncle Ben got in a motorcycle accident and passed away. Life is so short… but it’s beautiful if you make it out to be.
