We'll be in Italy this October/November. I think you've just convinced us to spend part of our time in Palermo. You've really done a great job showing us the vibe of the place, and I was especially impressed by the absolute beauty of some of the churches. Over the top in Italy is fabulous! Thank you!
You should have visited Monreale, 30 minutes from downtown, absolutely amazing. Panino ca meuza = spleen sandwich is what you have tried, but I hope you had also Gelato, pasta alla Norma, Octopus, etc, etc... Plenty of goodies.
We really wanted to get to Monreale and we were disappointed that it didn't work out with our timing. OMG, the food everywhere was fantastic! We loved our stay in Palermo. Thank you so much for watching our video, we really appreciate it. Cheers, Chris and Jim 🫶
Thank you for your wonderful video! When you were at the airport.. I guess you drop off the rental car to be free in Palermo . But your luggages were with you in the share taxi? Im confuse sorry 😉
Yes, correct. We dropped off our car rental at the airport location. We often find it easier than trying to navigate through the bigger cities. Then we stay without a car for our time. Saves us money and the stress of parking and driving. We are much better with a car in the smaller cities..lol.. This was also our last stop before we flew to our next exciting destination. Thanks for watching, cheers Chris and Jim😀
We were in Sicily last November. We were in Catania and I didn't really want to go to Palermo. But, we are so glad that we did. We absolutely fell in love with Palermo. We are going back this fall. What was the name of the place you stayed in?
We did as well! I will try to find the name for you. I thought we had it in the description but see that we do not. Thanks so much for your nice comments and for watching. I will get back to you when I find the name. I know I booked it on booking.com Cheers Chris and Jim🥂
I love your videos!!! They are great! I was able to visit most of these towns. We are going to Cefalu in October and want to take some day trips via train from Cefalu. Besides, the obvious (Palermo), can you suggest any other places to visit for the day?
Thank-you so much! We are so happy to hear that you are enjoying them! Hmm... there are so many. If you have a car it will be much easier. The Mondello beach area was beautiful. We also enjoyed San vito lo capo but a 2.5 hour drive, and Taormina is also about the same distance. It really depends on how far you want to travel. We didn't venture around Cefalu within a 30 min distance much, but I am sure there are loads more to see. Hope you have and amazing time! We loved it! Cheers Chris and JIm😀
Thank-you so much for your kind words! Have a wonderful trip. Yes! Just do it! We are having fun with it so far. The hardest part is just having the courage to do it. 😀 Cheers Chris and Jim
Both beautiful cities, and a lot to see. Make sure you do check out Taormina, Agrigento, Cefalu, Syracuse and Ortigia. These other cities are also worth spending time in. We loved Sicily and hope you have a wonderful time! Thank-you so much for watching, cheers Chris and Jim😀
New subscriber. Finally going to Sicily for 12 days in October... we have never even been out of the states, so your video is especially helpful! Can't wait!
Welcome aboard! Thats amazing, we are excited for you. We have many other videos on Sicily take a look if you haven't already. We hope you have as good a time as we had and if you have any questions just send us a message. Thanks again for your support, Cheers Chris and Jim
You can also get the train from the airport, costing just less than 7 euros. Some trains only take 34 minutes toget to the centre. The station is under the arrivals area.
Hi, love your video. I’m flying into Palermo tomorrow. Will now go for the shared taxi from the airport after seeing your experience. Quick question: did you use it on the way back to the airport and was it reliable, turn up on time? Thank you 😊
Thank you 🙏 that’s great, yes we got his phone number and was able to message for a a return up tine. It was great for us. Have a wonderful trip! Cheers Chris and Jim
May I ask if you arrived at the palerme airport or the Catania airport? I am interested in taking the bus from the airport to Palermo like what you did. Thank you !
We arrived in Catania, but dropped off our rental car at the Palermo airport and used the shuttle. It was just parked outside the arrival doors with a sign. We also got his number and used it to go back when we flew back. It was perfect especially since we were overcharged in Catania by the taxi driver. Hope this helps, cheers Chris and Jim
@@midlifetravelbug thank you! It appears that the weather in San Vito Capo in November was windy when you were there and it was not suitable for beach activities. We plan to go to San Vito in November but not sure it is a good time for swimming activities. How was the weather over there during your time ?
@@midlifetravelbug , we would have to win the lottery to not only bring our kids along, but our two grandkids as well lol Do you also cruise ? That is our second most vacation option after going to Europe. You must try going to Crete one day, you’ll love it.
Whatever bad thing you happen to read about Palermo will not be worse than what you will find in any Italian city, whatever beautiful thing you read about Palermo will be a fragment of unique beauty that you will only find in a few other European cities. Great video, congratulations and thanks. ❤👍
We were advised of some negative things but as we anticipated Palermo proved those negative wrong 🫶 thank you very much for watching, 🥂Cheers Chris and Jim!
love you videos we will be staying in Palermo in October for 1week could you tell me where to find a quaint apt for that time or a reasonable place to stay thanks in advance
We are excited for your upcoming trip! We would suggest staying close to the four corners closest to the action or close to the marina area. I think the marina are may have more balcony options. Hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching 🙏Cheers Chris and Jim 🥂
Honestly that’s tough to say. We booked through booking.com. We wanted an apartment. We were a block away from the 4 corners in old town and loved our location. We could walk everywhere. So if you can find something close to there or the theatre house with a few block you should be good. Location for one night would be ideal. Hopefully you have a wonderful time! Cheers Chris and Jim 🥂
Actually, we were shocked how much we liked Palermo. We did not hear good things prior to going there from other RU-vid vlogs and, after being in Palermo, we felt a different experience from the negativity. Three days definitely does not make us an expert, but we tried to fit in as much as possible. Thank you for watching the video.
Why does an "influencer" feel the need to upload filmed churches?!? Who the eff cares??? Just film some impressions and give a statement if the place is worth a visit or not...
Hey @michaelkaniecki1998...sorry you hated the video and we ruined your day :( Have you been to Palermo? There are 100's of ancient churches and they are pretty spectacular and there are a lot of people that have never seen anything like it, including us. It's such a cool place to visit and the people were awesome. I'll take the "influencer" comment though, our kids will get a kick out of that.😂 Cheers 🍻 Jim & Chris.
We rented a car when we left Catania and dropped it out at the Palermo airport! Honestly it was the absolute best way to see Sicily! Thanks 🙏 for watching.
