I never cease to be impressed by Hana Ashrawi's eloquence; how she can articulate so rationally the utter sense of injustice, & more, suffered by her people in the face of the West's hypocrisy on so many levels. I also realise that the best leader the Palestinians could have is unjustly imprisoned in an Israeli jail. Abbas needs to go and a new generation allowed to take over. Great Interview Owen. The first time I've heard Dr Ashrawi speak without hostile interruption. She summarized the western colonial mindset beautifully. The Palestinian people are truly a special nation. Lets hope this female Nelson Mandela see peace in her lifetime.

This Lady should be the Palestinian president, Hanan Ashrawi has been active in the Palestinian government for a long time now, and she is well informed on international law and is well spoken, she must have a leading role in the Palestinian Government .
It's so strange that those who used to go on and on about human rights went completely silent, the US, the UK, the EU, they used to use 'the rule of law' as a stick to beat other nations over the head with, in fact they still try to, but nobody is listening to those hypocrites anymore. The Israelis have done everything they can to divide Gazans from the Palestinians in West Bank. It is well documented that Netanyahu sent billions of dollars in suitcases to Hamas over the past 15 years. He did this so that the Gazans would not unite with their brothers and sisters in the West Bank.

The wheels of justice turn cripplingly slow and shamefully it's been too slow for 22,000 Palestinians in Gaza, but the world is waking up to Israel's behaviour and its decades of brutal oppression and tyranny. In the age of the internet, instant messaging and independent media, now there is nowhere to hide for Israel, no longer will their war crimes go unnoticed or pass quietly under the radar, accountability is finally on the horizon.
In 1999 I knew of Hanan for the first time when I started to study this story...she wrote a book called Freedom.. so wonderful to se her still talking still strong...❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥

As a Sydneysider, I am proud to say she was awarded the Sydney Peace Prize in 2003 in recognition of her "commitment to human rights, to the peace process in the Middle East and for her courage in speaking against oppression, against corruption and for justice". I love Hanan. I remember having lunch with her at my house when I was 10-11. We had sardines, fries and salad. She had been working with my dad at the ministry of tourism and the television. Thank you Owen for the terrific work, as usual.
