If you wanna speak particularly about Islam and it's teachings about believing and worshipping God, Islam says that there is no force or compulsion in religion , and it teaches one to ask, question, look, research everything they doubt or are confused about or dont believe, and in the end it's up to the person. But if you wanna look at other religions I advice you to search what the Talmud and Torah believes and says about atheists ( you'll be amazed with the explicit words used). As, a believer in God myself, I believe God is not in need for US to believe in him, in the end we are his creation, and he is our creator. So us believing in him isn't for his sake , it is for our sake. Why?? Yes, to be rewarded with eternity in heaven, and we cant be in heaven if we dont believe in God to begin with. Even if you speak little English (or whatever language) you can still try to express yourself and be understood by locals even if you speak incorrectly. I don't think religion is an opinion really, more a way of life. People argue it like it's opinion but it's something so embedded in the individual that it feels as though it was always there. Becoming an atheist to me was an easy enough thing to do, because I probably decided it when I was around 9, but unless you're exposed to different ways of thinking early enough in your childhood, it's virtually impossible to totally erase that part of your personal philosophy. You can't blame these people then if they never, until it was too late, had anything else.

Confidence to the extreme is actually a good risk to take in a survival scenario. If what you want to do is perpetuate your genes, it makes sense to act in a way that will cause many people around you to follow your lead. This will increase your status, and thus increase the quality of mate you can attract. This goes for men and women.. although admittedly more for men. For women it is much more important to be young and fertile looking, biologically speaking. However, I am sure we are all familiar with the 'Queen Bee' types who also do this. And this is all assuming your purpose is to procreate with the best genes you can get. If you have some other primary goal, it doesn't make as much sense.

That's something that some atheists believe and some don't, it's not particular to atheism.Of course, most Christians also believe in evolution although I don't know the percentages on exactly how many believe humans share a common ancestor. I think in the western nations at least, even those in the Military proclaiming to be atheists are followers of their own nation in an almost religious and fanatical way. They are not just people with strong religious beliefs, they are people with theocratic political tendencies who think that society should be legislated as ordered by their magic book. A secular and democratic society allows religious freedom, a religious society does not allow freedom.

Atheism is also a belief, because go back to the beginning, and atheists have to believe that matter has existed eternally, without any logial or scientific explanation as to how matter became to ''be'' out of absolute nothingness. So, one side believes in a great Creator, the other side believes in ever and forever existing matter. What is the scientific side in that?

If you throw a stone you are sure it will fall back very predictably, which is the complete opposite of a miracle that transcends reality. The level of scientific knowledge does not matter. Atheism is therefore not a belief since it is governed by reproducibles certainties that you can constantly verify.

as an atheist i disagree. atheism is a relegion like all the other relegions. it just has fewer scripture and rules ;) let me elaborate: you cant prove a negative. you cant prove there is no god, just like you cant prove that there is a god. not believing is still that: believe. obviously its the more rational believe, because why would you believe in something for which no evidence exists. but this does not change the fact that its still a matter of believe, not fact.

It is wrong to think that we can send back faith and atheism back to back, it is impossible to prove that UFOs, ghosts or goblins do not exist. But on the other hand it is always possible to prove that something which has a reality exists, such as objects, laws of nature or physics .... So if you cannot establish the reality of the existence of God, there is a certainty of its non-existence until the contrary is demonstrated. Atheism is therefore not a belief, it is a fact!
