I've been doing a few palette swatch-offs lately and it's a lot of work! Thanks for the thorough comparisons. It's helpful to see undertones. Part of me wants to pull apart every palette and keep the best of the best. Don't think I could do it as my inner completionistic hoarder would not allow. You are quite right about the not-so-unique colors among palettes.
I have already done it with quite a few and if it means keeping shades I love, but not having to keep bulky packaging, then I prefer that by now. I have enough palettes as it is.
Great comparisons Maaike. The Nabla palette works great for me on my neutral-warm olive undertone. The good thing is that there is something out there for everyone, the problem is to find it
Which is why I am starting this video series (and the battle one, but there it's mainly not about just the colors in the palette) as I hope it can be helpful for people to see comparisons between palettes and make better choices. We all have enough makeup as it is.
@@FloatinginDreams so true, but I still want that Dreamy palette from Natasha Denona and as we need to travel to Luxemburg for work the last week of September and there happens to be a Sephora within 5 minutes walking distance...
Good idea for a video! I like your eye makeup today Maaike. (I bought the Meesha Lou palette on your recommendation, and I'm happy with it! I always enjoy your reviews - they're very thoughtful).
These also remind me of the Juvia's Place Coral palette. Maybe that one is a little more 'extreme' with regards the cool/warm colour story, so the peaches are *more peach and the greys are *more grey, plus there are less neutral neutrals, if you get me. But they have the same vibes.
Would love to see a review of the new Catrice x Maximogiacomo palette. I think it will be too warm for you, but still curious about the quality. It said on Instagram that it is available in Germany!
Thanks for the suggestion. I saw it listed on the Catrice Instagram yesterday but none of the products appeal to me. I'll await the new Essence & Catrice Disney collab that should be out in October/ November.
Great idea. I was already planning on featuring some of these in this series indeed. The Sigma isn't anything like those palette though. It has many more darker/ grungier shades and none of the sage greens. But I will also be featuring that in an upcoming series.
I bought the Meesha Lou Witchcraft, and had to cancel, the customer service is atrocious and unfortunately I will never buy from that company again. I really wanted to buy and support, but just horrible customer service. Thanks for the comparison. I have the Nabla Side by Side, I have light skin and a yellow skintone.
Hi Maaike an interesting comparison and unfortunately there is a lot of similarity between many palettes. I don't own any of these, but warm browns are not for me. As a sidenote the new ND is very similar to the ABH modern renaissance when swatched and it's very different to the promo pictures prior to release. It's really really warm with a lot of red and just a couple of purples (plus it has a bright yellow gold), so it's not going to be something I'm going to want. I don't own the ABH palette because I knew that colour story would not look good on me - all those warm red shades will make me look ill lol. Such a disappointment for me as I had liked the look of the palette in the promo picture. Best wishes.
Natural nudes goes deeper and has 18 shades. Zoeva is only 10 shades and leans more neutral, the Two Faced is a bit more warm leaning and has some mauves / pinks.
I just love so much palettes that have a matte and a shimmer together for the layout and the packaging of the too faced one it’s so cute but I don’t know if it’s worth the splurge you know :(
I don't own the Too Faced one, so I can't do the comparison like I do here. I did see it in store though and it reminded me more of Huda Beauty Nude Rich/ Chocolate Browns more so than anything else. I was slightly tempted by it, but I think it is just too similar to things I already own. The Zoeva is also far less expensive and costs approx. half of what the Too Faced one goes for if that's something you're concerned with.
