If hunter are allowed to hunt you can keep the deer and sheep in check rather than DLNR just doing a mass slaughter and leaving the carcass to rot. He anger is justified, the “state” just keeps passing laws that prevent people for being people, cant build this, can’t do this, cant hunt this, etc etc

He makes some good points. Using hunters to help figure out actual game numbers every season in each area of each islands would help in overall game management and conservation of natural resources and balance between species.

Biff Phuddle if that could work remains to be seen. Funny thing though that the districts must include voices from each ahupuaʻa in the district, Im not sure all are being hunted with subdivisions (he he). Go back to pre mahele times that never would work, but maybe today, everything upside down. I think if Palikapu was here in old days he might not have been happy with some of the kapu laws but we got to get something better than whats not working today! Council atitude that they just advisory pretty much says they no get it.

@@hualani6785 I live in NY but hope to migrate to Hawaii Big Island when I retire. NY is a mess, but one good thing we have is that the hunters, game control officers, and the DEC (state dept of conservation) work together to maintain good game populations, and all the taxes collected from hunters and fishers for sales tax on equipment and license fees goes toward this effort. But on the other hand, the city types do not understand hunting as a natural part of game management and are anti gun and anti hunting, so we have a shrinking hunter population versus deer for example. I have killed 2 deer in my town with my truck their are so many ! Many govt officials do not understand that game rules and fishing rules have to constantly evolve to properly control game populations so they do not overforage their habitat and become weak and sickly. The vegans think they are being kind but in fact humans are the apex predators and we have a role to play in nature and that role is to hunt and fish humanely and in balance with nature. Hunters, fishers and gatherers of Hawaii ! keep up the good fight ! It is both natural and good to play your role as nature intended !

The folks sitting behind the desks are NOT hunters, they'd just as soon as see it all go away, less humbug for them to deal with.Good words Palikapu.

He's right, Molokai no fit and I from Molokai and agree with this guy. The environment is all different, even in the ocean is different. So I take no offense to what he says because he speaks the truth.

Palikapu Dedman, was bringing them science. I am vegan. However I support the Kānaka Mā'oli right to hunt. The 'aina determines the diet of the people dwelling there. Kānaka Mā'oli has been hunting for thousands of years. Their hunting is scientific, which prevents an overpopulation of wild pogs and boars, it not greed-driven as are non-Hawaiian hunters.

“Your preaching to the choir.” That’s a passive answer! Step up your game! If your gonna answer that way. You just wasted this Elders time and most importantly his oxygen. Get it together and get tough!

I’m referring to the advisory board and their comment on giving native folks a pat on their backs. Also preaching to the choir. The natives are the ones doing all the foot work. While everyone else sits in their little isolated cubical. Do work and get involved! Like the Elder says.

Lawmakers were given authority by the "people" to legislate codes, rules, regulations, and statutes which are policies, procedures, and "law" to control the behavior of bureaucrats, elected and appointed officials, municipalities and agencies but were never given authority to control the behavior of the people as we read in the US Supreme court decision. So I agree with Palikapu or any other advocators or testifiers for going to the council and addressing those issues I have to applaud them for their time, service to the community, their courage, dedication, sacrifices and everybodies support..

it all started by using the Palila as an excuse to curtail the beautiful hunting environment that was the Big Island in the 70-90's

I’m Hawaiian n from Big Island n believe in self sustainability.. I hunt every animal for meat especially pigs.. my family comes from gatherers Mtn to ocean.. I knew how to clean a pig before I even started hunting on my own at age 13.. my papa made sure of it n taught me to respect animals n land as with my whole family.. some only fish,some hunt, or both..watever it takes to feed our families.. but is a sport too.. which is abused by irresponsible hunters..that’s why they keep taking lands also.. If some how everyone would be doing their part in conserving it would help a lot.. before u could hunt anywhere as long as u respect landowners property.. but some like to steal n disrespect or don’t get permission..so a lot of places u can’t anymore.. get together with hunters to help with protecting native species.. we spend the most time out in nature.. wat is invasive species..?? The White man durrr.. jus because king kamehameha thought of future generations to come n that’s why he traded for cattle sheep goats etc.. more meat n different kinds of meat not jus pork..he didn’t want his ppl to starve either..he had these visions.. im against eradication..
@porkworm808
@porkworm808 4 года назад
To me the invasive species are the humans that brought plants n insects that kill everything nowadays..no rose apples anymore.. now ohia is dying n even the waiwi..ohia is firewood which is a natural resource n waiwi is a fruit that we eat n pigs love to eat.. to me all they want is control over the ppl in every way they can.. TMT will be the worst because the Mauna has soo much water that they want to poison.. all our resources will be affected n they don’t care,fuckin assholes

Hualani I'm born and raised in Hilo. I'll tell him and you right to y'all face. You obviously are fooled by all the "big island news" video propaganda. If you are interested in learning the truth I'll be willing to help, but if you are a military/state actor then fuck you your comment and you should probably go back to where you came from or stay on your military base.

Ok uncle maybe a class or two in public speaking and a touch of etiquette on the side you’d probably get your message across more effectively. As to Tutu Pele well she covered the houses and left PGV right. I wish I could hunt and fish but between work and kids and more work and bullet holes in my papaya trees and rotting dead animals left in my farm I can go on and on.
