Old school, simple, light, boxwood handle, carbon steel, thin blade stock and convexed blade kitchen knife from Spain and I love it.

Every grandma in Catalonia has one of these in her kitchen and of course mine did too. Soft steel so you'll break the tip (like the one in the video) as soon as you drop it on the floor. But they're excellent knives, very affordable, sharp and very easy to sharpen. You don't even need a knife sharpener/stone, a honing steel is more than enough to keep it sharp, that's what I use. And some trivia. Of the 24 knife manufacturers in Solsona this is the only one left, making knives since 1917. This is their cheapest knife but still hand-finished. It's most famous knife is la Pallaresa, a pocket knife but they're also well known for professional knives for the meat industry and traditional farming tools.

I visited Solsona and stumbled across these knives. Amazing value and quality, just wish they were more readily available.

LOVE that blade shape. Looks like something a cave man would have had, carved out of stone, or obsidian. Neutral handle, so good. Looks like an excellent score. I wish I had better cooking skills, to appreciate knives like this myself :p

I love plain old fashioned 1084 and 1095 blade steels when properly heat treated. I'd love to get one of these.

I've been using them all my life. Carbon steel so it holds the edge pretty well and is extremely easy to sharpen even with a honing steel.

It's thin, light and hard - and really cheap. Win win situation.
