Pallavi Mahidhara | Claude Debussy: Suite bergamasque 

I’ve heard dozens of recordings of these pieces - this suite - over the years, and I’ve played the last two movements myself for many years. I saw this RU-vid video, but had never heard of the performer, Pallavi Mahidhara. I decided to listen, to give her a chance. I was amazed. This is one of the best performances I’ve ever heard. She has it all. Grace, timing, technique, unique expressivity, and accuracy! What a wonderful pianist! What a wonderful performance!

Her first notes of Claire de lune almost brought me to tears.

Suite Bergamasque doesn’t get better than this. There’re many flawless performances out there but she’s beyond flawless. Her music literally speaks to you like it’s alive.

Saw this last night just before going to bed, and woke up with the Menuet in my head, thanks to this excellent performance! All four movements of the suite are really unique and wonderful. Claude, you my DAWG!

Debussy's music is so sensuous, mysterious, ancient, modern, peaceful, ritualistic, and gorgeous .... Pallavi Mahidhara, love your performance ... beautiful poetry !!

So many recordings on RU-vid are just that: recordings. This on the other hand is a *performance*, and it is by far my favorite. Absolutely ethereal and beautiful.

1. Prélude 2. Menuet (4:35) 3. Clair de lune (9:25) 4. Passepied (14:30) This is an awesome performance. "Clair de lune" felt a little rushed to me- but everyone seems to have their own preference :-)

Too much drama for me to watch so I just listened. Thank you.

I love to hear this suite by her beatiful hands. Debussy is one of favorite composer and playing by her is an ectasy. I would love to hear more from her

Diese Aufnahme ist ein echter Juwel, wunderbar gefühlvoll gespielt und einfach wunderschön. So kann sich das Debussy nur vorgestellt haben, für mich ist diese Live-Aufnahme einfach perfekt und zwar in allen Sätzen von vorne bis hinten.

I love the Suite Bergamasque and have heard countless recordings of it. This might be the greatest performance that I've heard. All musicians at this level possess technical virtuosity; taste and intelligent interpretation are the distinguishing factors. This is such a flawless, thoughtful performance.

Interesting, at 8:30 she intentionally (I presume) plays G natural instead of G sharp, very interesting effect she achieves there.

The second movement was so good. I felt like I could hear voices coming from the song! Each call and response sounded like a different person talking. So cool. So skillfully done!! Loved the classy bow at the end too. 😉 ❤

Il y a une coquille il me semble, dans la partie finale du Menuet à 8:31 ou elle joue sol naturel au lieu de sol dièse... 🤔 Cela reste une bonne interprétation avec une certaine originalité.
