The Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy Today: a Union of Tradition and Innovation In the spirit of its founding father Lord Menuhin, Christoph Müller set new accents in his first year in 2002 and continued successfully to promote and develop the festival with an open and creative programme philosophy that made trendsetting projects and long-term development in specific artistic spheres possible.
The Gstaad Chamber Music Festival focuses on outstanding artists (Joshua Bell, Sabine Meyer, Alfred Brendel, Andras Schiff, Hélène Grimaud), who invite their musical friends and partners to Gstaad “to make music in a relaxed atmosphere”. (citation from Yehudi Menuhin)
I watch and listen to this wonderful artist. There are no eyes rolling and hands and head flaying about, just beautiful music played by a true ARTIST! I especially enjoy her playing just before bed time. Brava carina!!! Thank you.
Il y a une coquille il me semble, dans la partie finale du Menuet à 8:31 ou elle joue sol naturel au lieu de sol dièse... 🤔 Cela reste une bonne interprétation avec une certaine originalité.
"Half-baked"? Perhaps because he had mental problems Robert Schumann could see further into the future. Clara a great pianist and good composer shared the tyrannical opposition of her father to their marriage. Giorgi was good in his beautiful, short recital yesterday (Radio 3) when he sang beautifully in one item (Kancheli "Mimino/Yellow Leaves"). Here he is, once more, equally brilliant in the virtuoso and the lyrical. Thank you.
I’ve heard dozens of recordings of these pieces - this suite - over the years, and I’ve played the last two movements myself for many years. I saw this RU-vid video, but had never heard of the performer, Pallavi Mahidhara. I decided to listen, to give her a chance. I was amazed. This is one of the best performances I’ve ever heard. She has it all. Grace, timing, technique, unique expressivity, and accuracy! What a wonderful pianist! What a wonderful performance!
Saw this last night just before going to bed, and woke up with the Menuet in my head, thanks to this excellent performance! All four movements of the suite are really unique and wonderful. Claude, you my DAWG!
The second movement was so good. I felt like I could hear voices coming from the song! Each call and response sounded like a different person talking. So cool. So skillfully done!! Loved the classy bow at the end too. 😉 ❤
That was really fascinating to hear Bomsori discussing her programme in such detail. The concert was amazing as expected. Such a beautiful performer. ❤
Mr. Bezuidenhout, you eloquently state your position, but I respectfully disagree. I think historically composers and top performers have welcomed technical improvements in instruments, and I think Mozart would be thrilled with the modern Bechstein grand. The biggest difference between the modern piano and the fortepiano is not cross- vs. linear stringing, but introduction of the metal frame, which allowed much higher string tensions and brought completely new sound texture and volume.
