It’s a sign of true vintage clothes. Back in the 90s and before they used lighter cotton fabrics on the sleeves and hems that only required one line of stitching. Eventually the hem area was made using a heavier cotton so a lot of companies did double stitch on the hem and single on the sleeves and now almost all companies use the heavier material on all t shirts that requires double stitching
