James, my fellow pallet conspirator, you've finally exposed our secret operations to the world! 😂 But you forgot to mention the best part - our elite team of undercover squirrels that scatter sawdust around the "found" pallets to make it all look more authentic. 🐿 Keep up the great work, James! And remember, the first rule of Pallet Club is: You do not talk about Pallet Club. 🤫. And I have no comments.
I have had many of those 😅 The harder ones for me are those whose comments I can't tell if they are in on the joke or truly think I am having a go at three of my maker friends who I often colab with :P
😆 I must hand it to you James... that was brilliant 😆😆. Proper entertainment. Thanks to you and all the other guys for taking the time to put this together, well done you lot 😁👍🇬🇧
Guilty of having worked with pallets for a limited time. Been there. In spirit of generosity, when you sift through, you will find every now and then those rare pallets that has something else than pine. Hard to identify wood with bunch of nail holes that has been thru a few winter can have character to it. I know, we all know, it has been beaten to death : the time, the effort and the ressources to gather and process those pallets into thin barely usable pieces of raw material makes it a challenge to the outliers to turn it into a profitable business. To put it mildly. And if the pallet wood is laminated, sanded and polished to death to the point where it's hard to tell that it was pallet wood at the origin, what did you accomplish? That leads to this point. Let's be honest : 99% of pallet furniture you will see in real life is amateurish, if not flimsy. To make a piece of furniture looks great and yet that you still recognize that it is pallet wood at the base is an even bigger challenge. If it's a hobby and you are honest about it, cheers.
Very true mate, I don't there is a single person I've heard of who makes a full time living turning pallets into profit. Side hustles, sure, but not real full time furniture makers. Their real strength is letting the hobbiest trade money for time, stopping waste going to landfill that makes you feel good on the inside, and the acomplishment of turning some junk into something functional... hopefully. :)
sounds like someone is jealous his pallet wood projects arent as good as the names listed so he talking thrash...ROFL 🤣 but i will admit there are some pallets that ive seen that i swear are hand made JUST for videos...lol
Just when I thought it could not get any better. Well done James!! I was totally cracking up!! Keep these coming! I am always surprised how woodworkers get so angry about certain things. Hand tools vs. power tools, anything festool, pallet projects, river tables (well, I think that is justified anger) the list goes on! Y'all need to get the godfather of pallet projects Jackman Works to do a cameo!! That would be epic!! Keep up the quality and entertaining content James!! Cheers mate!
You know, I know _of_ Jackman but have never seen any of his videos 😅 Not surprising, with only a few exceptions I mostly watch smaller Australian maker channels and those fake Aussies like Jesper who are defacto members of the community. Then some of them like get all popular and stuff and blow up and are no longer little channels :P I will return to my more regular boring informational and woodworky video as of next week, but due to popular demand, _Hard Wood Talk Volume 2_ may have to be a thing at some stage in the future 😉
@@FixitFingers either way, it's all good content. I found your channel through Mark over at Danier Made. I have been checking out some of your other RU-vid offerings. Really like what you are putting out there. Love the team red pocket hole video. Was cracking up when a very pink panther type burglar swiped your kreg jig!!
How dare you make such fake accusations about this fake video Sir! I must say our fake Lawyers will be informed so send a fake cease and desist... along with a fake Christmas card from "Hard Wood Talk". Season's greetings Steve! 😁
You've turned full heel James .... & I love it! Don't stop here, lean further & further & further! Be the undisputed twisted Joker meets Tony Hinchcliffe of YT woodworking. I want to hear tales across the land of you unscrewing glue bottle lids, mixing up different sized screws, slightly pulling off dust extractor bags, leaving air compressors switched on overnight with slow leaking hoses.... 😈
Hahahaha... I've dealt with thousands of pallets, if I could remember 20 worth any woodworking value, I'd be shocked! There's a reason why the wool is used for pallets and not fine furniture, it's the leftover pieces from the mills!
Good use of scrap timber to make them from the mills offcuts. I don't think I've ever met someone claiming to make traditional fine furniture from them, but even the crappy ones can still be upcycled by weekend warriors!
i have been collecting scrap wood in all forms as a labourer. ive got the lot. i have built many planters and sold them all. over 50. ive made picture frames that a stunning from wood you lookat and ''just bin it''. if youve got thre tools and the imagination you can make anythign but i can tell you now. 1 in every 30 palletes are good enough for making top end furniture. the crates that are used when having indian stones delivered at the ones u want. eucalyptus wood. stunning grains
Oh 1:30 would be generous! Most don't need to hold so much weight as to warrant stronger timber. That's a good tip though, if you find a tile or landscape place in the industrial areas your are pallet hunting there may be a better chance of finding not-pine pallets :D
I love when people recognise 80s and 90s inspired old school satire instead of either missing it entirely and having a go at me or worse thinking I'm serious and having a go at my friends featured in the video 🤣
I thank you, this put a great big smile on my face today, I must say Phil looks a little different from the get up I normally see him in at work. Keep up the great content guys, I must say I enjoy everyone you listed in this video and I may convert to pallets after I finish of this batch of sawmill off cuts.
Cheers Mark, glad it brought a smile. We all had great fun working on this and Phil especially did an epic job :D He was paid in Whiskey for his efforts ;)
Exactly Dave! *TOTALLY* different things. Plus, my wife is a patent and trademark lawyer and ensured me the _other_ mob have failed to protect their logo in Australia sooooo... yoink! 😄
Lol I have a friend that owns a pallet company and he would laugh when people would show up and ask for pallets he got tired of the dumb questions so he made a sign of why this idea was stupid.😅
Oh so he makes actual REAL pallets, for you know, moving things on, and folks would ask him for free ones to make furniture? I can imagine the sign out front. That's gold 🤣
That is what is wrong with RU-vid is people’s like you ou channels like your discriminated another But remember RU-vid have plaice for everyone, for haters and generous people
Hey a Antonio, did you actually watch the video mate? This is a parody. Mark, Jesper and Morley are all good friends of mine and in on the joke. 😅 The video is actually a criticism of exactly the type of people you mention. Watch to the end 😊
You should debunk- ' Pask Makes' next. No human could possibly have the patience he shows making his stuff. Either he is an alien or he has Umpa-Lumpas... Get him to sing.
AND he is impossible to tie down to an interview. He says he is just a little shy and values his privacy but we all know he is hiding something... _or someone_ ... *or someones!*
That's fine, she should watch too! The world really needs to know how ridiculously corrupt I actually am and the risk #FakePallets pose to all woodworkers and YT viewers. 😉
Very funny. BUT, to be honest having started to watch some of these channels on making stuff out of pallets I have now got off my arse in the evenings and been doing creative stuff in my workshop, and most of it has turned out really good so far. And its a cheap hobby.
This was all firmly tongue in cheek. All 3 of them were in on it ;) It was a good bit of silly fun and Phil went above and beyond. The best part of all 3 of these guys growth is their ability to inspire folks like yourself to Just Get Started to quote a Dainer :) Thanks for watching!
Av been out getting plaits all night and come home to see this lmao there is one or to good ones there thay look OK al niver sell for thousands that bull crap 60 or 100 al do ma ones at
Love this video lol hillarious! And sanding being the best part? SOMEone's been raiding Jasons bourbon collection! And how awesome to see my name in the members section! My first ever RU-vid membership subscription aha!
Awww thanks Mel, every new member makes me do a little happy dance to think someone enjoys what I do enough to help support my hobby! I have fixed the listing to be your business for next time :)
I just recently fell into this become a professional woodworker overnight after finding one pallet trend 😂 but like others on here have said it inspired me to get off my azz to go play around with tools and pallets for a couple hours each night so I I'm very thankful to them for that👍🏼
You've hit it right on the head Ron. Part of the thinking of this video was poking fun at people who have this weird desire to tell others not to play with pallets and get 'real' wood. Cool beans if they don't float your personal boat, no one says you have to use them. But having a go at someone on the internet because they use a free material you don't like / bother to look for is like complaining that someone else put pineapple on their own pizza... 🤣🤣
@@FixitFingers totally agree you mess it up you throw it away and start again lol no fancy tools and no straight edges just raw pallet wood that no one wants . :)
It moves, has weird grain and knots, plus the nail holes 😩 You could use real wood from the shop but then no one will watch the video which is, of course, the most important part. So, Fake Artisinal Pallets are the way to go 😉
Hahaha 🤣🤣🤣 I have a similar issue with bed slats clogging up my garage.

I've done a lot of work from pallet boards. I got bored after a while. Because it took a lot of time to sort them out. Maybe I can use pallet boards in a few projects in the future. There are also those who make fake projects just because I use pallet boards... :-) Thanks for this nice, interesting and fun video. Cheers James
That is where fake pallets can help you friend Mehmet! I don't have an Eastern Europe distributor yet but once the Türkiye market opens you'll be the first to know :D
I'm tired of pallets. I've started to target renovation sites in my town. As it happens, 100+ years old support beams from attics are common where I live, and government is renovating 3 big buildings now. Piles of that stuff just lay there, waiting for me to become rich to buy some.😂
@@halthammerzeit that's a great idea. I've been seeing a lot of old building timbers too. Last week I got offered 70 pieces of 240x70mm 6m lengths off an old bridge. 😮 I WISH I had storage and a way to move beams that size 😅
The studio is a little odd. Also very orange on one side and blue on the other... it's almost as if Phil is supported by Sherwood Tools and Im sponsored by Carbatec... 🤔😅🤣
I am glad the first comment was someone who enjoyed it Janet. We had a blast making it, but it will likely attract some... less enthusiastic responses too 😅
Hahahaha sorry mate, yes this is a *very* niche joke video and perhaps out of the wheelhouse of a lot of viewers. Never fear, I have a 'normal' DIY restoration video coming up next week to get back to my more usual style of content :)
@@FixitFingers yes, the super long one. I might have fallen asleep watching it overnight, but you gave me a lot of ideas (and mistakes to avoid, ahah). Take care mate ✌️
Hahaha thanks Allyson. I can't promise too many other purely satirical videos but every now and then the silliness will return. Hard Wood Talk volume two is being drafted 😅
As a complete novice I managed to make a 4x3metre shed out of pallets and pallet wood, I'm sure that anyone with some degree of woodworking skill and experience can make furniture out of old reclaimed pallets. This video is the real fake....
Well done Phil @graduallywizardly, great video with hard hitting investigative journalism. I'm a bit disappointed in that Finger bloke though. As they say on the streets, snitches get stitches or in the case of the woodworking fraternity, splitters get splinters 😄. In all seriousness, ripper video James, well done mate. I'm pretty sure the use of the word scam in the title would have got the youtube algorithm melting down. Anyway mate, keep up the great work. All the best. PS I was just kidding about the stitches.
_Splitters get splinters_ Gold. 🤣The Phil did an amazing job, so more more than I asked him. I went full YT clickbait nightmare on this one with the Thumbnail and Title. The sad part is of course, it worked. This is my new best video out of the blocks. Next week, a good old honest handyman blog fixing some benches... with a paid product placement... just like the good old days 😅
Hahaha cheers mate. I'll not question the criteria you use to judge such things. The Phil is magnificent in all his bearded glory. 'Hard Wood Talk' puts Game of Thrones and Stranger Things to shame may be our next headline 🤣
When you look back through their videos it is so obvious in hindsight isnt it? Go on, rewatch them all, you'll see! (and mine too while you're at it :P)
G'day Jim, in that case I think you would enjoy the video a lot 😉 These guys are all good friends of mine, and the video is a parody poking fun at people who say pallets are useless 😊
There is a flag in the top right during the video. *WARNING* Beware of that _other_ fake CLAMP podcast claiming my turf. To be sure you've got the right one you should listen to all 141 episodes...
The best/worst video I've ever made 🤣 Unlikely to be repeated, my usual content is much more generic, but the @DainerMade Pallet Challenge inspired me :P
I knew it was all a fake, thanks for confirming it. That’s why most of us are stuck on such low subs and they run away with all the views!!!! On a serious note though that was a bloody ripper of a video. Your in a rich vain of form at the moment Mr Fixit. Keep up the great work.
People thank you so much for exposing this terrible undercover business that has been going on far too long. Perhaps as an offshoot from this you could look at the dangers of back street cultivated pallets, back yards tarpaulined over with growing lamps and gigantic thermal signatures sought out by police helicopters. Places where grossly non-standard dimensioned pallets are created to save these makers the need to even cut slats to length. The dangers of these faulty pallets entering the original food chain and causing havoc in warehouses as isle upon isle of goods collapse is a reality that has been overlooked by the authorities for too long. Maybe also you could delve into the secret world of the "$3000 epoxy pour disaster" people. I suspect that many of these epoxy leaks and stresses are actually staged. I am beginning to think that they are in reality just pouring hot coloured wax. Just how flagrant this practice has become was highlighted to me recently when I watched a very carefully produced video of one person claiming he could bend a piece of epoxy in the sunshine. But l admire your business acumen James. If you can't beat them. Join them.
Hahaha the epoxy pour fail could actually be an excellent topic for the next episode of _Hard Wood Talk_ 🤣 If only I knew someone who had done such a silly thing as claiming they mixed Part B with Part B... 😋
A knew they were all fakes. (especially dainer) honestly though m8 pissed my undies watching that. U forgot the Scottish currency for my international service over here. U said I would be a distributor?!🏴👍🫢
@@FixitFingers well my shop is now up and operational and I have a decent space for storage if u wanna ship a load over a could always break them down so u get more revenue per pallet;🫢🤔🏴
Phil has mastered the ancient maker martial art of _trans-folicle-toochin-sutra._ The displacement of that useless cranium run to a glorious lumber-wizard chin apron.
