Every year during the week of Easter, in the main plaza of Uruapan, Michoacan, there is a artisanal market named "Tianguis Artesanal de Domingo de Ramos".
There you can find all type of crafts, textiles, regional dress and traditional indigenous clothes, ceramics, miniature sculptures, toys, wood carvings, metalwork in gold, silver and bronze, leather, woven baskets, handbags, dolls, and alebrijes (mythological figures).
They are made by artisans from the Mazahua, Nahua, Otomí and Purepecha cultures.
According to Wikipedia, in 2015, 1300 artisans participated, with more than a million articles for sale.
Personally, I was very impressed by the ceramics and metalworks that I saw there. I think that their better pieces are worthy of being exhibited in a world class museum, such as the Met in New York. I was also very impressed by the affordable prices.
