great video. any advice for how often to water newly planted T. Fortunei? just planted several of varying sizes a few weeks ago. we're having same intense early summer heat in central VA. don't want them to be water stressed, but i've killed some in the past by over-watering.
It's tough to answer because of different soil and temps everywhere. You want soil to be wet but not mushy like a mud pit. At least once per week if no soaking rain. just guessing 1x 70F+, 2x 80F+ 3+x if temps over 90F. If in doubt take a hand shovel and dig just outside the root zone 6 inches plus and see what it looks like till you get comfortable watering
I purchased a Plant/Tree moisture tester. It tells you if your plant is Dry, Wet or Moist. Get the long moist testers if you have trees over 15’ they work great 👍🏻 from Amazon. They’re the round green testers.
Has the ground been consistently wet or dry? Water: Underwatering brown at the edges first, later followed by yellowing of the whole leaf. Overwatering can be drooping fronds turning yellowish and losing color
