I love the fact that since AR pistols with an arm brace became popular, there hasn't been a giant increase in crime committed by bad guys with SBR type pistols. In other words, there's no need for an SBR designation and no reason to restrict them.

For one third the price, with better ergonomics and controls than the MP5, which uses a paddle mag release and no bolt hold open either. The only advantage of the MP5 is the delayed roller system which reduces felt recoil. I have been shooting my PSA9 over 3 years, several thousand rnds, 0 malfunctions. 23 years on a TACTICAL team. Would have no issue using this, CQB.

I have a PSA-AR9 like that. I removed the handguard and cut the barrel down. Crowned/threaded to 1/2 x 28 and then installed a KAK diffuser. SHOOTS like a laser! I thought my CZ-Scorp was accurate. This is easily the most accurate 9mm I have ever shot. Great 50yd rock n roll pistol. 33rd Glock mags rule!

I have built a few units using PSA build kits and have had zero problems with any of them. If you know what you want, have patience, and ready when the deal is right, it's hard to beat Palmetto State Armory! I will probably never buy a complete AR type firearm again, it's much more satisfying to shoot something you built, plus it gives you a better understanding of how the platform works.

I bought an Ar-15 build kit from Palmetto State Armory and put the rifle together myself. The total cost was about $600 if you include all accessories (sling, red dot, foregrip, etc.) I've had the rifle for about 3 years now and still have had no real functionality issues. All the parts are mill spec so the gun does have an almost clunky feel, although it's something I am able to get passed due to the price point of the gun and the fact I use it for training and target shooting. The gun works and frankly that's what matters to me. I think that Palmetto offers a great quality product at the price point they sell at. I've enjoyed my Ar-15 so much that I am considering ordering a pre build Ar-9 from Palmetto. Just need to save up for a few months...

I have built many different AR style rifles for myself and my family, everything from 9mm, 5.56, 6.5 Grendel, 6.5 Creed, 450 bushmaster and many more using PSA parts. I have never had one single thing wrong on any of them my first 5.56 build has well over 6000 rounds and never stops, I clean it every thousand or so. I would definitely recommend using them with confidence and they run some killer deals as well.

I built a Foxtrot Mike's 9mm using a CMMG Guard bolt & barrel. Even after shaving down the top of the mag release to get the magazine height right, to clear the lugs on the bolt, the LRBHO still grabs that bolt everytime. Best design I've seen without a doubt.

I recently purchased a AR9 16in upper and Glock mag lower with the enhanced trigger from PSA. I'm impressed by the build quality. I've only had a chance to take it to the range twice so far; once indoors just to see how she shot and once outdoors to sight in the Romeo 5 she's running. Nice shooter. Recoil is stout - as others have pointed out - but still really fun. And from a bench, with the grip supported on a sandbag, I was easily getting 2 inch groups at 50 yards with generic 124gr Blazer ammo. I don't have a frame of reference for how that compares to other AR9s with 16in barrels but I'm pretty happy, especially since I'll be using it primarily to shoot steel and plink. Next time I head out I plan on seeing how she does at 100 yards with the same ammo. In the meantime, I installed a FAB rubberized foregrip that seems fantastic and a Missouri Tactical recoil pad on the stock. I'm looking forward to trying those out as well.

I and a friend both have PSA PA-15s. I prefer shooting my PSA over my POF P415, because of the lighter weight (6# vs 9#) and it was so cheap I enjoy beating on it, whereas I paid a lot for my POF so I don't want to scratch it. My PSA PA15 continues to work flawlessly after 3,000 rounds. No complaints. That said, I just ordered an Extar 9 for a house gun. Cheaper and lighter than the PA9.

I paid less for my rugged PC Carbine at 450 with most of the same features and even more minus the butt-stock and pistol grip. It has the threaded barrel, full picatinny rail, a lower rail for optional equipment like a bipod or flashlight. It has a super heavy tungsten steel bolt, a heavy barrel and the best part is that it breaks down into two parts very easily with no effort whatsoever to allow it to be slid into a bag which is super handy if you want to be inconspicuous and put it inside of a backpack. It also takes Glock magazines as well and I will be running suppressed when my tax stamp goes through finally in October or November or whenever. I am running an optic on top which switches to red, green or blue optionally, whichever suits your needs and does come in handy when sighting the optics in using a laser dot bore sight! Use blue dot on optic and the bore sights red and the dots together turn purple when you’re pretty much on target but of course you will need to fire the gun to finely sight in your optic.

The data on the trigger is in accurate. It’s what PSA calls their APT. Which stands for advanced polished/performance trigger. Although the trigger pull is the same weight as their mill spec triggers, (around 5 pounds) it is made of nickel boron and the action and reset is smoother. When I purchased mine they had two options in the 8” barrel length. This exact gun (which I Purchased) which has the APT and the shockwave brace, or you could get it with the mill spec trigger and the SBA3 brace. The latter was $50 more and to me having a better trigger was more important because I planned on putting in SBA4 brace on it which I absolutely love. The shockwave brace is not much better than a naked buffer tube. I hear a lot of guys rattling on about the Extar but keep in mind this pistol is available in three different barrel lengths, is made out of much higher quality materials and with the exception of the brace and the hand grip is all metal versus the Extar is mostly polymer and basically a poor man’s CZ Scorpion.

@@mrgrump2534 an 8 inch barrel will allow all the powder to burn. That will (for most makes of ammo) help it achieve max velocity. Anything more and the bullet may actually slow down, cause the powder is already spent an the bullet is dragging against the lands in the barrel. Any shorter and you have unburned powder (which is why you see muzzle flash) and therefore, the bullet didnt get as much velocity as is could have. It varies though. Like Corbon used fast burning powder so all the velocity was achieved in a 3 inch barrel.

I've bought so much stuff from PSA in the last year I should be a stockholder in the company! The two items I've purchased over and over are their nickel boron BCGs. Logoed either as PSA or Toolcraft, they're as good or better than any competitors' offerings at half the price. The other item I seem to keep ordering is the PSA AR Match Grade 3.5 lb. trigger with the flat bow. It's usual price is $129.95. Why the devil would I want to pay twice that just to get a name like Timney, Geissle, Rise (and many others) stamped on them? I've also bought a number of pistol build kits from them, but once I got snookered by purchasing one I could've gotten cheaper had I only purchased some of the components separately. I know it doesn't make sense because things aren't supposed to work that way, but it happened. I haven't complained since I've been pretty happy with them otherwise. One complaint I do have is that they continue to list items that are out of stock, but they don't say a damn word about when they expect to be restocked, they don't list prices on out of stock items so you can make comparisons for the day when they will be restocked. And they don't offer the option to even get an email notification for when an item might again be available. Being able to backorder an item would be awfully nice, and considering the size of their business, I don't see why they can't do these things to improve their website and the overall online shopping experience.

When I came across your video I was a little suspicious, but I did my research and bought the very one that you reviewed. I LOVE IT! Since I got mine, I have added Magpul MBUS sights, AFG, sling and I am replacing the safety selector with a PSA ambidextrous model and a linear compensator next week. Thanks again for the review and the inspiration.

@@mrgrump2534 I have not yet had any issues with this weapon. I still have all of the parts I originally listed on it as well as a Tru Glo red dot sight. I would have no reservations about using this little piece as a home defense gun. If you are looking to buy, I say go for it.

Nice video and grear shooter !!! I would really buy one of these, but unfortunately they are not imported to my country, so I've purchased a Ruger pc9. It also takes glock mags, and this is a real deal. I think pcc in general are a very good option, spacially when taking the same mags that your sidearm. And 9mm is very good ammo, specially when fired through a long barrel. Cheers !!!

I feel like having 30+ rounds is enough for any event or home defense scenario imo , so having the last round bolt hold really isn’t a dealbreaker for me It’s definitely stupid but I’m used to shooting my ak47 which also doesn’t have a last row bolt hold (I think most don’t) So I think I would just know to reload at a certain point before firing pin Goes “click”

Somebody once told me 9MM is great for low recoil in an AR15...... In all my experience, due to the 9MM AR being blow-back and needing that heavier bolt, it's more of a thumper than a standard AR15 in .223/5.56. That being said, 9MM has less concussion in my experience than .223 / 5.56. But hey, they are fun, cheaper to shoot, and could be paired with a Glock for a "perfect pair" setup.

I've got both good and bad about Palmetto State. I have ordered some stripped lowers, and got them fairly quickly, along with mags, ammo and a case. The bad is that almost everything I want to get is constantly out of stock. One time I got an email telling me that something was back in stock, and by that afternoon, it was out of stock again! My major beef with Palmetto is that they will often not honor their advertising, regardless of the "Truth In Advertising" laws. One time, I ordered some .22 ammo, for a really good price. There were also three other types of that ammo for a very good price. I ordered some, and about three weeks later, I sent them an email and asked them what was going on, since it was showing at "processing" for almost 3 weeks. I wanted to know when I would see some action on the order. I got an email from them the next day telling me that they made a mistake on their pricing and would not be honoring their advertising. I responded to them, telling them that the error was theirs, not mine, and legally they needed to honor their commitment. I even asked them if their reputation, or legal standing, was only worth a few dollars. I got a surly response, citing their "terms and conditions" -- which in no way exempts them from complying with the law -- and told me that the order was being cancelled. I'm considering turning this over to my attorney. I'm relatively certain that they'll take him more seriously than they did me. This last dealing with Palmetto left a very sour taste for Palmetto State. To any of you in Texas, if the firearm has a buttstock, the barrel needs to be at least 16 inches to be legal.

kak is making a gen 2 now that is adjustable; but if your going to change it I would suggest the sba3 instead, since you'd have to change the buffer tube either way. As far as the castle nut, the staking is no where near as "locked in" as people claim they are. If you have a vice and a glock mag block for ar 9s or, a few towels as well as an armorer's tool, give the tool a few good whacks with the hammer counterclockwise... 2 or 3 good whacks and the "staking" should break loose and allow you to change it... don't forget the rear take down pin retention spring and the buffer retention spring and detent when you start to loosen the buffer tube... they have a tendency of disappearing once the pop out...

Sounds like my new Taurus G3C TORO - You buy the gun for a reasonable $400 even. By the time you get your Red Dot on ( CRIMSON and sling your Oligjt Baldr mini under the rail. Now you need to find a funky sheath to accommodate all the extra shape/mass ect. Sticky Holster OR 5-Mod got that done. So cool you have to get the sticky holster T-shirt, ball cap, sticky belt sliders and some stickers. Now, you know any polymer gun will need the stainless guide rod and springs set up and of course a 32rd mag. And a Taurus T- shirt and ball cap since I'm already in the accessories section of the Taurus site. I gotta wear what I shoot and use. So, I'm tucking in just under a grand/ $1,000 for a $400 gun with acoutramonts. Oh, I also got a little field cleaning and service kit for this one. Works on the others as well so .... I was going to buy ammo but I only had the grand ? He he he ! That's where they git ya, as gramps used to say. When I see $1200 on an AK I'm thinkin " ya ! That's about $3,000 before they are done with me. Of course I make it easy, I like building whole packages - when I get to the range or in the field - nothing will be forgotten or needed - I show up complete or overdone. The have and not need, need and not have bla bla bla. So, when I see the price on any firearm I'm thinking " ya right " nessesary upgrades, extras, accessories, apearal ect then we'll see .......

I bought a similar pistol. My M lok handguard looks a little different and I got the adjustable brace. Looks really cool. Was surprised how heavy it is. (I like that) My only issues are: the brace will not stay in the rear most position. The front pin hole was drilled a little large which makes the upper fit a little sloppy. The hammer that came with it had kind of a sharp angle and was beating the crap out of the bottom of the bolt (Looked like the surface of a file) I think the bolt may be a little soft. Replaced the hammer with one from an old AR parts kit I had that had a more rounded contour where it rides the bolt and it's starting to smooth out. But the pistol looks great shoots flawless, and is quite accurate I love it!

I took delivery 7 Sep. 2019 returned to PSA 23 SEP; they acknowledged they got it; heard nothing since. Mine would not eject the fired round and would try to feed a live round with the fired round still in there. Quite a few times the fired brass caught in that little hole just behind the mag well and the bolt closed on that; that is a very hard jam to clear. We fired several hundred various make rounds all brass 115 FMJs with various Glock Mags. (We tested all the mags even the one included; which would not work at all in the AR 9; in my Gen 1 Sub2K and they all worked perfectly, eh?) I would guess we averaged a "jam" every ten rounds mostly the bolt closing on a fired case and a new round at the same time. It appeared to me that the bolt was opening too soon and it was only pressure blowing the fired brass out of the chamber; not allowing the extractor to hold the brass until it hit the ejector? I would have tried a heavier buffer & recoil spring if it was me but as it was a brand new gun guaranteed for life I returned it to PSA for a refund; they would not give me a refund and still have my AR 9, eh? I have seen videos on Utube of guys shooting the AR 9 with absolutely no problems. I asked PSA that if I can't have a refund give me one of them Utube guns. I would never buy or recommend anyone buy the PSA AR 9, eh? I will up date when ever I hear from PSA.
