Just going back and rewatching this, I’ve gotten really into exotic palms in Southern California and zone pushing there and have been reading and watching a lot about people trying super exotic palms there like coconuts and Licuala species. Such a beautiful and palmy area, I hope to move there one day. What a true paradise Ralph created, with so many years of hard work, trial and error, and love of these incredible plants and growing them and trying new species in SoCal. His decades of dedication have clearly payed off, and he will forever be remembered as one of the pioneers of palm experimenting in Southern California. He is dearly missed by so many, and remembered fondly for his kindness, hospitality, and all that he achieved and inspired others to do growing new species and zone pushing in SoCal, he continues to inspire us to this day and left behind a legacy all palm growers should aspire to achieve. Thanks for the wonderful video, I’ve recently been watching a lot of Huell Howser’s videos on amazing places in Southern California but this is by far my favorite. Thanks for sharing, I hope to one day create a slice of paradise like this for myself, such a gorgeous place!

The knowledge your Father shared with Huell was infectious--what a penchant for nature/greenery/palms! Midway during the episode I thought I'd definitely like to catch a glimpse of that house today (2020) when I'm in the area...I'm sure so much has grown since '95/'96. Thanks for the update Steve! I hope you continue to love and nurture the palms like your Father did-- happy gardening, mate! Lastly, RIP to Huell, your Mother and Father-- may GOD rest their souls, Ameen!
