So many people don't get that they couldn't feel Palpatine's energy as they had never been in the presence of a Sith before, that's why they died so easily. Admittedly, Lucas could've shown that fact better. Windu 'skated' the light and dark so that's why he could feel him and technically was more powerful if it wasn't for Anakin

Yes Palpatine was 'more powerful' in the sense he was able to cloak and keep even the Jedi in darkness of what was really going on in the entire galaxy! Even in front of Yoda before they fished him out

Yep... Complete hypocrisy by Anakin there... Tho it might also be partly because he feels wrong and guilty about how he just beheaded Dooku and that he knows after he (literally) disarmed him knows he killed an unarmed prisoner. And the fact that hes been manipulated into believing that he needs him alive for hid power and abilities... (which Palpatine reveals right after that he doesn't actually have any power or idea on cheating death... So wtf didn't Anakin have a hang on a minute moment right then and there 🤦🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️🤣

Anakin decapitated an enemy commander in a fight that guy started….Mace Windu marched into the chancellor’s office and committed treason against the Galactic republic by attempting an extra judicial assassination of the supreme chancellor without evidence of a crime…. Proper procedures, or the authority to arrest the supreme chancellor in the first place. Nothing Windu did here was legal…. But executing order 66 was legal because of The Jedi actions here.

@@Matt-yg8ubthey did have proper reason to arrest sidious, seeing as he had told anakin that he was a Sith Lord, and not just any Sith Lord but the one that orchestrated the entire war. Palpatine then resisted arrest and killed 3 Jedi. Windu was extremely justified in arresting Palpatine.

Well he didn’t really care about him standing trial, he just wanted Palpatine alive so he can find out how to keep Padme alive.

These are masters though and Agen Kolar is a blade master, so these guys should of been well prepared and equipped. I believe that this scene could of been better. There was a fan made film made on RU-vid and begins with the opening of Agen Kolar dead, however it has Mace and Kit fighting Sidious and I thought that was a lot better than what we got in the film. Agen Kolar was looking away and Sassee Tiin was wide open to get killed.

Im sorry, but from a logical standpoint, my problem with this is that even if lore accurate how can you explain easily dodging and deflecting multiple blaster bolts from multiple different directions but then not having clairvoyance enough to not hit eachother?

Its cool for what it is, but McDormand's age and physical limitations almost certainty had the most to do with that ya know, Its actually impressive the Dooku actor did as good as he did but choreography is difficult especially high level stuff and for elderly actors ya know.

I mean not to be devil's advocate but if Mace Windu is so obviously dead set on him dying then wouldn't he try using whatever force powers to defend himself. Even if he was innocent? Anakin was questioning already if what he did with killing Dooku was right because it wasn't the jedi way but Mace was completely alright with it. The same guy that said I wasn't allowed to be a master is telling me he has no hesitation killing someone that's "supposedly" defenseless at that point when even he himself was feeling hesitant for killing Dooku. That's what made him contemplate that maybe the Jedi aren't as good as they say they are.

@@stevenfriedman2902 While it is true that Mace Windu personally would have preferred killing Palpatine, he initially was only going to arrest him so he could be tried. Anakin saw that moment, and also saw that it was Palpatine who used force lighting first. Windu was only defending against it, Palpatine could have stopped at any moment.

Not to be that guy... But we all understand that Palpatine is manipulating Anakin in this scene, yes? He was trying to make himself look weak and frail so that Anakin would be pressures to step in. He obviously knew he could stop... But he clearly knew the limits at which he could use it without actually killing himself, as well.

I think that is what would happen if there weren't any 3 more movies after this one. People seem to forget that a lot of conveniences were allowed to happen just so episode 4 could exist in a natural way with a minimum amount of plot holes.

Kenobi may have jumped back up but Maul just stood there like a lemon and got cut down someone of Maul's skill would have easily parried or dodged out of the way Kenobi had to win for plot reasons and there was no really good way of doing that.

He should simply told Anakin to either piss off and go wait at the Temple or else he would be the next Sith to have a taste of his lightsaber.

I mean Windu was not going to kill him so it would literally not have changed much especially if Anakin would have still defied Windu's judgement Anakin was incredibly illogical in this scene and its an obvious writer's flaw in the dialogues, Anakin knows Windu wants to bring Palpatine to trial before the senate but Palpatine keeps attacking Windu with lightning, forcing Windu to defend himself and making Palpatine look like he was going to die, manipulating Anakin into a perfectly avoidable dilemma By having such a flawed writing, they portray Anakin as a mentally challenged if not mentally handicapped individual who should never even have made it to Jedi Knight rank lack of logic and piss-poor judgement

It was slow because, for some reason, Lucas decided to have the actor for Palps do the fight himself last minute, rather than a stunt double, as was originally planned and rehearsed. So this 60 year old man with no training and minimal practice is being put on the spot for the shot. Of course it's gonna look slow and janky.

That's the dumbest thing I've heard today. No one complained about the other fights being too fast, that used stunt doubles. In fact the fast paced lightsabre fights are one of the few things most people agree the prequels did right. Like Dooku vs Anakin where Dooku was mostly stunt double. People are complaining because the lord of the Sith and top Jedi masters move slower than arthritic sloth and it looked terrible. If they'd made it look good and fast paced nobody would complain about that.

I don't like when star Wars just invent random canon explanation in legends. They don't explain that in the movie so it's just a random Scream

Moreover although the original 6 movies are Great, there isn't enough screen time to cover an universe so vast.. therefore some things are left unspoken, unless you delve deeper into the lore and understand some other elements ! Granted not everything new comes as an improvement, but at the very least one has to remain open minded ...

Exactly! People go mace was winning...yes because Palpatine was mostly letting him. I don't believe he was in nearly as much danger as it looked. He needed to put anakin in no turning back now situtition and this was it.

Nope. Palp doesn't know that Anakin would show up. Mace truly kicked his butt. He did not hesitate to strike Palp. He is a true Jedi and that he made it clear from the very start. Palp will NEED to face the law & justice at the Senate Court. So killing him will not fulfill that. When Anakin arrived, that's the only time Palp resorted to mercy-acting. Go ask the writer/director himself. He confirmed this on an interview.

It's not only about power though If that's the case then how come Obi Won has beaten Vader/Anakin twice now? Vader should be waaaay stronger then Obi Won right? by what everyone says... yet he loses both fights. Why is that? Everyone has a weakness and why shouldn't Palpatine? And why can't you believe it? Vaapad uses BOTH light and dark... which to me... is more powerful then just using either light or dark the force always wants to be in a equalibrium anyways. Why can't Vaapad overcome a Sith since it's such a dangerous style to use (Mace's previous padawan turned to the dark side trying to use Vaapad) And it doesn't strike me that Palp would take a huge chance and "act" to get beaten especially to someone like Mace who... as we all know is the most unpredictable Jedi of them all and your telling me Palp just is going to take a chance like that risk everything he has done beforehand to gamble on Anakin who regardless Palpatine wasn't going to share everything with anyways? I don't buy it. Fact is Palpatine didn't even need any apprentice and to risk it all on an apprenctice he doesn't need is... just not Palp to me Every force user should have a weakness including Palp. That is how the force works... both light and dark have to have balance To balance how strong Palp is we have Vaapad to counter him with Makes perfect sense to me regardless of what anyone has to say For me.. it was that crazy motherfocker who learned how to use BOTH light and dark who was able to subdue Palpatine then Anakin just had to fock everything up Mace should have struck down Palpatine when he was crawling on the ground get it over with but hesitation... well... gets people dead.

Also forgot to add it doesn't make sense how Yoda who supposedly lives near 900 years compared to someone like Palpatine who in the Phantom Menace is 52 years old (65 in this movie Return of the Sith) and has the same knowledge/power as Yoda How the heck does that make sense. Yoda being able to live so long.. should theoretically be most powerful force user of all time since his species live so long he has the longest time to learn all there is in the force. At least the light side I guess This is something I thought never made sense Would Yoda when he was younger be able to beat Palpatine? If not... then that's kinda dumb Had Yoda learned Vaapad or learned BOTH light and dark he would be unstoppable Yet in The Return of the Sith we either get a stalemate or Palp wins depending on how you look at their fight in this movie The only thing I can think of is the rule of 2 for Sith and taking over the body Where if it first started with either Darth Bane or Darth Plagueis being able to steal the body of their apprentice thus... all the knowledge beforehand... doesn't get lost Otherwise it just doesn't make sense how someone who can live near 1000 years old isn't stronger then a species that doesn't live that long....
