See how I built the Palram Harmony 6' x 8' polycarbonate greenhouse. The Palram Harmony has an aluminium frame with polycarbonate window panels. There were a large number of parts in the kit but thanks to a comprehensive construction guide supplied by Palram, it was easy to understand how each part fitted together.

The only other tools I needed for this build were:
10mm spanner
80cm spirit level
Screwdriver

I had my doubts if I, a single woman, could do a greenhouse kit. Your vid convinced me that I can! Would you recommend I put door together first to make sure it'll fit door opening? That's what I'm nervous about.. I'd get to point to hang door and it won't fit. I see you used a level. If it's square and level the door SHOULD fit.

This was helpful, thank you. Mine is only 82#. Our patio is not level because there is a drain for rainwater (Houston, Tx) plus we are in hurricane alley. I am concerned how to securely anchor it. We are going to use pallets anchored together with ratcheting straps (which should multiply the weight) and screw the green house base to that. How we anchor the pallets to the concrete is the conundrum. Because even if the weight triples or quadruples, I am afraid winds will move, lift or flip it without an anchor.

I think so. We had about a foot of snow on the roof for a few days during the last winter and it caused no damage. -12C is about as cold as it got so not as cold as for you but we also get 80mph gusts of wind quite often and it holds up fine

After a year I'm very glad I went got the plastic panel version. Theyve been hit lots with tree branches etc and no damage done. I've never noticed much noise when windy from outside. Maybe slightly noisy inside but nothing that bothers me too much. The panels aren't as thick as glass so don't hold as much heat but at least I don't have breakages to deal with

My door opens the same direction as yours. But the screw isn't long enough if using 7083 and 7085 on the inside of the door, and 7084 and 7086 on the outside front of the door. At the moment, I left off part 7086 on the outside and the screw was long enough. With 7086 the gap between the outside and inside is too much. I am clearly doing something wrong (since you got it to work). Although the door will stay closed now, it would be great to figure this out.

@ADashofDIY
@ADashofDIY 3 года назад
We get 80mph gusts occasionally but the corner where I have it is fairly sheltered. The issue I have is with flying sticks etc when it's stormy. So far they've bounced off the top and caused no damage. The base is as solid as when it went down. No movement that I can see. I predrilled the holes with a masonry drill bit then the screws drive straight in and hold really well. Link in the description to those I got. No glue needed either for the panels. They slot in and stay fixed. I would need to take the frame apart to get them out

Thank you so much for your quick response! I just bought one of these yesterday and it was so helpful to see the sequence of how you put it together! Plus was considering a more complex method for anchoring and seeing this paver/cement method put me at ease! If you don’t mind I have two more questions: have you found you needed to adhere the panels to keep in place from wind and help insulate? I saw you purchased the auto open mechanism for the vent. Is it just a button you push and it opens when you push the button or does it open when it senses certain conditions inside? (The latter sounds unlikely but I haven’t found any info about this yet). Thanks!
@ADashofDIY

Great Video Kyle! I have a few questions now that it has been up about 1.5 years. Do you think you could assemble it using a cordless drill-driver and a bit instead of a wrench, etc.? I have seen some people assemble their units and put them on like either a 4x4's or 2x6's or so and that gave a few more inches of height. Can you see where that might be an advantage for you or help with drainage, other options? These are just ideas I have seen and wondered how your experience could help those who might be planning this kind of project in the near future. Many thanks for good work....Mike
@ADashofDIY

Hi Mike, yes definitely. In fact I've built two more greenhouses since then and used a drill with a 10mm socket bit. Helped a lot. For one of them I did raise the height. Made a frame with some old pallet wood but 4x4s or something similar would work great.

my instructions state outside frame is 73"x 96.5" mine is 72" x 96" - anyone else have this issue? Also cheap plastic corner pieces make it near impossible to square the frame they flex when you put a measuring tape on them - i can pull the corners to make it any measurement i want.

I have a Palram Mythos greenhouse which is only half built, I am not able to build it on my own due to severe breathing difficulty with COPD and Emphysema, I had someone come to erect it for me but he found it too difficult so he has left me in the lurch, if anyone near ML8 has built one for themselves and could help me out with this I'd be very obliged, I wouldn't expect them to do it for nothing so if you can help, please feel free to message me and give me your price to get it finished, otherwise I might be just as well to break it down and scrap it.

Hello Kyle. Hope your greenhouse is better quality than mine. Its been a constant battle just to keep mine in one piece. Mine has survived several storms but its been a fight. Building in the summer everything looks good, then we move into Autumn and Winter and the storms arrive. This is what its like in a storm in my polycarbonate greenhouse: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Uj1Kl2Ppt30.html

you have done the same mistaken as me the corner posts are wrong in your video they are 996 parts should be 9802 ones you have put in are for the roof they have locating holes the corner uprights have none ,be honest and tell the truth

Hi, I have one of these and have only done the base so far (bought kit Sept 2022). I have an instruction manual from the internet that mentions Part 9802 BUT the actual manual that came with the greenhouse itself does not mention this part number at all. On page 3 of the included manual it shows part 996 going at the four corners. It then uses the further four part 996s for the gable ends above the door and back of the house( pages 22-27).This manual lists a total of 8 part 996s being included in the kit. The mention of 9802 confused me and I initially thought I didn't have all the parts until I looked at the included, presumably most up to date, manual. Looking at other videos of Palram greenhouse construction the mechanism of some parts fitting together does appear to have changed over time.

@@susanstebbing4847 susan the four corner posts have no holes the nuts are retained in the groove there are only 4 9802s 996 parts with the holes are the 4 upright gable angles

@@davidredpath5922 I have just completed my build-it seems to have gone together correctly. As I said the manual with my Sept 2022 house makes no mention of parts 9802 anywhere. . The kit included eight parts 996 as listed in the included manual which are the four corner uprights and the four gable ends. I think Palram must have altered the kit

Hi Kyle, thanks for the video! In my model of 6 x 8 there is a small magnet contraption that is supposed to fit on the bottom of the door to help it stay closed. I cannot figure out how to affix it properly. I am wondering if is designed improperly or if I am missing something?
@ADashofDIY
@ADashofDIY 3 года назад
The magnet is really to keep the door open when it swings back. So make sure its on the outside of the door. Hangs slightly below.

This is the bit I’m struggling with, the directions aren’t clear and it doesn’t seem to fit at all.

When will people learn that the music is annoying af?? I turned the volume down but then I miss his occasional comments. Why is it so hard to make a silent video?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm still working on the best way to include music during my videos and will take note to review the volume for my next one.

@@ADashofDIY The music wasn't that bad. A completely silent video is sure to lose the attention of more people. And, like the original commenter has already stated, they have the choice of muting it and to fix the problem of missing comments could easily turn closed captions on.

I agree .. great video thank-you, but the music was just too annoying. Perhaps use something a bit less intrusive.
