My new to me Palstar HF-Auto that I bought from QRZ Swapmeet. I got this at a decent price and it works perfectly! I show you how I tune and manually tune my Zero Five 27' HOA inverted L for 80m/75m to my Palstar HF-Auto. I eventually make a contact with a Special Events Station.

I just purchased the HF Auto from Palstar. My first impression was this thing is HUGE! Hardly fits atop my desk. But it works great! Tunes fast and is surprisingly quiet. Not really a fan of those relay controlled auto tuners, especially at power. Mine has software version 2.40 Which seems to have eliminated the Tuning Level feature. Tunes all at 1.3 or less... I’ll have to call Palstar to confirm this... Seems to cut out some of the QRM I was getting with my LDG auto tuner as well...

Never been a fan of antenna tuners, especially in the shack, but even the best installation with the tuner at the feed point of the antenna, you are going to radiate less than if your antenna was resonant.

You have some very nice gear, the Palstar is an appealing unit, no need to pursue that perfect SWR though.

Hello Darren Just watched your HF-Auto Video. I also have one. I think that you missed a function of the tuner/matcher. Yes there are three output connectors on the rear, you mentioned that you wished that you could remotely switch these ports. You do not have to, the unit has settings to remember which antenna is assigned to which band, go to SETUP to set these, there is a . So I have my 160/80/40 dipole on #3 port, my 6m on #2 and my HF on #1. So as I change bands the auto switching does that for me. Also, since you have an ICOM rig, you really need a W5NTQ interface that connects to the IC-7610 MOLEX connector, the SEND RCA pin and then connects to the amplifier's PTT connection. What it does is to set the Rig's tune power to around 9 watts, blocks the Amplifier from keying up during tune time, then after tune is complete restores the rig to full power output and re-enables the AMP to go to normal use. This allows the HF-Auto to go to its tune cycle at low power using its memorized settings, it's fast and flawless. He will be making a few more of these boards and can get you one, but you'll need to put it in an enclosure. I'll send you his email.

Do you have two station locations? You said that you were in south Texas. Before, you were in Jacksonville, Florida. What’s the highest SWR that you have without the tuner? If you’re operating remote, maybe you could have a webcam pointed at the tuners display. If the webcam also had a microphone, you could also hear the tuner operate remotely.

I have the SunSDR2 DX and the Expert SDR3 is problematic so far. We were told that the final version of SDR3 would be out in 2022...it so far still in Beta as of January 1 2023. I have problems with vox on SDR3. Other problems are popping up and are still not addressed. I love my SDR2DX and will stick with the Expert SDR2 operating system till they release the first supported version of 3. The range....I understand the max power able to run with the HF Auto is 1800 watts. Range of 2500 watts? What is that? I think I will stick with my Dentron MT2200A. It works all the time and is easy to tune. Best tuner I've ever owned and I don't have to pay $1700. The Palstar is very impressive though. Great video
