Have followed and loved Pam Ayres since I was a young teen. Brilliant talent, unique, there will never be another like her sadly. I’ve enjoyed reading her poems and stories to others and laughing our heads off because they’re so funny and so true.
Oct 20, 2019. I a 78 years old. This is the first time I ever heard of Pam Ayers. A perfect example that no matter how old you are, there is something to learn. She could be on anyone's show, stand up anywhere.
miller forester. AND, without the foul disgusting language they all use, to their shame it’s the women also. Pam Ayers is lovely. Might be inuendo, but it’s the lovely Morecambe and Wise sort.
Those of you who have heard the lady before will enjoy the repeat. Those who have never before, will be surprised and pleased, at such brilliant skill.
Apart from William Shakespeare, Pam Ayres was the furst poet I knew and she was the definately the first I enjoyed. What a great talent she has. In a quiet way I think she is a national treasure. :)
We in New Zealand Loved our primary teacher reading her child appropriate poems to us in to 80s. Esp " i wish I looked after my teeth" ... First relevant and fun poems we'd ever heard. 😊
That is exactly what I think………if she were, we would all look forward to each important event in the country being celebrated by a brilliant poet. PA doesn’t only write great, amusing, poems. Years ago I heard her reading a poem about how she felt when her son left home….to go to University, I think it was. It was so moving, and so true.
Those of us remember Pam first came on tv and win the contest again...and became instant star..Some 60bysars later I was talking to some budding poets and suggested they looked up Pam ,now that Google etc avail.. And every one loved her style, words and everything about her Thank you Pam you made a 85 year old happy...just listening. ❤
I don’t think it was quite 60 years ago but it was certainly getting on towards it! I can’t be sure without looking it up but I’d guess that I was about 6-7 perhaps at the time she was on Opportunity Knocks. I distinctly recall my Dad asking Mum if it was the girl from his office. It was and he came home from work a couple of nights later with a copy of her first (self published) book with an inscription inside for my brother and I.
Absolutely love Pam Ayres. Her over pronounced diction is just perfect. I would've love to have seen a collaboration with the late great Victoria Wood. Now that would have been something really special ❤
Pam Ayres, you are absolutely the Icing on the Cake. It's not easy making me laugh these days as I've got a bit old and grumpy, but I laughed and laughed at your poem and I bet my kids would say, "That sounds just like Dad," If they heard it.
@@elaineprescott3972 I agree with you jane , all they feed us now are obnoxious unfunny morons who cannot deliver a line without several expletives , yet just listen to how hilarious pam is , yet the tv bosses are not interested
tom jones. But they were! I’ve seen her live shows around the country and watched every one of her dozens of tv shows! Do you mean you never saw her? She was awarded the MBE in 2004 for ‘services to comedy’. Her shows were 2 hours long on radio. She was active and such a hit in the 1990s/2000s and was still doing these shows in 2017/18. Excellent good clean fun. A lovely lady, .
It's not my fault that I know everything. Blame my wife, she insists I have an answer ready for everything, without my answer she is powerless, because she will have nothing to argue about....
Good Old Pam. I first saw her on the TV while I was still in the army at Bulford in Wiltshire in 1975/76. I thought she was brilliant then and still do
So refreshing to hear humour and witty wordplay without a barrage of.. ah.. "modern language" besmirching the process. Pam Ayers is truly a national treasure. I have been for a dental appointment today & recommended to the health care professionals Pam's poem "I wish I'd looked after me teeth". It certainly rings true!
This brings back so many childhood memories, laughing with my father. She is pure genius and her creations are hilarious. Good old fashioned humour wrapped in a poem. Love you Pam. A family favourite. 🇦🇺 I don’t like the Ashes line though 😂
Absolutely brilliant, saw her again last November in Oxford and she's as good as ever to an enthusiastic packed house. I've just read her autobiography, The Necessary Aptitude.
Such a kind lady. I asked permission to print one of her poems ( Tippy Tappy Feet) in a dog club magazine. She replied in person giving permission and no charge
Loved Pam Ayers since she debuted ,and guested on many 1970's tv shows-always a pleasure and so very clever.I'd not heard this one before and laughed out loud so often ,the nursing home staff want to know the reason for all the hilarity.I'm going to crack open another G+ T and watch some more.Cheers Pam!
