Pamela's PRO Workout is a powerful generative source of both random rhythms and modulation. Combined with the loop parameters, pitch quantiser, and more, these sources of randomness can be transformed into repeating rhythmic or note sequences that can be altered and shaped or evolved. In this first part we take a look at how to create repeating sequences from scratch with a follow up video coming soon.
This is part of our new video series where we take a closer look at the more unique and powerful features of Pamela's PRO Workout. Subscribe to stay up to date on upcoming videos in the series!

omg that sneak peak of the next video. exactly what i wanted in my rack but not realizing pam's could do it.

Great to see this series, they are really helpful. Can you trigger the seeds with external CV?
@busycircuits
@busycircuits 11 месяцев назад
Yes, it is possible via the Cross Ops. Check back for the upcoming Part 2 where we'll look at how to do it.

This PPW series is great. I use the quantized pitch loop feature often to make sequences. Can a channel be re-seeded with a gate/CV in signal by chance?
@busycircuits
@busycircuits 10 месяцев назад
Yes, in the Cross Ops list simply choose 'In 1' or 'In 2' as the source for Reset Seed. That will use either CV1 or CV2 to reset the seed when a trigger is received.

I've been trying to get a chord progression out of my Pam's. I know i can just offset cv to transpose it, but really what would be ideal was if it were possible to set one of the CV ins to sweep through quantization modes. It'd make it possible to build a full generative chord prog by having one channel offset the root note, and another change the chord type. Any chance assigning CV in to modulate the quantiser mode could be added in a future firmware?

Aha- I must confess I didn’t know you could build a loop beat by beat. Thank you.

awesome video! thanks! while using quantize is it possible to define which is the root note? for example, if I want a C major scale, can I achieve that by having the original note from the oscillator as C and then Pamela will play notes on C major scale?
@busycircuits
@busycircuits 9 месяцев назад
Yep - exactly!

Lowering the percentage is great but in quantize mode, it would be great to restrict it to specific octave ranges.
@busycircuits
@busycircuits 11 месяцев назад
Use offset (and level) to do this and note each 20% is an octave.

Hi guys. I read the manual and i wonder, what happened with the RSkip function? Is it still available in pam pro or only in pams new?

A question which has boggled my mind - how can you program/sequence complicated tuplets (say 5:4) in Pam's? The euclidian mode is not exactly as evenly spaces as e.g. in a Frank Zappa melody.

How would you go about tuning the oscillator in the first example so that it matches the correct quantization Pams is giving out? This has been something I have struggled with.
@glnnk_art
@glnnk_art 11 месяцев назад
The scale is independent from the actual pitch, isn’t it?
@julianeustace8064
@julianeustace8064 11 месяцев назад
@@glnnk_art i would imagine it is. But the issue relates to initially setting the correct pitch of a vco. Eg. if I tune a vco to a C, and then use a sequencer like the metropolix and set that to output a C, I usually have to slightly re-tune the vco.
@busycircuits
@busycircuits 11 месяцев назад
You'll want to tune your oscillator to C to match the notes displayed on Pam's quantiser.

Can you TAP to set a custom bpm?
@busycircuits
@busycircuits 10 месяцев назад
Yes with the Axon 2 expander or patch a 'manual' gate into clock input and set PPQN to 1.

Why is it not possible to do random quantised loop when modifier is set to trigger CV or trigger clk? All these options disappear. I want Pams to output a quanised random stepped voltage based on an external step sequence trigger coming into it via clk or CV, I don't care which and I don;t care how, this should be possible?
@busycircuits
@busycircuits 2 месяца назад
You want Pam to output a fixed random level which only changes to a new value on the arrival of an external trigger from your step sequencer ?
