I have been married to a Panamanian citizen for 20 years now. We were leaving November 13th to November 20th to take our 4 year old son to meet his family. My wife who is Panamanian canceled the trip and said that it was not safe for us at this moment.

Some other sources seem to be presenting a perspective on the wonderfully peaceful protests that is rather biased in favor of the protesters. Happy to live in the Coronado area. Friends live in the PTY area, Marbella. No idea. They still like to go out in the evening. Sorry. I can NOT understand people who think, that business is as usual. “Can you believe? They closed the restaurants already at 5pm. What do I eat…” Seriously? What is wrong with this people? Today I just checked again. “Ohh we go later in the afternoon to Casco Viejo….” I asked if they honestly like to get in trouble. Response? “Why?” I honestly don’t understand why anyone doesn’t like to listen. - I was asked the last week a couple days if I am Canadian or American. Lucky me, I am German. But people start disliking Canadians. Not even mentioning the “US citizen allergy “ some Panamanians have historically. Keep safe everyone. Watch the local News.

My husband and I have not been there yet and have a 14 vacation already booked for last week Feb/March 2024. and we are from Canada. Its getting to the time where we need to consider do we cancel or do we go.. My husband is really nervous about going. Me on the other hand want to wait and see how things are going.

Hello I was there last week Monday

I was coming to Panama from Wednesday November 8th to the 12th. Staying at the Executive hotel. Trying to see if it would be a good idea to come.

I can't see the roadblocks endings. I had the same mentality thinking logically police and communities will get fed up with the protests and it would end up being sporadic roadblocks that will cause delays after being cleared After experiencing it firsthand I know I was very wrong as everyone just seem to accept it as part of life. I can just think the goal is to control and block every town from travel by road. I just traveled yesterday from Costa Rica and had to go through around 6 roadblocks to David after coming from the border. The guys at the roadblocks didn't seem tired and many guys making money transporting people between roadblocks. Too many guys making money doing it and I don't think they will easily give up.

How long you think it would last based on your last time experience. I have a flight on Dec 2. Makes me worry!

You are doing an EXCELLENT job of keeping us informed. And yes, we women want all of the details. Thanks for bringing it. I have not moved to Panama, yet. I have a visit planned for next month, so hopefully the political issues will be resolved by then.

I totally agree don’t take back roads. It is best to be safe than be stuck in a bad situation.

I wish to add: if you are coming to Panama and planning to stay at the Hotel Panama, RIU Hotel, Ejecutivo Hotel, Le Meridien, Hilton Hotel, W Hotel, InterContental Miramar I beg you to reconsider them because they literally are next to the hot spots
