Yeah, Eddie jumped into the fountain of youth and got a new body and hands. Amazing isn't it? Dude, this guy plays better than Eddie. Eddie was God back in the day, but now there are 2-5 million players out there better. Just like there are a million martial artists today that can beat Bruce Lee. It's called human progress bro. It doesn't mean Eddie sucks. It means Eddie was so good, he inspired players to practice harder and be better than him. Just like Bruce Lee did in MA. Once mankind stops trying to be better than the current top guy in "anything", we are DONE advancing as a species. Understand man?

I can never make that B-string dive bomb at the beginning sound right. Are you hitting a pinch harmonic on the open string? Or hitting the fat open E string at the same time?

Great playing, great tone and very accurate to the original recording. I think he used a touch of chorus with a slow rate instead of the phaser but it still sounds kickass. This song shows Eddie was a great rhythm guitarist as well as an awesome lead player.

My dad played old country music on acoustic guitars my entire childhood. I played a little bit but was never motivated to learn to play Conway Twitty...lol.....or even Johnny Cash. No 30 years later I keep listening to music from the 80's when I first really started liking music. VH is what I want to listen to and now I'm going to attempt to learn. A daunting task.

I'm using a Line 6 Flextone II amp in this recording... got the backing track from guitar backing track (the site) ... I tried Amplitube recently and was disappointed that I could not get a good EVH tone with any of the amp models I tried...

That explains why I couldn't find the "Rectified" amp model on my Pocket POD which is based off the POD 2.0 bean. The same amp model(1994 Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Tremoverb combo) on the POD 2.0 and Pocket Pod is listed as "Treadplate". Definately the same amp model. I adjusted to his settings and it sounded great! Shows that the 20yr old Line 6 Pod 2.0 modeling technology still holds up well to todays standards. There is a Van Halen preset on the pocket pod called"Jump" based on the "Brit High Gain" model that I was using previously but this is much better..

Nice job, so many players don't get the nuances of Ed's rhythm playing, like banging away on the E string for fill.When you're the only guitar player in the band, to keep the sound full is an art. Ed, as always was a master at it.

A lot are saying this person is better than Eddie. I'm not discounting that, he may be. However, let's not forget the fact that Eddie wrote this music, sang backup vocals, and was a master at performing live. You must consider all aspects, Eddie is a true legend and innovator. Having said that, this is an amazing cover!!! Just please keep in mind of the time when this music was created as how much of a master Eddie was. Technique is only one aspect, Eddie had it all!

Great job, dude. You're shredding it! I also love hearing Dave's voice "out front" of the mix a little more. But I'm glad the original mix engineer buried all the "heavenly octave" background vocals in the pre-choruses and choruses. Those don't add to the track IMO. Great song, GREAT job!
