Ya I really like the 50mm now the 35 and 24 are in my thoughts. The sigma versions are good too but the af is a little weaker. The images are different vibes or looks. The panasonics add a hint of vintage

have you tried the 18mm? if so, which one would you prefer?

I haven’t tried it. I know people love it. So just depends on if you want extra width or not. I might pick one up eventually as well

I'm torn between the 24mm GM and the 24mm Lumix. The Lumix will be better for run and gun because the IBIS is far better on Panasonic, but the 24mm GM looks nicer because it's f1.4. Which one do you prefer ?

You’re picking your camera system based on their 24 option? Or you have both a Sony and Panasonic?

@@jakefelzien No, I have both Sony and Panasonic FF. I have not a 24mm lens yet.

YOu mentioned you couldn't use your 24 in stills like you do in video to get sensor crop and increase the perceived length on your lens....? i use my S5ii with crop mode for photos every once in while - you can do it in camera just like in video - smaller file, but no quality loss (per Lumix). I use it with my 35mm for travel and get a nice 50 equivalent out of it. If in a pinch, you can go one notch smaller on file size and get 70mm out of it. Shoot in RAW + Fine Jpg and set jpeg to M (medium) then turn "Teleconverter" on and that gets you APS-C Crop. Turn JPEG to S (small) and get M43 crop - doubling your focal length. - mot perfect, but looks better than the M43 files coming out of my Lumix LX100ii - and they're in focus! Granted - not top notch for pro work, but for traveling light and family fun and still getting really good quality - not much to complain about. I compared portraits in the same spot and another set making sure I moved to match the space I was filling up in the framing - there's is a positive compression effect, just like when using an actual 50 - I could even see my facial features flatten out as the lens got longer. When you play back your photos in camera and flick through the display menu - you'll see the focal length on the exif data change for each photo you've shot at different teleconverter ranges - very nice trick from Lumix....for some reason the teleconverter makes the lens 1mm shy of true APSC crop and M43 - so a 35mm comes out as 49mm and 69mm.

Oh cool!!! I’ll have to look into this more and see how I like the quality for just fun and family stuff 😊

@@jakefelzien Jake, I’ve got a BMPCC4K with sigma 16mm and 30mm both 1.4 and an A7iii as well with a 35mm 1.4 and 50mm 1.8.

Dang you got an awesome setup! I did switch from the a7iii to the S5. Worth it? Idk. I think so, but you could definitely argue it was an unnecessary L on the bank account since the a7iii is really solid. But yeah for me there was an element of wanting to one day get to an s1h

@@jakefelzien yeah I like both my cameras but I’m really missing the flippy screen lol! Thinking that s1h might get me with the crazy good build, full frame, flippy screen, crazy good ibis, great battery life too! There are so many good cameras out there right now. I guess it’s a good problem to have hahaha

Deciding between this lens and the Sigma 20mm. :/

whats your reason for buying one or the other? i.e. what are you hoping to shoot with a wide prime? i'll try to help

@@jakefelzien I'm moving from m43 and on m43 I always used the Panasonic 7-14mm. On my S5 I'm missing a wide angle. I want a light wide lens. I mostly take pictures, but want to try video. I thought about the Panasonic 16-35mm, but don't know about the 500 grams. On m43 I did have the 12mm F2 and I liked it! I feel like I'm always between 16-24mm. :)
