I just attached my Rode Pro Shotgun Mic to the Camcorder, though I am not sure how to turn off (or at least decrease) the camera’s built-in audio so that the Rode is independently working. Thank you for your help!

When I put on a XLR Shotgun Microphone it’s makes a weird hissing sound in the background? Is there’s any suggestions on how to fix it?

Hello - I'm using two wireless lav mics (that are fed into a receiver and plugged into the XLR) but am only getting sound in one ear. Can you help me? I only need them on one channel, nothing hugely professional. It's for an acting class. thank you!

You cannot have multiple mics transmitting to a single receiver (unless the receiver is a multi-channel receiver). It is always 1-1. So 2 mics would require 2 separate receivers and sets of frequencies (or 2 separate outs in the case of a multi-channel receiver), each connected to one of the two XLR inputs. Depending on the monitoring settings you might be able to select which channel you wish to hear on both L/R (if 1 mic you'd just assign that input to both channels). Don't worry about that; it is easily resolved in post (example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hudTLs1PGPM.html )

how do we need to give left and right of the stereo mix from the mixer to input2 of the camera?

My Debra 2 wireless mics have a TRS jack female output port. The "to camera" cable is TRS male to TRS male. My UX-90 has female XLR ports. So I bought a TRS male to XLR male splitter cable. It will work on one XLR input port but not both ports. How can I use a wireless 2 mic system? Both mics set to same channel or should they be set to different channels? Or one receiver for each mic input port?

Only a dual receiver will work in that case and you'll either have 2 XLRs from it or it'll feature a digital slot-in connection (which this camera doesn't support). All wireless mics need to be 1-1 with their pairing (transmitter to receiver). That's why in motion pictures there is a location sound dept that is mixing and handling all of the wireless on set and either combining that or capturing as a multi-track recording for later sync and post work. In this case you would need 2 receivers and 2 mics tuned to different frequencies. Each receiver would then be connected to its own XLR input on the recording device/camera.

@@theAVcoach in fact I got it to work. The cable from the wireless receiver is a TRS male to XLR male splitter cable. It splits into 2 XLR males. One XLR male to each mic port on the camera. When I put one transmitter on ch 16 and the other on ch 19 everything worked. Mic #2 volume was slightly lower so I adjusted that on the camera. When I had both mics on the same channel the sound was terrible.

@@mophotodetroit Sweet - yeah if it is a splitter and the unit can receive and output both separately you should be good to go then; glad that worked!

The test will be April 19th. I’m filming a kickboxing event at Motor City Casino. Normally I’m a ring photographer at pro boxing. Cross your fingers for me.

I am convinced that having the 2 transmitters use 2 different channels was the fix. One on channel 16 and the other channel 19. Before I had each on channel 15. That caused a problem. After separating the channels the receiver or the camera figured out what was going on and sent one signal to mic input port #1 and the other mic input port #2.

I am still having trouble hocking up a lavalier mic to the camera. When I try it I cut out the microphone that is attached to the camera . Could you explain more on how to do it?
@horisontial
@horisontial 4 года назад
wireless or corded? a battery powered wireless lavalier won't care if it's on Mic or +48 but a corded will need 48. At least my sennheiser ones do. I hope you found out long ago :p

@@geRswAgencia I don't see why it would not work. If you are also recording the internal on channel 1, you might not hear channel 2 if your lavalier is recording in it. But nevertheless you should be able to see if it takes on the display. But I cannot say for certain that the XLR to minijack adapter is not the problem. Maybe it only takes XLR mics.

What shotgun mic did you use on the camera in this video?
@theAVcoach
@theAVcoach 3 года назад
It is the Azden SGM-PDII but you could also probably look at the Audio-Technica AT875R; both are budget-friendly and around the same price. Just check with your dealer to ensure that whatever you select will fit in the on-board mic holder (sometimes they can be a bit smaller and slide through, requiring you to build up their physical size which is not ideal). Panasonic also makes the AG-MC200G which you might want to look into.
