Panasonic G7 Walkthrough

This video is going over the Panasonic G7 with the kit lens.
This is to help those who have just purchased the G7 learn their way around the camera body. The more you know, the less you will feel intimidated with the available features and settings!
If you have any questions I did not answer, please let me know in the comments below!
CORRECTION: At 2:14 I say that you can charge in body which is INCORRECT. This is unfortunately one of the only Panasonic cameras that instead of a USB charging/transfer port, it is an AV port. -_-
I apologize for my mistake, I am only human after all! :)

I just got a LUMIX DMC-G7K. This is by far and away one of the most informative videos out there. When I unboxed it and looked at ALL the buttons, dials, symbols and settings, I thought wTf ?!! Your video really made this camera simple to understand. I started shooting photos waaaay back in the sixties with a 35mm Cannon. You explained all the bells and whistles in a clear, concise and understandable video. Thank you very much for such a great video. Just what I looking for !! I'm off to check out your other videos !!

This is really good and straight to the point. I'm actually an old school nikon fm10 manual camera user and this is my second micro 4/3 camera, my first being the epl-5. I have to say i was fairly overwhelmed by all the buttons and menus and submenus on the epl-5. With the G7 and especially after this video, I really feel like I completely understand this camera, like really. I think I could tutor someone else, that's how confident I am now. It's almost like this video helped contextualize all the other reading I'd done in manuals for the epl-5 and the g7. Everything just clicked.

@Shutterbug101
@Shutterbug101 4 года назад
For 4K video, I would shoot at the highest option which is 30p. This will give you a cinematic look but also keep in mind because it’s only 30 frames, you will need to move your camera slowly and smoothly as to not miss any frames in between movements.

Thanks for this really useful information, I really liked it, and wondered how it was done. I do however have some comments to make. I currently have the following counts. PWRCNT 218 SHTCNT 1678 STBCNT 8 I have not long had my camera and I have 218 in the PWRCNT. The very fist day I had it I turned on Electronic shutter only, before I had even take a shot but still have 1678 so I think it records all shutter actuations both electronic and mechanical. Finally the STBCNT can not be strobe as I have never fired it and still have a count of 8. I belive STBCNT stands for STandBy CouNT which makes more sense to me. I hope this helps. Once again thanks for taking the time to share this information.

well, it works I got mine at a good deal, on eBay; I had to buy it the Panasonic Lumix G7 Mirrorless Camera with 14-42mm Lens and Accessories Kit (Black); I got this device on 7-22-23; right; from the start it works that's all I can say sir-mam furthermore, I was going to get the G85, G95 by Lumix; but the G7 was my first choice in the beginning search for a camera; so went back to the G7; based on its not that much major difference in those cameras; the image quality (sensors) is excellent, good; the kit lens, well it was little better that I thought it was going to be however; I'm still looking for a prime lens; certain 1 star reviews were good, before I had bought it and the RU-vid videos are good tips; I dry run some videos in the Windy City of Ill, and it works real good; but the flash for taking pictures, as so stated in videos is tricky to turn on, and off; and the Wi-fi so far is not working on it in terms of details; again the camera works; good; that's all can say sir-mam for right now; I'm still dry running it; another good thing that was a surprise the audio sound is good; but the thing is its so sensitive that it picks up the clicking sound of the camera adjustment, like the clicking of the shutter etc; I recommend buy the it the device is good; yea; sir-mam

Hello Ms Shutterbug, great video! You mentioned you would be doing a detailed video on AFS/AFF AFC , have you done that yet ? Specifically I am interested in learning how to use these different settings and when is the best time to use them while shooting video. Also, how does the AF/AE lock button work? ....Also I’m confused, because in settings I have Continuous AF on, but when I go to shoot video, the display mode screen has a readout that says AF off with an icon of a finger touching a square bullseye . FYI; I have the button on the outside of the camera selected to AFS/AFF. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated !

Hi there viewers! Thank you for watching. Here is the link for the focus modes and areas: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0ajF1YRfA2s.html When it comes to the AF/AE lock button, that allows you to lock in the lighting that you want in a specific area, like a backlit subject or making the subject a silhouette. More about metering in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XZyK7Yp0Wpo.html As for your video focus, you will want to set your switch to AFC, and if you have your focusing mode on tracking, it wants you to touch the screen where you want it to track in the frame to lock the focus. Hope this helps!

@Shutterbug101 3 года назад
John Garuti, Realtor I would be sure to have a good lighting setup and take advantage of your aperture video mode and open it up enough to let the light in, but not too much to where it is overblown, around the f/2.8-3.5 Mark. Set your ISO between 100 and 800 on auto and you should be good to go!

Hi. Thank you for this. So informative. Can I ask how can I take photos with not much blur.
@Shutterbug101
@Shutterbug101 3 года назад
Great question! If your photos are blurry, you need the camera to take a faster photo! This is where your shutter speed mode can help! Use the S mode and use the minimum 1/500 to however fast it can go (I think 1/4000 or 1/8000). The higher the number the faster the photo, so it will depend on how fast you or your subject is moving. I would set your ISO to auto until you can master your shutter speed and aperture. :)
