The initial checkout of a set of Panasonic DECT 6 Plus cordless phones model KX-TGF570. The telephones feature a digital answering machine, talking callerID, and Bluetooth connectivity.
Great video. I've always wondered why Panasonic prefixes all of their model numbers with "KX". We used to use KX-HDV230 until we got our Cisco phones working flawlessly. Panasonic makes a good product, that's for sure.
Thanks. I'm not sure what the KX abbreviates, if anything. For the longest time it was always KX-TG, now recently I've noticed they're changing the second set of letters sometimes.
@@JordanU Oh, the second two or three letters denote the product line. For example, KX-DT means digital telephone, KX-HDV is high definition voice, etc.
It was KX-TC in the 900MHz era, then KX-TG in the US and KX-TCD in foreign areas. Then KX-TG everywhere, and now KX-TGx, where x represents a third letter based on the features of the model. KX-TGB: Basic (not in US) UPDATE: Now in US starting with 2020 models KX-TGC: Basic with speakerphone KX-TGD: Mostly same as KX-TGC KX-TGE: Mid-range model with the latest features KX-TGF: KX-TGE features + base menu/corded base There are also special models which use a different third letter, and designer models which are KX-PR and a third letter + 3-digit model.
@@techwithtyler20 Do you know what KX stands for? Panasonic has always used that. I would have assumed that "PS" would have been a better brand prefix.
An important feature on this one which you probably didn't notice when scrolling through the settings was Power Failure, which allows you to set the handset to power the base when it loses power. The base operates in a feature-limited mode without answering system, Bluetooth, Automated Call Block (models newer than this), talking CID, and base buttons. Because the group names of 1-3 change during this mode, you cannot make changes to the phonebook. The KX-TG6641 and 6841 have the same feature. Most of the newer phones do.
Jordan U That’s normal as the handset hasn’t detected out-of-range yet. You can call back or wait for a callback once the handset starts supplying power.
@@techwithtyler20 I know it's normal operation, but that to me makes the feature worthless. The call is already interrupted, I might as well just call back from a corded phone.
Jordan U Panasonic’s latest models, KX-TGF850 and 880 series, allow you to insert batteries in the corded base. When the power goes out, it immediately switches to battery without any drops or loss in features. Your KX-TGM430 also has this. It’s basically the KX-TCA230 backup power supply but built-in.
Thanx so much for the tutorial! We are not tech-savvy, and have been living with the default settings ever since it's purchase a few years ago. We have not figured out even the most basic of function; e.g., how to turn on voice mail messaging (currently callers cannot leave a message). Once we figure that out, we would like to hear the message being left in real-time--but first things first. Any pointers would be appreciated!--thanks!! -Cath.
When you answered the message alert call on the testing phone and it hung up, the phone still said Line in Use, which makes me think the simulator is somewhat broken. It seemed like the testing phone was acting as an extension phone on the end where the Panasonic was connected instead of a second POTS line.
The reason the phone is having so many issues is because you bought it used and some people that used it were probably messing with the settings a little. and that they didn’t know what some of the settings were.
I have a question after we used the panasonic phone it okay put on the charger or does leaving on the charger all the time shortrn the life of batteries
One of my phones was left outside in the rain and is ready to be trashed because it won't power up. I bought a replacement phone, but it won't allow me to add the phone, It gives me a no power at base message. Obviously, there is power at the base because all the other phones work. I might be able to solve my problem by deregistering all the phones and registering all the phones again. However, there appears to be no way to deregister a phone without having a working phone. I need to know how to deregister a phone at the base (without using a handset), but can find no instructions anywhere on how to accomplish this task. Thank you.
Have this set for 18 months. In general like them - but one annying feature I have not figured out. How do you get this unit to captue and playback the recording date/time when a message is left on the machine? Occassionally mine will play back audibly the date/time, but not consistently. And it certainly doesn't display it during play back. Pretty useless to have a message and not know when it was left. You (or at least I) have to listen, then go to the caller list and compare inbound calls to figure out when the message was left. Even in your demos of recorded messages, it never provides an audio (ordigital) date/time stamp. Any ideas?
Is the time set? The time also displays on the base and all handsets and is needed if you want to use the alarm and/or silent mode. When power goes out, as long as handset 1 has power, that handset will keep the time and send it out to the base when power is restored or power backup starts. Messages that are received while the time is set will be time-stamped, and existing time stamps won't be affected if the time is lost.
I'm more impressed by the earlier models, relatively speaking to the rest of the technology available, they were far more of a feat than these are now.
@@JordanU In terms of features, the older ones did have some the newer ones don't have. There were only a few Panasonic models in 2013/14 that had a color display, for example, while several older models from 2005-2006 had them. The memo feature used to be standard on any Panasonic base that has a keypad, but as of 2012 (KX-TG47xx and 77xx), the memo feature no longer exists.
I have one landline, but I only have 3 phones that can be connected. If I purchase a 4 handset cordless, do I have to use all 4 phones or can I just use 3?
Can I use this phone overseas? Will it work in Portugal? I know I need to buy the adapter. But will I be able to make calls in Portugal using this phone?
You can also try a portable solution such as MagicJack, or use it on Cell Line Only Mode, if it doesn't work on Portugal's lines. The Bluetooth ones like this are very nice to travel with because you can use a landline where you can, Cell Line Only Mode where you can't. On the newer ones, if that mode is on, it will actually turn on/off based on whether or not there's a line connected.
Great phones, I just replaced my previous set for a new one model # KX-TG994SK; oddly, the battery life is horrible already. I fully charged all four and already 2 of them gave an audible low batts. Might have to return and replace. Seems Panasonic's website doesn't have a way to send them a question. Holy crap 45 minute video??? I couldn't bare it after a few minutes. Back to my sailing vids!
@@JordanU hmmm. Good idea. Just looked up some phones... VTech is rated well too. Panasonic yeah, 79.00 was too good to be true maybe. 4 handsets, a base, multiple chargers and all the tech bells and whistles for such little money.
@@drew6116 Vtech and AT&T come out of the same factory. Historically AT&T was regarded as the 'higher-end' of the two, I'm not sure if that's still true or not. I've had good experience with Vtech's recent equipment also.
Jordan - I have this phone but lost the manual. Is it possible to set up an audible alert when there is a message waiting. Sorry - I did not watch your entire video. Thanks.
You can set the base to beep twice every minute by pressing MENU #339 on a handset, then turn it on and press SAVE. Here’s the manual: help.panasonic.ca/viewing/ALL/KX-TGF572/OI/TGF572_PNQX8348YA/TGF572_PNQX8348YA.pdf
Is this the one you put up with the AC adapter ebay freakshow for? I've noticed that the base screen on these newer Panasonic phones resembles E-Ink from a distance; it has such a nice viewing angle, contrast, and lack of reflection, that it almost looks fake and photoshopped into the video! Perhaps another contributing factor is that it shows so little in the way of information, icons, etc. I think part of what may have happened was you confused it by switching to mains before it released the simulator line, or even switching the lines at all may have confused it, because it's expecting to be using the same line and anything that throws that off it doesn't know how to handle correctly. Either way, that notify feature is brilliant and is probably giving vtech a run for their money. Although I imagine it could get a little annoying when a spam message is recorded, which happens pretty frequently.
I posted the same thing 2 weeks ago actually! Switching the line causes a brief disconnect, and, since the mains wasn't off-hook until it was switched, a dial tone. The set must remain on the same line throughout the entire message in order for the notification to work. You can block spam calls on these sets.
4:05 For some reason, the handset, not the battery, stores the battery level, so it will report that same level even if you put batteries that in reality have a low level in it. It would be much better if it worked like cell phones and laptops where the battery stored the level. This design can sometimes cause the opposite--full batteries but the handset says low, which means charging them will cause them to spoil. If the handset has trouble operating off of the batteries inserted, it will eventually recognize they are indeed low and the alert will go off.
@@JordanU I do think that's how it works, especially since my 5.8s have had spoiled batteries simply because if the battery is left out, put back in, and charged, it would try to charge a full battery that it thinks is low.
I am having trouble transferring my cell phone address book to this system. I have the link2cell all set up properly. I have searched and haven't found any cases that have a solution. any ideas?
Try disconnecting all other Bluetooth devices from your cell phone and try again. If prompted to use the cell to transfer, transfer the desired contacts in the same way you would send files to a Bluetooth device. You may need to export the contacts as a file first. You might’ve denied the PBAP or OPP Bluetooth profile requests. Try checking the device settings for Panasonic DECT.
Not sure, I've transferred the contacts on several different models with no trouble. I have an old basic cell phone, I don't know how reliable it works with newer phones.
I have a question and it seems Panasonic doesn't take questions!! I have this phone (KX-TGF570) and I think I might have inadvertently blocked a friend's ph# and then when I erased a whole batch of #'s, hers was included and so did I lose it permanently? . Is there a way to get it un-blocked? Every time she tries to call me she gets " this number is not accepting calls at this time" Does this mean I DID erase her number? and how to fix please
Press Call Block and check the single number (block full phone numbers) and range of numbers (block phone numbers that begin with certain area codes/prefixes) lists. If there's a number on there you don't want blocked, press ERASE to unblock it.
@@techwithtyler20 I understand how to do that, but I have so many ph#'s being blocked but I'm trying to find a number that I might have blocked that I didn't want to block and I can't find it listed because there are so many numbers to go through. Isn't there a way to put in a number and see if it's in the Call Block section?
@@user-auntiemo2u Totally overlooked the number not accepting calls message--it sounds like you have some numbers being blocked by your provider. Check your provider settings/block list (e.g. *60 for XFINITY's call block list).
@@techwithtyler20 I DID check call block first but couldn't find her number there unless I erased it unknowingly when I erased a lot of numbers about 2 months ago - so now what? If I can't find it listed any longer is there any way to get it back to "unblock" ?
@@techwithtyler20 where can I find Provider settings/block list? if that's the same as call block list that I do then I already went through all of them and can not find her number unless I erroneously erased her number when I erased a whole bunch of numbers about 6 months ago...any way to get her number un-blocked now if it doesn't show up any more?
@@techwithtyler20 Great, I went ahead with the purchase. I'm really grateful for you two-you've helped me a lot when it comes to choosing a new system for my landline!
They seem to alternate between the set seen in this video, and the set containing the classic number 1 ringtone. In addition to the KX-TGDA50/51/52, it's also seen on: Newer KX-TGEA20 KX-TGEA40 KX-TGEA60/61 KX-TGFA20 KX-TGFA61 KX-TGLA40
It either is through your Bluetooth of cell phone, pre-installed recognized numbers you have entered and serviced through a sim card converter box, or it is an active caller ID with a paid voice over IP service provider that supports this model (not sure what that would be)
Great video of the Panasonic KX-TGF570 DECT 6 Plus Cordless Telephone Set of 5, the Jordan! Sorry, I haven't been able to comment on your vids in a few days. My birthday is coming up soon so would you like to do one for me?
@@JordanU - Well... I wanted you to record the testing message into my digital (digitan) answering machine, which is the Uniden DCT648-3. Here's the message: "Hello, the Aaron, this is the Jordan speaking to your digital (digitan) answering system from the AT&T TR1909. It is working correctly. Also, happy birthday. GOOSE! Onomatopoeia!" That's what you needed to do for me. Since the answering machine can record up to a minute unfortunately, might want to say the message as quick as you can laugh out loud!
@@claytonhummel8244 There usually isn’t a “coiling” spot unless you’re wall mounting, but there’s usually a hook to keep the cord secure and out of the way.
21:54 Switching over to the outside line causes a brief disconnect in the line connection to this phone, which will cancel the message alert call. I have no idea why it didn’t work on the simulator; maybe try testing with each of the simulator’s modes.
I have no idea why the reset procedures aren't documented in the actual manual. In Panasonic's case it's in the service manual. On this phone, press 1, 5, 9, star, on a handset to reset that handset and the base. Then remove and reinsert the batteries.
Uniden has always been my favorite, although this particular model I've become very fond of and is working it's way up the list of newer phones I like.
LOL house phone? how about a wireless all orignial Western Electric rotor dial desk telephone UPGRADED with Bluetooth inside? I found it while poking around on ebay and here is how I found it, search ' western electric bouetooth '
I HAVE USED THESE PHONES FOR YEARS AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THESE PHONES EVER. I WILL USE NO OTHER PHONE. YOU WILL NOT GO WRONG WITH ANY OF THESE PHONES.
ya and it gets better, did you see this? hop on ebay and search ' western electric bouetooth ' Inside the old school desk telephone is a bouetooth circuit a battery pack and the desk telephone will pair to you cell phone. Oh and the desk telephone works just like it did when it was made many years ago. It makes calls recives calls [original ringer starts working, not a recording but the REAL THING!] You even hear dial tone too!
@@jimtalor7971 Try pressing MENU #226 and change the setting to Manual. This will prevent the caller ID from messing up the time. If the base loses power, handset 1 will keep the time until it runs out of charge, in which case you'll have to set it again.
I do not like Panasonic. Ringtones are irritating and we should have many more options. Many models messing around with intercom encryption so the Gov can monitor your intercom function.
@@danrichardson4275 The government can decrypt a DECT transmission, so can the technically inclined consumer that understands how it works. I refuse to believe the government goes around and waits outside people's houses with a scanner, hoping they'll make an intercom call with their cordless phone and reveal some sort of secret information the NSA is looking for. Even the thought of that is absurd.
@@JordanU Well, i guess that verifies my concern that you have not studied before commenting. I have personally observed Gov and Police Departments parked outside residences monitoring encrypted phones and computer WIFI. But our initial conversation was DECT and it looks as if you changed your initial comment. The Gov also has drones and satellites which also monitor DECT and phones. Welcome to "Big Brother". By the way, I am one of the few who saw the original movie "Big Brother" before the Gov destroyed all copies.
I HATE THE 5 HANDSETS, THESE PHONES ARE NOT USER FRIENDLY. GET OUT YOUR MANUAL AND STUDY OR YOU'LL NEVER FIGURE IT OUT. WILL BE DONATING THESE AND HOPING SOMEONE MAKES A USER FRIENDLY PORTABLE. tERRIBLE BATTERY TOO
