I own the S1H and it's a complete BEAST!!! The 5.9K 10-bit V-Log footage is AWESOME!!!

Soon the S1H will be able to output RAW to an external recorder. That's going to be wild. Also the S1H is now Netflix compliance.

This is a dream. I love how the gh5 has taught me to adapt to shoot at flatter apertures and create depth in other ways as well as teaching me the importance of lighting. But now that I've experienced this, I am ready for a full frame sensor with an iso that can handle natural night lighting. Sadly, won't be able to justify a new camera for quite some time and will need to look into renting for those specific projects. Great review and I'll definitely need to check out 72 fps, after all you're the one that got me stuck on 90 fps a year or so ago

FINALLY!!! This is my dream camera and checks literary every box I have, but no one is buying it and there aren’t many reviews/videos out there covering this amazing camera. I’m surprised not many RU-vidrs are coping it for how many features it have (essentially a Varicam the size of a DSLR) but it does come with a hefty price tag. Glad you decided to try it out and make a video over it.

I purchased the S1H as my first camera, there are so many options idk where to start!

I NEED this camera! The storage capability is a game changer... Not having to buy an expensive SSD or CFAST is EVERYTHING! I'm a huge fan of my GH4, so I'll probably stick with this, especially with your "It's like a GH5 on steroids" comment lol $OLD!

Even this late in the Game, I will be picking up an S1H for a big job I'm shooting next Month.

Good morning YC... I am glad you're a person who is willing to learn more than what's already in your head ,like many shooters.I am primarily a street shooter here in NYC.I shot with my Sony A580 SLT,for years and then i had a mishap when my son walked next to it,brushed against the strap,and the camera hit the floor..done...Next i borrowed a REbel and used that home and in MD,and grabbed some great shots from my friends' son,who posed for me.Now I shoot full frame,and I always just shoot.I shot with the Sony,did some spontaneous videos out in Central Park,and I used one body,one lens,as I do now.See,I would love more glass,another flash,and other lighting,yet it's way more important to shoot.By the time we wait to get what we want,we lost time and opportunity not taking advantage of what we already have. This is exactly why i have issues with a lot of so called RU-vid content creators,because many of them focus on specs,gear,and comparisons,and they dont own nor really use the gear.They dont rent,they dont use the option of returning gear,and instead they ignore the obvious crippling pitfalls,and then try to convince others by defending it's shortcomings.In other words,i have looked at the Panasonic S1,and it's solid,nice and big,and it's got some serious potential.Point being,we should never get something we have to apologize for nor defend,we should ONLY have what we NEED.If we cannot work with less and make incredible work,it wont get better by sending more money on more gear/glass.I learned so much without a tripod,flashes,and multiple lenses,and on the streets,if you have skills and learn the pulse of the people,you will find human subjects as well as objects,ready and waiting for history to be made.

Thanks Chrys for this dope video. I had the chance to use an S1H for a music video before the camera was released and man the image coming out of that camera is simply mind-blowing for the size and price. We shoot everything handheld and some gimbal work, but the IBIS was just crazy good with the native 24-105. I am now really thinking of selling my FS5 to get it but I invested too much into sony lenses to make the switch ahahah the life struggle of a DP.

As for the cam...I want one no doubt about it...I want two really. But I won't wait to make stuff...I'll just keep on keeping on until I can grab them up. I'm in love with that camera straight up!

I would stick with the pocket 6k unless a person don't mind switching to a new lens system. But this is a dope camera no doubt. And being able to film str8 out the box is a plus. It's no excuse not being able to create good projects in this generation.

Your recording footage was fire as usual, but question, what computer are you using to edit this 6K footage and your regular work and do you get glitches while editing?

Looks great but I'm cool with my Sony A73, I haven't even mastered that yet and I believe you need to master what you have before you spend money on new.

this camera is awesome! i've been a big fan of panasonic, my first real camera was the g7, and i use it still, it's awesome. panasonic has always packed so many features into their cameras, for a lower price point, it's amazing! the s1h is quite expensive, but it has a lot to offer for it, and it's a cheap (but capable) cinema camera, rather than an expensive mirrorless (even tho the form factor is exactly that). this is a really cool video, showing what it looks like to just rent the camera and use it without going deep into it, it's amazing what it can do in the hands of a professional

If someone could accurately combine the GH5, 1DX 2 and A7III Full frame 120, ibis, flip out screen, sd, 4K 60, great colors, and amazing autofocus- Buying this as soon as whichever company releases it! S1H seems the closest, but man Canon’s autofocus and colors are just so much better IMO

This looks amazing! As you said it's really up to you if you wanna buy the black magic or the S1H, but the thing is that the Black Magic is about 2.5k€ for the body, which is cheaper than the S1H. But still, I can't afford either of these lol Loving your videos btw, I discovered you on a video to focus while using a gimbal, and since then I'ven been eating your vids like they are Oreos! I used my gimbal and my Panasonic G7 for the first time and made a video to promote school year sweatshirts, and thanks to your tips they all said it was amazing, even most teachers congratulated me which feels amazing since it was my first time! Thank you so much for all the videos that you make, it is helping me a lot to learn quickly, as I am not a student in video or something like that (engineering)! I am also considering to upgrade in 2-3 years, but I don't know if in 2-3 years I should make the jump to a 6K cam or if a 4K cam like the gh5 will be enough. But until then and as you said, I'm gonna do more stuff and test new things rather than waiting to have the perfect gear. Huge Thank you again!

Back to panasonic. Welcome. I bought s1 after gh5.

P4K/P6K has BRAW + Resolve + SSD for storage saving money. S1H has IBS, AF, takes photos. If you do RU-vid/Travel and don't like downtime, S1H. If you want to finesse your image and deliver something special, P4K/P6K.

I was trying to wait for it when it was first coming out but had my first music video scheduled and I purchased the GH5S... Then only a week later it came out and I've been wanting it so bad... I love the full frame look and the capabilities that this camera has. SOME DAY!

Dope video YC! Panasonic absolutely killed it with the S1h... As badly as I want it, something tells me that the next m43 flagship they release ('GH6'?) will be essentially a smaller sensor version of the S1h; they'd be shortchanging us, their loyal core customer if not, IMO. So before painfully scraping together the amount $$$ required to get nicely into this system (Body and 2 or 3 lenses) I'll stick with my GH4 & G9 in anticipation of what their next major m43 release will offer since I'm kitted out with m43 glass already.

This is odd but the way you say “Fire” is so satisfying 🔥 it needs to be on a soundboard for radio or a podcast.

Sold my Panasonic lx and bought a Fuji xt30 and wow, What an improvement! The new sensor and eye tracking is super dope! BUT😨 PROBLEM since I want to multicam shoots of my gigs and eventually a mini documentary I thought I was gonna do a another Fuji camera BUT, I am throughly blown away with how gorgeous the S1h footage looks! Guess I Gotta find 4 Grand!!!!!!!👊🏽😡👍🏾

The S1H when it comes to low light looks exactly like the GH5s. The quality of the camera is clean just like the Gh5s but it's doesn't have the milky film look due to the full frame sensor. Looking at this footage it looks like the A7sii sharpness but the color is superb on the S1H. The focusing has the same contrast focusing technology. I'm still trying to see what's the sell.

The S1H is a phenomenal film camera, but as you said people worry about the perfect set up instead of creating, your content doesnt need 6k 60p it probably doesnt even need 4k 60p it is nice to have but what is more important is having a camera that can capture what you want in at least HD. Practice see what you need for your style and look, then upgrade from there. Most people know what they need this camera for but the general creator does not need this. I have been so guilty of wasting money on gear to find that I didnt create with it and I also didnt need it, another lens for example would of benefitted more

Solid camera! I got to test one out thanks to Panasonic, and I was blown away! Honestly it was GH5s on steroids! The menu options were pretty overwhelming though- probably my only gripe.

I soooo wish the 4k could do 120fps. But it is Netflix certified. I'm still interested in the zcam series. This current round of cameras are so good from every manufacturer.

The S1H is the best hybrid camera I used so far. I don't think you can compare the S1H to the Bmpcc6k because they are for 2 different users. Both cameras are beasts.
