Lanette from Life Maid Easy tells Sonoran Living Live, why the Panasonic Platinum is a better vacuum than the much more expensive Oreck. Learn more about us at www.lifemaideasy.us
Oreck is the only vacuum I've ever owned that picks up long pet hair without the brush getting clogged. One swipe over the carpet and all pet hair is gone and up in the bag. I LOVE my Oreck and have had it for 10 years and it still works as good as it did when I first bought it. Very lightweight as well.
I don't have the Easy Vac anymore, I got the Bissell Momentum. I was rather going to get the Oreck fixed or buy a good quality vacuum. I chose to buy the good quality vacuum and it picks up a lot better than just about every vacuum I've ever used, except for my aunt's Bissell Lift Off. I want to get the Lift Off if I get married and use it downstairs.
I have low-pile carpets. Have an 18-year old oreck and it has never let me down. I’ve run other vacuums over it, but they all get barely pick stuff up- if any. 3 orecks and a Dyson v11. I’ve bever been happier
You are correct about the other makes being Panasonic copies, EXCEPT for the Hoover's. Panasonic actually bought the rights for the design of the Hoover Dial-A-Matic, & improved it substantially.
I agree with LifeMaidEasy..these Panasonic uprights & their Kenmore equivalents are 1 of the best clean-air uprights you can buy. HOWEVER, the Sanitaire in that video or a Royal Metal Upright would kick it's butt. Why? Direct-air uprights don't lose their power as quick, since there's no dirt-filled bag pressing against the air vent in the bag compartment, which makes it hard for air to get through & create airflow. Because of that, a direct-air vacuum's bag can be filled all the way to the top.
@panaclean775 MC-V5209, and also the PANASONIC PERF. PLUS PLAT TRIFORCE is really good. But mostly MC-V5209. They may have a newer model number now. It has been a while since I have last ordered as they have held up so well.
Panasonic has different models and the new ones out now are different than the ones shown in my videos. You would need to see a dealer or go online to see which models have that feature of turning the brush roller off (beater bar). I have some models that do, and some do not. I am no longer selling vacuums as I sold that part of the business. I am strickly a maid service now. We use the newer Panasonic models. Some improvements and some not so great, but overall, still a great vacuum!
I like Panasonics, myself, but it seems like they are being fazed out. I have been tinkering with vacuum cleaners since I was a kid, and have been repairing them since about 2009. I own two Kirbys (one from 1959 and one from 2005) and a Royal all-metal upright. If you are interested, I recommend giving the Hoover Hushtone Commercial CH54013 a try. It is made in the USA, it has onboard tools and can be used on both carpets and hard surfaces.
Back when Panasonic and Sanitaire vacuums were like a huge seller in vacuum stores. If vacuum stores had store brought brands, even they were still good quality. I can tell this vacuum store actually cares about their customers. It sucks now that all of the good brands have gone to Chinese made now. I don’t think vacuum stores like dealing with crappy Walmart machines. At least some vacuum stores can sell you a refurbished classic vacuum for a good deal.
Panasonic made Sears vacuum cleaners for decades and they were excellent machines. You could buy them for 200-400 dollars. They were about as good as the riccar vaccums. Now Panasonic doesn't make vacuums anymore and Sears is gone. These same vacuum cleaners are 1000-1500 dollars. You never know what you had til it's gone
Very true, Jedi725. But, the Sanitaire & Royal are more comparable to the Panasonic/Kenmore uprights, as the Kirby's are much heavier & pre-1990 models are harder to push. Plus the Royal doesn't need a self-propelled transmission to break, & no head to remove just to use the hose & tools.
Actually beater bars are really useless to have. They do very little or nothing to clean carpets better. In fact beater bars do a horrible job on pet hair. I've noticed a difference between a vibra groomer i and vibra groomer ii brushroll. You don't need beater bars to have more agitation.
THis is crap. If you notice. The bag on the Oreck never inflates. They do not have the Oreck working properly. They might not even have a bag in the vacuum. What a crock.
It's not less expensive the newest version of that Oreck which is the Oreck Elevate Control can be purchased brand new for $199.99. Oreck vacuums are not super expensive like they use to be. However the Panasonic probably cleans better. But is for sure heavier.
I used to say the same thing. I have a 2006 Oreck XL-21 and a 2008 Bissell Easy Vac. My Bissell picks up a lot better than the Oreck. The Oreck was my grandma's when she was alive and it means a lot to me. I inherited it, but it's only used as a spare vacuum. The Oreck started to act up, so she bought to PowerGroom Pet Compact, because I've always told her about how great Bissell is.
My neighbor has an oreck. Its a white canister model. She bought it 3 yrs ago. Funny we were just talking about it yesterday while I replaced her wiper blades on her car. Its been sitting on her car port for over 2 months. It took a shit and she was so glad because it wouldnt pick up anything. Said it was never worth having. "Got screwed on it" were her words. She's the second oreck owner I knew thats said this...There junk!
@nate44134 - You have a 1975 Kirby? Did you buy it from the salesman that came to your door back when milk was delivered? I have used Kirbys. Yes, they can suck China through your carpet and pad. But they are heavy, clunky, and stiff and the stainless steel machinery is like pushing a 1980 Ford LTD around your house. Try lugging that up and down your stairs. My mom had one. I hated it. Great if you want to build biceps. Will probably last a 1000 years. Noisy. Still love Panasonics!
Take your vac to a shop who owns a vacuum suck tester. Make sure you watch the test. Be prepaired to be very pissed off. Dyson has done a fantastic job of advertising. Dysons have short life spans too. Everyone I know that bought a dyson in the last 8 yrs has replaced it with something new. Mean while our panasonic has never seen a shop once. The Premium levels last decades.
the cheaper orecks usually arent that great overall, such as the oreck XL series, not all that great compared to many other vacuums on the market, so it would have been better to test something like a riccar.
Why do they keep saying suction. I don't like it when people think that suction cleans the carpet its air flow. Air flow clean carpet and so does agitation. Those two thing have been around since vacuums were first made. That sanitaire can out clean both the oreck and Panasonic and it only 100 dollars. Way less then both of the other vacuum. Sanitaire,Kirby,Royal,Riccar are the best vacuum out their
filter queen isn't a terrible machine it does work as advertised but it has so many different filters to keep up and change every so often and dumping it like a shop vac outside or in the garage? no thanks...
Oh, and for the guy that said Panasonic is out of business....Ya, SURE they're out of business. Check the Dyson DC33 upright & the DC21 Stowaway canister. They BOTH use Panasonic motors. Next time know what you're talking about before stating your opinion on RU-vid! And another thing....the Panasonic design is one of the most copied upright designs EVER! Hoover invented clean-air uprights but Panasonic perfected it, & other clean-air bag uprights owe thanks to them for the basic design.
I rlly dont care for the Panasonic Vaccum. I rather go with the Oreck Because it doesnt have a Filter and it has a Bigger Bag And for my Opinion it has better suction
That is false, Oreck has much weaker suction cause it's a direct air vacuum. Also the outer bag is a filter which you do need to have. Not everything can be trapped in the paper bag.
It's FUNNY they didn't mention ANYTHING about warranty. If you are looking for a vacuum the ORECK MAGNESIUM RS is THE BEST!!! 7 year warrenty and 10 years of free tune up service!!
Not to mention there are some Orecks that were and some still today that are made overseas (Also not to mention that Oreck is currently owned by a Chinese company). Guess I would call a Chinese Oreck an American vacuum still?
LOL' A Recaar is a panasonic knock off....Riccar,Ristenbatt,Sharp,Eureka,Miele', Sunbeam,Simplicity and more all copied the Panasonic but not one ever managed to better its design and not one will outlast the panasonic platinums. Simplicity does have a design like this with two motors. It has a motor for brush another for attachments and its nice. But its twice the price of the most expenesive panasonic.
That is a far more expensive unit. I am not denying that the Riccar tandem-air machines are neat and all, but it is not too comparable to the basic Panasonic models in this video which were well under half the price of such a Riccar. On top of that, I have always enjoyed how light the basic Panasonic models are on top of having decent cleaning performance and long lifespans.
This comparison is unbalanced. Oreck still makes the Classic style vac they use, but my XL21 Oreck feels self-propelled, has HEPA filtration and weighs 30-40% less than the Panasonic! Also, it has a 21 year warranty with 21 free annual services worth over $1000. Panasonic is a good machine, but don't compare their top vac to Oreck's lower-mid level machine.
This is actualy a base model Panasonic. Also, I highly doubt you have spent the last 9 years studying vacuums. How much do you even know about vacuums and the industry?
Point taken on the Pana being a base model and I acknowledge it's a fine machine. But, it doesn't change my initial comment about my Oreck's 21-year warranty & service plus being extremely lightweight. Your vac appears to weigh 16-20 lbs, have a 2-year warranty (5 motor) and one speed switch. Many people will find it perfect for their needs, but others may want/need something lighter and appreciate other features that make Oreck unique. I can't claim your experience in the vacuum field, but I have some experience and know that one size still doesn't fit all. And, I've never met a salesman who doesn't believe their product is the best. No one can fault you for that!
Oreck Fredricksburg, you have a point - for some people, the lightweight Oreck style vacuums are better for their needs. BUT, unfortunately for Oreck, there are MANY brands out there now with 8 lb vacuums that are better, & in the same price range Oreck models sell for. The Riccar & Simplicity 8 lb uprights, in particular, put any Oreck to shame & make them look like a joke, they are THAT superior in comparison.
