In this video, I'll be showing the Panasonic Q Gameboy Player in action using various methods to play Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance games.
Oddly I was watching your wondermega and Hi-saturn navi video and pow a new video :) Very nice collection , I'm on a saturn kick currently myself and love the rarer consoles . Thanks for sharing
Thanks! I have a soft spot for the Sega Saturn. It's a console that had a lot of potential and was never utilized to capitalize on its hardware. The games are getting very expensive as well.
Phatnightmares, Yes it is getting quite expensive and it did have great potential had it been taking fully in the family like the genesis was but...no. I currently use a Rhea in one of my Saturn's(helps that high game cost) and rebuilt the other with a new laser and power supply . It's one of my favorite consoles to play when I pull my head out of the 8-bitters...C64 ,Coleco, NES etc. Thanks again for sharing.
Phatnightmares, Absolutely. They are hard to come by but if you're tenacious enough it'll happen . I think they are going on sale again soon. I've personally not experienced any incompatibilities nor problem of any kind . I 3D printed the cage/casing to go around it and it looks quite good . I'm considering a GDemu also but (beat me down for saying LoL) I didn't get into the Dreamcast as much . I finally have a PSIO coming also , I just hope to have the same experience with it as the Rhea has been a joy.
Why do I not get the GBI.dol Parameters menu? Mine simply boots into the game at a blown up resolution that's interlaced. Not option to force the game into 240 in the regular GBI setting. Any advice?
I can't compare it to other options, but it's actually runs games pretty well. I feel the issues lie within Swiss itself, which by the time of me writing this, game performance has significantly improved and most if not all issues have been ironed out.
You could push and hold start button for a hile when in gbc/gba X button menu to reset your Swiss disc BTW, great video and BVM monitor,GBI is great, but the offical gbp software is awful as it works with frameskip
I have the exact same setup myself. Panasonic Q with GBA player with component cables on a BVM D24. Cost a pretty penny indeed but it's a fantastic way to play these games. On 480p it's so sharp I find that zooming with the GBI software to fit the screen on the BVM (vertically) still looks great so I prefer playing most games that way. Lol I wonder how many people in the world have a setup like this. Probably only a handful at most. I have a viper chip in the Q as well to make it region free since I'm in PAL territory. and switched to English Bios permanently. I have been thinking of putting SD Load as a plugin on there so I don't need the action replay disc anymore. It won't read burned games now and I have been told I need to tweak the laser but I don't think I will bother because of how valuable the console is. I need it to read a disc with the SD Load software to install it though...
Wow it's not everyday I hear that someone has the same set up as I do as well! I was considering a modchip as well, but since I don't really care for playing burned games, all I really need is the US and Japanese compatibility. Thanks for sharing which modchip will work with the Panasonic Q. Is the installation difficult?
I just recently bought the official sd adapter on ebay but unfortunately it came in very dirty inside of it and doesn't work properly. I tried to clean it but it has been difficult trying to clean off the odd salt like particles in the tiny gaps. I was disappointed about it since it was really expensive.
You can buy it from the code junkies uk website still, i had mine shipped to canada no problem and it came with the sdcard memory card. www.codejunkies.com/Products/SD-Media-Launcher__EF000580V.aspx Just make sure to select the proper region before you add it to your cart.
