I had a Panasonic TC-PVT50 - 55", purchased in 2012 until just this last year. Great build quality and performance; really a premium TV. It's only shortcoming was in brightness. Outside of that, it had excellent picture processing, with accurate color and deep saturation. I would purchase another Panasonic in a minute, if they were still available in the U.S.
Watching this on my TX-P65VT50B plasma, bought 2016 to upgrade size of my TX-P50VT50B. London, UK. Movie time is when I most want the best out of the picture quality and that tends to be night time in a dark room. This beautiful old plasma can not match NITs brightness of new TVs but it is plenty bright for me, especially in a dark room. I have calibrated this with the HCFR software and brightness level is typically set to near zero - so I am not even needing to get anywhere near the brightest levels possible out of this old tech. One day I am sure I will move to OLED but I'm very happy to keep using this plasma while it continues to work. I loved the advanced tweaking possible with the Panasonic - coupled with the HCFR software I really had a lot I could adjust to get grayscale RGB levels as flat as possible.
We live in Europe and have 3 OLEDs from Panasonic, LG and SONY. The Panasonic has the most pleasing out-of-the-box colors of the three. It is a delight to watch. I will definitely check-out an MLA version of it when the time comes to replace our aging LG.
Hey Brian, you are a champ for covering Panasonic even though you can’t buy it! I wish Panasonic would have a 77 inch with MLA…. I think even though Panasonic might not have the best picture quality in totality( last year being a bit below LG and Sony), their electronic components in their flagship models help them have a better longevity. Like I have mentioned before, my GZ2000 is still going strong!!! No burn in or anything! Just a faint grid from the beginning but that’s it. Pushing 10.000 hours of family use!
Love Panasonic…I’ve had two of their plasmas which are now both with family members and still work perfectly, 16 and 10 years old. I now, here in the U.K. own a Panasonic 65” LZ2000 which I’ve had for about 14 months and it’s an absolutely fantastic TV. Superb sound and great natural looking picture straight out of the box.
Thanyou Brian for showing Panasonic. I still use my GT60 and GT50 Plasmas. The picture output is so filmic that I can't let them go. The NEW RANGE 65" and 55" are Z95. They have the New MLA Panels. The 77" Z93 Does NOT use an MLA Panel so it could be the same panel as LG C3. These 3 have a heavy duty Heatsink and power supply to push the Panel harder than LG. Step down ranges usually get put up on the uk website 6 months after the Top Tier Models. The top models are showing on the UK website if anyone is interested.
I have Panasonic Plasma TV’s from 2013, a TCP-S60-65inch, and two 50 inch TCP TCP S50 Models, and the Picture Quality is still Incredible, Viewing angles are Superb, No Burn-In, Colors are Natural and Lifelike, Motion Graphics are Unmatched, and until they stop working, I ignore 4K, HDR, and other “Updates”, because I feel that at 6 feet or more away, I STILL have the BEST Picture Quality, with Inky Blacks. I eliminate Glare in my Room, and the Picture Quality isn’t over boosts falsely, but is UNMATCHED.
@@pietroscarpa2384 , you will suffer from Burn-In, Motion issues, Over-Boosted and Unrealistic Color profiles. Professional Monitors cost over $30,000, and they are NOT OLED.
I miss Panasonic too!! Had the VT 25 58inch then the VT50 65inch pro calibrated by Kevin Miller who use to be at the value electronics tv shoot outs.I wonder what happened to him. Thanks for the footage Brian.
Thanks for such an excellent and thoughtful video. I live in the United Kingdom and even for me the sad and gentle music is fitting. Panasonic is now a niche brand here and every year I keep everything crossed that they will keep going! I'm planning to get the 65" Z95A with MLA. The 77" Z93A does not have MLA but in your video it's hanging in there beautifully. Thanks again for such a moving piece which hit all the right notes!
They price the 77" quite well in NZ on sale - as I want it for dark viewing. really happy they have new chip to fix graduations and dark scenes . So will be good enough for me . Family game on my plasma - they won't care what I get . Yes will check out LG C4, G4 ,The new sony Woled 83" A90M ( not sure they will do QD-OLEDagain ) and the Sony 85 X95M plus a few others . But a great picture OOTB and natural picture processing will be enough for me . Panasonics'' upscaling should improve as well , as long as same ball park as Sonys that's enough for me. Though the 55 and 65 will hit huge NITS , think the Z93A will be 1:1 tone map to 1000Nits . Only short failings is OLEDs dark graduations , but Panasonic best here . Full screen NITs may be lower , not sure a problem . So red , green , blue nits a bit low to complete BT2020 at 1000Nits - but would I miss it ? . only 2 full ports ok for me . Receiver can do netflix etc . 144hz for future proofing for PS6 and it I want to hook up the PC
@@nimblegoat I think the only thing the Z93A might miss compared to the Z95A is the intensely bright whites of MLA. But I’m not sure of the sense in having such bright whites if the other colours are not keeping up. When Brian went off angle it seemed to me that the 77” panel is noticeably thicker than the 55”, which I assume means it has a deeper heatsink ready to be pushed harder to compensate for lack of MLA. I’ll take a look at the Sony X95M but it will really have to go some to tempt me away from the 65” Z95A.
@@faraichitauro3315 Yeah I'm tempted by the 65" too , will be cracker , just lacking in some colour volume - but does that matter for most content and enjoying your sport, movies etc , The colours will still be gorgeous . Was strange the 93 was same bright at show as 95 , maybe they upped the 93 and toned back 95?? . Anyway Panasonic's tone mapping from previous reviews seems to value naturalness , not just going for wow factor pop . Eg G3 did an extra push to get close to QD-OLED . with my colour vision , I wouldn't be sensitive to some extra white and actually nearly everything you see if nature outside except emissive sources have a white cast or tinge from white light going everywhere
I have a TC-65PS64 bought from Costco in 2013 which is still alive and kicking in my main tv room. The picture is stellar and blacks are great. Trouble is it’s been so reliable that I can’t upgrade yet to a larger OLED which I’m itching to do. 😩 However I do enjoy all the CES coverage and reviews of all things new in tv tech through the years. By the time I upgrade; Panasonic might make a triumphant return in the US market! Crossing my fingers. Cheers and looking forward to another outstanding year of tv reviews.
Thanks Brian.. another awesome vid.. I dont understand why the Pani cant be updated over the internet like all our other TV/AVR/Game console products. Where is the disconnect?
I heard the love from you Brian`s Tech Therapy and how missing you the panasonic television in the us. When i heard the first i say i love but panasonic bring not the mla panel in the 77 inch last year too. Gaming all what i want the only one is the inches.
Brian, when i watch pro sports on my Panasonic OLED, it's like i'm at the game. There is a realism to the image in a natural way that i don't see with competing OLED from Sony or LG.
Love the content! I will be upgrading from my Panasonic VT60 plasma and I have my eyes on the Z95A. Mostly used for gaming, I just love how dedicated they are to colour accuracy by the fact you use the Professional profile and enable game mode within it, instead of a dedicated game profile that needs separate calibration. Such a great way of handling it!
Thank you for sharing Brian I am looking at purchasing the 77" for my partner's home when refurbishment is complete. I live in the UK. Thank you again Brian.
I like yourself have a closeness to Panasonic. In March 1998 my first TV was Panasonic. Much to mention here. Panasonic has pioneer engineers who worked on Pioneer Plasma. I have watched closely the AV Industry. It's a personal interest of mine. Anyway Brian , thank you for taking the time to reply, and keep up the good work 👍
(WARNING: this post is all about me) Ha! Glad I watched the whole thing! I'm still rocking the ST50. My previous VT25 clunked out a few years ago, and then I super lucked out a couple weeks later when I found a used ST50 for $100. I don't think buddy knew what he had, plus his better-half wanted it out of their apartment asap when he got a 4K. You almost convinced me to get the A75L, but now that they're ditching the OLED, I think I'll wait another year or two to see why. Great video, Brian, and why don't TVs swivel anymore? Too fragile? I'll just make a swivel platform for it when I do get a new TV. Thanks for reading my mini book!
Stunning.! I have Panasonic’s flagship plasma from 2011, The VT30 which looks incredibly sleek looks the same as the day I unboxed it. They are reference TVs..
Hi ,Brian! I am so happy that you cover Panasonic, let me say this, i had every brand in the market I bought a few months ago LZ1500 no brand comes close to Panasonic picture!! I think that if Panasonic had the budget of LG or SAMSUNG, they would be unattainable in everything!!! So thank you for this video you and fomo and vincent are my favorite reviewers!!!
I love Japanese products especially Sony and Panasonic. i have my Panasonic 65FX800 and can tell its a great TV. i have unboxed literally after 5 years of my purchase. its a shame people are opting to buy what is being promoted a lot. in Australia FX800 was the last model and i took it, knew Panasonic wont do business in Australia, what a pitty!
We are having a snow storm right now and it's 11.6 degrees as I type. Water froze on the end of the house so I had to drop into the crawl space and thaw the pipes with a hair dryer. The other half of the house was fine. Luckily I could get to the pipes under the floor because the insulation was bad on that spot. I wrapped em with a old blanket and the water works again. Then the wind caught my drive through gate beside the house I park my extra cars behind so I had to fix that too in 11 degrees with 40 mph gusts, so I missed the live stream. 🤬 At least Pex pipes are more forgiving of freezing and the gate closes again.
Have to say after watching this vid I'm sticking with another Panasonic... hopefully be moving mid yr so will be looking to get a 77inch for a film room... my 65 Panasonic hz2000 will be in front room and the loyal Kuro will go into our bedroom.... I love the panasonic oleds as theyre so cinematic... gives a picture like a kuro.. natural ..cinematic but much sharper and brighter with dv and 4k is a game changer.. Great video as per usual Brian. . Finally coming to the states for wifes 50th New York in May...!! Looking forward to your next vid my man.. 👊🏽
Panasonic plasmas didn't catch up to Pioneer until they bought the patents from Pioneer after Pioneer stopped making plasmas in 2009. I own and still watch a Pioneer Kuro KRP 500m. IMHO the best TV ever made.
I got the LZ1500 65" oled(2022 model) from Panasonic and I love it. Only downside is that it struggles a lot in certain scenes with certain motion causing it to judder a lot. The scene in Thor love and thunder where they meet Zeus and the camera pans around the environment was terrible. These moments are rare though. I still love the TV however I am still gutted that the year after they release MLA oleds.
Have you gone onto the picture mode settings and turned the max frame rate to off and had the picture mode in proffesional..?? My hz2000 acts exactly like a plasma does... no problems whatsoever... only issue for me is I'm not a fan of the atmos speaker system as have a setup but with the hz the bells Whistles panel had the inbuilt speakers... the jz had the same master panel without which is a great move...
I do hope that Panasonic Representatives in the US, Canada and Australia are reading all these comments. There is clearly a demand and missed opportunity for Panasonic to sell televisions again. People want them but can’t get them. Talk about Panasonic playing hard to get!!
Watching this on my Panasonic 65DX900 series in my bedroom, it is full array LED. Picture still up there with anything you can buy. Great TV and as we can’t buy Panasonic in Australia, it will stay in the bedroom until it dies.
I've have a couple Panasonic plasmas still I will never have any other TV I've bought some second hand they still look amazing and I will never buy anything else I'm a die hard Panasonic guy I've got two of there blu ray players to and two Panasonic sound bars I wish they would sell there oleds here I've buy one for sure
Does Robert still sell imported Pannys at Value Electronics? Panasonic used to release updates online that you could copy onto a memory card/stick and plug into the TV to update.
Panasonic is the best. Thankfully here in the EU we get both Panasonic and Philips which use a brighter version of the G4 panel but have processing on par with Sony. LG and Samsung make great hardware but they can't quite touch Sony, Panasonic or Philips for picture quality. Bit both the z95a and Philips 909 are very expensive TVs compared to the G4 or S95D. Personally i still have a 50" ST50 plasma which is still working perfectly and is watched daily thanks to an android tv stick
I wish Panny would come back to North America. Im sure they have their reasons as to why theyre not here, but personally, I feel like it makes no sense avoiding such a massive market.
Very important question incoming: I returned my MZ2000 because sound issues regarding buzzing bass. I had it connected to a subwoofer and the issue was still there. I didn’t had this issue with my previous JZ2000. It seems to be an issue since the LZ series. Will this be fixed in the Z95A series? Or will it have the same build-in speakers and chassis?
i still have my 34 inch widescreen tube tv from Panasonic, its still working of corse iits not 4k its not a smart tv but it had the best speakers ever, had a wonderful picture that would be only compared with sony at the time and it was cheaper and had better sound then the sony! and that 34 inch still works today in 2024, my samsung 4k 55 inch from 2016 is dying so i need to shop for a new one but no Panasonic to be found or id go straight for it ! now! id buy that top of the line over samsung sony or LG i wouldnt even have to think about it...one of my friend has last years model flagship from Panasonic but he lives in France so they have those tvs but sadly nothing here in Canada and Usa what a shame.
Huuuge Panasonic fan, since the left I picked up a lgc2 a few years ago. Love panny but enjoying the c2. B&H is actually selling them now. Wish I knew....
I tell you what Brian, I live in NZ and it's time for me to get a new one, to replace...my Pana plasma 42" 😁I'm on the market for an OLED 77" Here in NZ Panasonic sells very well so I went last week-end to the local store and checked what all the brands have to offer. And the Pana 65" MZ2000 was just stunning! The Sony A80L 77" very very nice as well and less expensive of the bunch. LG C3 great but no G3 in view (don't sell it!?) Not impressed by the Samsung S90C by the way compared to Panasonic and the others. I'm very tempted to get the 77" MZ2000 but out of stock at the moment but back in the country in 2 weeks time...I'll see between Pana and Sony.
Only thing that stops me buying these TV’s every year is the silly soundbar they attach to the bottom of them. As most people buying tv at this price point already have a good HIFI system.
I just left my 65GZ1500 OLED in Australia, moved to Texas. Can’t figure out why you can still buy Panasonic OLED’s in New Zealand but not Australia, USA or Canada
The problem is that the updates can be based and released by the region. The updates may be specific to that region. They aren't going to update specific to a fee people importing them. It's possible but difficult. Thank you for watching
I don't think Panasonic is behind the trend on having a smaller thickness to there tv's, it's more like they won't sacrifice build quality for a trend. For most people a tv being slight thicker is not going to mean anything. I would rather have a thicker tv with larger and better component spaced out for better heat control than have them all smashed in tight together to have a smaller thickness. P.S. I like the remote. Don't care for the newer minimalist remote style.
Panasonic should seriously consider re-entering the North American market. One does have to ask why on earth does Panasonic show TVs at CES (a North American show) when it doesn't even sell its TVs in North America 🤷🤷🤷🤷🤷. I understand CES gets global coverage, but it still seems weird.
I wish Panasonic would release Tv in the USA. They would sell a ton of them. I know I would buy one. I believe Panasonic would push Sony to improve their TV line. I wonder if Sony thinks they’re so ahead that they plan little update to the TV line. I hope I am wrong and Sony does impress with their line up. PS I don’t if this is true but some on the internet claim Sony new Mini-LED panel is from TCL.
I hope Sony don’t end up like Pioneer and Panasonic by pushing for a premium product that isn’t cost effective to manufacture and produce. Unfortunately the average customer generally doesn’t care for the absolute best quality product and are not prepared to pay a premium for it making these high end brands an enthusiast product only with limited sales. In the UK big retailers hardly have any Sony units on display it’s disappointing to see .
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPYAfter owning a Panasonic VT65 for Almost 10 years I’m now a very happy and proud owner of a Sony A95L I intend to keep it for many more years. Perhaps I’m wrong but I feel that OLED has reached a point that any future improvements are just incremental and the Sony A95L is so good that it will remain this way for a long time.
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPYHi blown away, not really. There’s no way their mini-LEDs TVs come close their flagship Sony A95L. Perhaps over time in the next few years or longer the micro-leds will be leaps and bounds ahead. But yes, the Panasonic 95A seems impressive. We have Panasonic in NZ. Many people are raving about it and especially the sound quality. Thanks for your wonderful channel and the Panasonic review. Cheers Ak, NZ.
Sadly Panasonic made a huge mistake putting all their eggs in the Plasma basket. And then as you allude to in the video.....their competitors out marketed them and displayed their TVs better. All of which led to disaster for Panasonic. They were forced to retreat from many markets as they suffered huge losses. The good news is that Panasonic is these days doing much better after restructuring and new leadership. They are starting to make a lot of money now making EV batteries, and green energy products. They have even done a pretty good job reviving their sub brand Technics (a legendary audio brand). So maybe them getting back in the game more could happen at some point down the line.
They can be, however, updates are by region and specific to that region. If the tv isn't officially launched in that region it can be problematic. Thank you for watching
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY I’m stationed in Europe and I ordered a 77 inch Sony a95L through the military exchange, coming from the states. Will I have a problem with updates? Love your videos, by the way.
What company built the Panasonic #Z93OLED? Was the company in China? Aug 3, 2023 - Panasonic closed television production plants across the globe, from the US to Vietnam, and now outsources to the Chinese manufacturer TCL. With this agreement, Panasonic's idea is that TCL will CONTINUE to manufacture high-end models, where there really is a market and benefits. (Note continue)! I really think this type of info should come from You, or Fomo or "Professional TV Reviewers". (& not Me)! It's important for folks to know where Tvs are manufactured. It should be part of your review along with power usage. If relations with China continue to deteriorate (New Pro US Taiwan Leader), people could really have a problem getting after sales support (parts) for anything imported from China. You claim that a TCL TV beat the Sony A95L The Samsung S95C & the LG G4? (maybe it was one of the last ones that Panasonic actually made in one of their factories?) I think you had a severe attack of "Nostalgia", rather than doing an honest review. Anyway, they aren't sold in the USA and European viewers of this post will know they are buying a TCL tv with an LG screen. Now I won't argue with you about Panasonic Plasma TV's. My wife's twin sister still has a 60 " that looks great.
I dont get it. What is panasonics excuse for not bringing their tvs to the US now? Plasmas are out and oleds are in. Why cant they start making tvs in the US again?
Panasonic Plasma was worst ever TV I owned, circa 2005. Greyish black level. Think I got burn in display model for full price. Was returned then Happy Sony.
If you're such a fan of Panasonic TV's, why did you not buy one in 2019 when you were bragging having the best picture of any TV you had ever seen. (You were right there evaluating them at Value Electronics). You said these TV's could not be in the shootout because of the difficulty to update their software. What about the poor folks that listened to your advice & bought one from Value Electronics? I bet they had real nightmares in trying to update the software. Replacement parts & service must have been dreadful too? Is Value Electronics still selling this TV? Based on "Panny We Miss You" I would guess they don't. My guess is Panasonic paid you a bunch of money to provide us with "Useless Therapy"
Excuse me? Those that bought them were extremely happy!! They still are! I also didn't have an opportunity as they sold out immediately!! Lovely comment and thank you
Interesting that you claimed that Panasonic's "Big Shot" and the owner of Value Electronics had a "special relationship", yet they could not get you a TV? What a Bummer!@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY
