The characterization is really in comparison to Bei Bei's older sister, Bao Bao. She was always more independent than their oldest sibling, Tai Shan. She continues to be independent and happy to keep herself amused. She loved her nursing and playtime with Mei Xiang but comparing her and Bei Bei, he is far more of a mama's boy that she was a mama's girl.

She also was a baby and yet was not a mama’s girl. Her personality was very different. Just like they compared his weight to Tai Shan and Bao Bao, they are comparing his personality to Bao Bao. Both were babies, only one as a mama’s baby.
He looks like he’s already a handful! Bao Bao was quieter and more independent than Bei Bei is at this age. Can’t wait to see him playing and climbing trees outside!

OMG, they are so cute at this age! Just love them. I called Bao Bao the little energizer bunny because she had more energy than I've ever seen a panda cub have before. I got tired just watching her. I wonder if Bei Bei will be similar or very different.
