At the end of the video that lid spin and then putting it back on the box without a glance was fantastic. Great explanation. I really appreciated how the differences from other Pandemic games were highlighted. I can’t wait to get a chance to try this one out.
Thank you very much for this amazing Tutorial ! We are a family of 4 we tried to understand the rules via the manual but we were struggling so much....After seeing your amazing tutorial everything become much more clear ! Thank you and greetings from Portugal :)
Rodney, your pronunciation of "Novosibirsk" is good and correct, with a slight correction for the accent of course. Personally, with my English pronunciation, I can hardly pronounce Montague better. ;-) From Russia with love!
@@nickhuston7934 I agree with you. Rodney doesn't have to apologize for this. But the fact that he paid attention to this was respectful, polite (there should be a joke about Canadians' politeness) and just nice. Especially to residents of Novosibirsk. (google translate)
I completely agree. He doesn’t have to apologize. L I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him in person, and he just as polite and courteous as he is in his videos.
Yet another excellent explanation of a rule set that helped me determined whether to buy the game. I’m definitely getting it now. I miss watching you do a full play through with your kids though. That was always a fun.
Also, video sponsors should also allow you to link to sites where the games are sold to get you additional kickbacks from people who might want to purchase the game.
As always, Rodney does a phenomenal job at these rules explanations. Friendly, straightforward, and easy to understand. Just excellent! I actually factor whether or not there is a video here into whether I'm going to pick up a new game.
I’m super excited for this one! I’m currently playing season 1 (currently in October in the campaign, so almost done!) and I have season 2 arriving in the mail any day now. I love season 1 so much so I can’t wait for 2 and 0!
I finally got a chance to finish looking at this. I have to say, it looks really amazing. I am not so sure it would meet the Spousal Challenge, though. My daughter would like it, but with the pandemic, we are not seeing her as much.... We have been working on Hunt a Killer, where you get a package of clues every month, and we are four months behind.... So I hesitate to get this not knowing that I would have a group that would be as interested in playing it. What an intricate game with a lot of great mechanisms!!!!
This game sort of feels more like a XCOM board game than the actual XCOM boardgame. it even has the theme/aesthetics of XCOM: Declassified. Awesome video as always Rodney and team.
Looks like a must play game. I just need to finish season 1with my wife. We play one game every month to keep the actual calendar in line with the game’s calendar.
I keep reading comments about your pronunciation of Bogotá, I feel your pain... My girlfriend is Spanish, and she bit me (not litterally...) for the entire Pandemic legacy campaigns every single time I had to say BogoTÁ, but pronounced it BoGÓta! 😂
Although I am interested in this game, are legacy style games worth buying/playing if you don't have a consistent play group? My group is varied in game preference and availability. For example, I have some friends who prefer card based games and others who prefer competitive only games. I don't mind teaching new players rules and mechanics but does being thrust into the thick of things help or deter legacy gaming sessions?
I think that's definitely going to depend on your group. I've played through both the previous Legacy games, but I stuck to just one person I knew I could consistently play with, avoiding the complications of having to get 3 or 4 people together. For other folks, getting 3 or 4 would be easy.
Thanks for the interest! I talk a bit about that here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EdtDuvIUa6A.html&t=342 - really nice to know the videos have been helping, and nice job taking on the rule of game master in your group. Groups usually need one or two people to help lead the sessions!
Hey Rodney, with the growing number of games in our collection my group is looking for better shelving and storage. What shelving setup do you have for the games shown in the beginning and end of the video? Also, we can't wait to enjoy this Season of Pandemic tomorrow and thank you for the fantastic explanation of the game! Cheers!
In past ones you've been able to play a "version" of Pandemic on your custom board. Not sure about this one, as I haven't played all the way through yet, to see what it's like when it's over.
It depends. Some go so far as you basically "creating your board" as you play ending with a something that you can play asa normal board game afterwards. Others become so messy that it takes a lot of revising to try to even make it playable on any form. Note that by "replayable" I mean "play as a normal board game". Once you finish Betrayal on House on the Hill Legacy you end up with a fully functional normal Betrayal board to play by design. But you can't replay the story from the first chapter. The campaign, the actual "legacy" story itself, is typically a one shot deal. Once doneyou can't just reset it to try the campaign again. Not only are the cards written on stickered, or torn up but the game relies on you not knowing what's coming and being surprised by the results.
When I finished my campaign in Pandemic Legacy Season 1, (Spoilers) I removed the “Faded” stickers from the board and stuck them on the roadblocks tokens, so that now I have a custom board with panic levels and can select a different “COdA” disease each game.
Haven’t watched this video yet, would like to know: (I’m currently in the middle of playing Pandemic Legacy: Season 1). Would I have anything spoiled by watching this How To Play of Season 0?
Hey just a quick question: Just got the game and haven’t played it yet. I’m wondering how long the game play is. Says about 1hr on the box but is that for the whole campaign or for each game (or month) that you play??
Played the first January game with my family today. 4 of us. Lost pretty hard. I took 3 "blown covers" in one horrible series of bouncing incidents. Revealed a handcuff symbol and got a negative sticker on my alias. That was just in the first game and we failed. Was it just really bad luck? Or do covers get entirely blown pretty quickly? Now the next attempt will be even harder because I have a handicap.
Hi, are there stickers to put on the calendar on the left of the board? To mark when you completed a month/prologue. Also very helpful video, shouldve watched this before we spent 3 hours trying to play the prologue (though we did good and also won, but this would ve been quicker)
I always avoid trying to answer questions like that, because what I might enjoy as a 2 player game, someone else might not. I can tell you I played the Season 2 game all the way through as 2 player game and that didn't hurt the experience for me at all.
Thanks, Rodney for your awesome videos. Any idea when its actually going to be released? As a side comment, several videos you have done this year have been prior to the products availability...I get there are "reasons" for doing that but a couple of games I have been "hmm, looks interesting let me get it, oh its not released yet...oh well"....then I forget about them...if I could recall which one it was I would tell you, but ...well...I forgot which one it was LOL. Doesn't matter in this case; as I went and pre-ordered, but everywhere I've looked it just says later this year. Anyway, thanks for the entertainment and knowledge. :-)
You're very welcome, and yes, we often try to get the videos out a little in advance of their formal release, so you have some time to watch and decide if ti's a game you might want to grab once it becomes available. Sometimes I know when the release date will be, other times I'm not sure.
Hi, I have a question I couldn't find answer anywhere, even after watching your video (doesn't mean you didn't do your job great as always :) ). Me and my friends were playing prologue a day ago, and we were in a tight position, were we couldn't decide is it right to do or not. The example of our last move, resulted in win, but 1 of 4 players didn't quite agree on what we did. The example is: we had a soviet team in East Berlin, and the "Medical Conference Coordinator" was on the turn with both quests not yet finished. We knew, of course 1 of the quests is in Novosibirsk, and the unknown city was Kiev. So as the actions of MCC we did: move soviet agents 3 city's away ending in Kiev, Acquire target action, then again moving the same soviet agents this time needed only 2 city's, ending in Novosibirsk, again Acquire target action. Resolving in finishing both objectives and winning the game. So, my question is, did we do it ok, or the MCCs ability don't allow that kind of movement?
Sometimes it's a little tricky through text to get a clear sense of what is being asked (especially if I don't have the game all set up in front of me), but what you're saying "sounds" okay - which part of it specifically were you wondering if you'd done wrong?
@@WatchItPlayed our last move. using 2 times the MCCs ability with the same agents. Since in rules it says you can do the same action more then once, so we figured that MCCs ability is his new 1 action, next to all basic that all have. If that is true, then you can use the ability to even move the same agents or other pawns for a total of 12 spaces.
Hi Rondey. Is it possible that one player acquire target with one action leaving a token there and then another player in other turn moves the team there an complete the objective?
Sorry Mario, I'm not quite sure I understand the question (it could be due to having shot the video awhile ago). Do you have a time stamp for the section of the video you are referring to?
Do you think you can play this as a 3 player game, even though there's only two "humans" present and we share control of the first player? I feel like you could do that with Season 1, but not sure with this?
After the campaign, I have played multiple games with my copy of Pandemic Lefacy with 4 characters but only myself controlling them. To me, it was no different to the multiplayer version.
Hey Robbie, Pandemic Legacy 1 came out first, and 0 is more of a prequal, but you could play them in either order. I think you should go with the one that looks best to you.
Wow, just wow. I never really liked original Pandemic, and the Legacy versions didn't entice me either. This, however, looks awesome. Thanks to you, this is now on the top of my wish list.
Hello! Apologizes if I missed this being said in the video, but I was wondering how easy / hard it is to have players jump in and out of the campaign. The only other legacy game I have played so far is Gloomhaven, and I like the flexibility of being able to play with varying numbers of people. Of course, having a core set is ideal. Looking forward to picking this up either way! Thank you :)
From my observation, It seems as if this game is meant to be played once only... Is there any way that the game can be repeated once the campaign is over like with other regular board games?
Hey Rodney, can you do Flight Fantasy Game’s Star Wars Armada? I’ve been wanting to purchase the game for a while now and I want to see a tutorial on how to play the game. Thanks a bunch!
Hello again and greetings from Portugal, (Question without any spoiler) What is the influence or consequence of the “funding” ? (Not the budget - that I understood that we have to spent all before next coming month). Resume: we are 3 players started January with 5 and succeeded in both missions; so we will have budget = 4 (3+1 because we completed objectives) and we spent this 4 in assets. But since we succeed both our funding for February will be 4 (5-1 because we succeed). This is my doubt : what will be the consequence of this “4” ? I read event cards can only be 4 ??? But I could not find that on the rulebook.... help please ... Thank you very much :)
Your pronunciation of Novosibisk is not wrong, at all, when you put it in english context it sounds different from the russian but not wrong no need to apologise
Interesting. We are not really into Legacy games, because we like games that have playability. Spending money on a one time through is sort of not what we we like. We still have not even done the Rise of Ferris, because we wanted to do it with multiple players...
I do hear that concern sometimes. I think it comes down to how often you play your games. If you're playing every game in your collection 20+ times, I can see why this might feel limiting, but if you're getting fewer than that, consider that you'll get close to 15+ plays with this, at least! That said, not trying to sell you on it :) It's just that legacy games can offer quite a unique experience. I played the previous season as a 2 player game only, and I know you and your wife like playing 2 player (not that you need another game, Frank :) )
Hey Rodney... am I the only one who raised an eyebrow at your pronunciation of "plague"? I hope these jokes don't bother you, I'm french canadian and I'm sure my pronunciation of many words are weird.
