@@Smiley-tc9so Technically Pandora was the First Shadow boss. Because Pandora was a Shadow created from Maki like Mai and Aki. A part of her that wanted to destroy the real world where she was almost unable to move and create a new one with the help of the Deva System
To be fair, the shadows we see aren't normally manifested shadows Mai, Aki and Pandora manifested due to the DEVA system And the ones in Persona 2 were created by rumours or crafted by... Him
Out of the entire ost, something always brings me back to this song. There's this unpredictable, constantly shifting quality to it and yet the flow throughout the different sections feels so deliberate and perfect. The way it serves as a capstone for the Kandori leitmotif is also brilliant. There's just no other final boss theme quite like it. RIP Aoki.
This > Weird hellish monster nightmare theme. Other theme > beautiful rainbow like butterfly theme. Figures. Its as if the devs did not do this on purpose to annoy us because it seems like it was 100% intended like that to use this song for phase 1 and the other for phase 2
Despite knowing nothing about SMT or the Persona games, this is probably one of my favorite final boss themes that I've ever heard, no other song out there hits the way this one does for some reason.
This battle theme is way better than the psp one. I think it embodies the tension and the difficulty of the situation, you are not in a showtime like in P5 you’re freaking facing the nihilistic out of control god of Maki’s world in a desperate attempt to stop it from destroying the entire world.
Some parts of this remind me of Giygas' theme in Earthbound. The weird, glitchy background noise and unsettling tones specifically. The Masked Man final fight theme reminds me of this even more.
Pandora's original Persona theme had such foreboding rock anthem that pump my spirit up. It really have gave you a sense of her being the final boss of the Avidya world
With how horrific Pandora's first form looks this theme fits well. Sounds like something out of Resident Evil or Silent Hill. The PSP version fits better with the Second Form
You know? I like inboruko sondtrack, is dark and tense. Nothing against to psp version, and understand they tried to bring more "pop" style, but doesnt fit for this game
as poorly aged as this game is, this soundtrack is pretty timeless. while i prefer listening to the psp's god tier soundtrack, the psx soundtrack has the superior atmosphere, 100%.
This might be the best final boss theme in the franchise, up there with Megami Tensei II's Omega. The PSP one isn't bad, but it's a bit too derivative of a lot of ATLUS games from the 2000s. When I first heard the theme, I legit thought it was from like DDS or Persona 4. On top of this, it's just not very fitting for Pandora, who is the ultimate expression of Maki's nihilism and despair. On the other hand, this fits perfectly, blending those formidable orchestral hits, uplifting trance, and the occasional sinister interlude to create something remarkable. While the individual elements are fine on their own, it's when they come together that the mood that they create is fascinating. It straight up screams, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, & Parasite Eve. This might rival "One Winged Angel" from Final Fantasy 7 as the best final boss theme in a JRPG.
This whole soundtrack uses a good portion of Roland Sound Canvas 88 Pro patches. This song for its main riff uses the orchestral hit from that module. Persona 2, Devil Summoner, and Soul Hackers also use the same sound module for the most part.
@@Jexton Thanks for the info! Saw this just in time. Been working on a personal P1 music project and have been trying to find some good orchestra hits that aren't from a fucking cheapo Casio lol. Some of the VSTs I've been using don't have any good orchestra hits at all or they sound incredibly weak, even with countless effects on em.
This version is more befitting for when you're fighting the giant butt vagina form of Pandora though. The upbeat music of the psp version just doesn't work with the abomination. Works fine for the butterfly form tho.
