On November 16-17 in 2023, we organized the 'Policy and Values' Conference in Warsaw, during which we gathered all the key issues that our Association addresses. We subjected these issues to various aspects of panel discussions.

Politics often neglects values, with consequences haunting us. The Iraq war's legacy breeds skepticism about Western countries' ethical engagement. Rejecting R2P in the Global South risks non-realpolitik motives. Constructing solutions is harder without a common basis, especially on human rights. Building a better world order without values at the negotiating table is nearly impossible. Champions of ethics face the challenge of translating advocacy into action. Ignoring values has costs, seen in the counterproductivity of zero-sum thinking in the climate crisis and the disruptive impact of lost trust in institutions during the COVID pandemic. Adversarial conflicts have high stakes, including human lives. Russian aggression on Ukraine reminds Europe that peace relies on valuing human lives. Can global politics rekindle interest in human rights and ecology?
